My bf and I went on a romantic little day trip away from Berlin during a cold April vacation to Spreewald, and Benvenuti was one of the few places that was open on a Monday but also came at the recommendation of our hotel manager at the Spreezeit Hotel. After a day's worth of walking along the trails toward Lehde, I wanted nothing more than some fresh hot pasta to end the evening. Benvenuti was a cozy intimate venue, and funny enough it's located right inside the train station. When we first went in, the waiter didn't seem used to English speakers but he ushered us in and was very nice about everything. My spaghetti carbonara came with a perfect sauce (which honestly can be hard to achieve with carbonara) topped with fresh parsley. My bf's bolognese was also hot and had great texture. The only thing we didn't quite understand were the rolls that came cold, hard, and kind of salty. They were paired with olives in olive oil, which I enjoyed but we weren't sure whether the rolls were meant to be dipped in the olive oil as the bread was very dense and tough to chew. I ended up sopping up sauce with the rest of my roll but that was a bit puzzling, perhaps they could educate their customers if they notice we look a bit perplexed with the state of the bread! read more
