I cannot say enough good things about Dan and On Top Home…read more Improvement. To begin with, he saved me $11,000. I had a very bad situation where a different roofing contractor (who I will not name) did a very unprofessional job of installing a new roof and gutters for us. There were numerous problems where they used inferior materials not according to the insurance estimate, did not follow county guidelines and added unncessary costs. I hired Dan as an independent inspector and he was able to point out to them all the things they were trying to get away with. He coached me all along the way in my dealings with this other company and gave me great advice. Roofing is one business where the average homeowner is not going to know all the details that many companies try to get away with. If you are in Maryland, and in need of a new roof, and haven't yet decided on a company, I HIGHLY recommend Dan and On Top for their honesty and attention to detail. If you already have a roofing company, I would also recommend using him as an independent inspector to ensure you are getting an honest deal. Hiring Dan and On Top was one of the best homeowner consumer decisions I've ever made in my nearly 40 years of living in Maryland.

If you are looking for a contractor who…read morecombines old-school integrity with master-level craftsmanship, look no further than Dan Cox at On Top Home Improvement. Dan's work literally stands the test of time. He installed a new roof and three skylights at my home 30 years ago. To this day, I have had no leaks and the roof is still going strong. For my daughter: Dan replaced a massive skylight and solved a chronic leak that other contractors couldn't fix. Beyond the roofing work, his team handled the interior drywall and ceiling paint flawlessly, leaving the room looking new. For my son: Other roofers insisted my son needed a full replacement for an old copper roof. Dan's repair expertise completely stopped the leak without the need for a costly replacement, saving my son about $10K. Dan Cox won't sell you a roof you don't need, but the one he does install might just last you a lifetime.

The crew is professional, clean, knowledgeable, and friendly. Most importantly, the work is completed timely and with in budget. We love Jannsen Design.... you will too!

From the moment Neal came over to get an idea of what we wanted to the completion of the project it could not have gone smoother. Ralph (the project manager) and his crew did an excellent job. Ralph was more than happy to take the time to listen to our thoughts and was great to work with. Since Double K had done such a great job with the half bath we contacted Neal once again to completely gut our aging kitchen. As with the first renovation the process was flawless. He had great suppliers to work with Jack from Appliances Unlimited, Keith from Kitchens by Quality, and Bob from the Tile Shop. All were a pleasure to work with and took their time to listen to our ideas (although in most cases their ideas were better). Again, Ralph and his crew did a great job -- we are beyond happy. As Double K were redoing the kitchen we noticed a sag in the the ceiling of our carport. We had noticed it before and it was continually getting worse. We asked Neal if he would take a look. He provided an estimate and they had it done (I believe in a day). Long story short. Finding a great contractor with a crew you can completely trust is a difficult a task. I can firmly say -- that task is not an issue for us anymore. Double K has very much proven that we needn't look any further.

It's…read morenot the cheapest of renovators, but if you want flawless work and professional service this is the team to get it done. It's the little things that count: -laying down tarp or coverings as to not track dirt/work mess. -becoming a part of your daily routine without intruding on your day-to-day activities (and they will be there long if you have massive projects) -keeping in touch via text or email if they are not showing up a day -superb detailing in everything... from painting, to cabinet installation... they will make your vision come alive -owner Matt, checking in periodically on progress -trustworthy advice on things that need to be fixed things that don't need to be fixed -one stop shop -- I needed hardwood flooring done in the new kitchen, for example, and they linked me with someone who coordinated work with them Minor downsides: -surprise costs like hauling trash or materials (Always budget more, you may not get a clear scope of how much exactly after labor/materials will cost. The estimate only factors a general idea, so be clear up front.) -had to rush them a bit to stick to timeline (always fast during demo, but towards end gets a little slower. was easily remedied when asked them to communicate more on which work days they would be in/out) If you have a massive dream project, they are the people to get it done. We have met many contractors of all different areas, and always encounter difficulty in response time, details and cleanliness (this is a big one for me). Willis is one of those gems, albeit pricey but I trusted them coming into our home daily and still trust them for consults on small projects.

We worked with them for a total of 2 months in turning around an empty basement to an inviting space with a wet bar, entertainment room, new bathroom, and playroom. It turned out to be a great decision to use Willis with their constant communication, knowledgeable team headed by project manager Luis, and their ability to turn our vision into reality. After a walk-through of our dream basement, Matt was timely and thorough with our project estimates which we really appreciated. He answered any questions we had without hesitation, which made him very approachable. Throughout the entire project, we knew we could communicate with him via email or text, and he was always very up-to-date with how our project was progressing. He also came by every few weeks, and he made sure everything was going as planned. Luis, our project manager, was also a great person to work with. He made sure that my husband and I were happy with his work, and whenever we came to a hiccup (and there always will be minor hiccups!), he would always consult us before continuing on. He was more than flexible with any of our adjustments/changes and stayed on task with his team. If we plan on doing another renovation, we are definitely looking to hire Willis' team once again. I would recommend them to my friends and family as well.

The hardest part of working with this company is that the owner and goto guy is named Carlos, but everyone calls him Charlie. We bought our new home at the beginning of 2022 and we knew that we needed some immediate upgrades. We worked with a designer who ultimately connected us to Charlie. His estimate was itemized which I really liked and his price was competitive, but not the cheapest. We decided to go with him based on our comfort after talking with him for a while. Supply chain issues meant that the project would take a while since the front door and some of the other material would take months to arrive. Ultimately the project took almost 6 months, but was done impeccably. Very high quality and every worker he brought in was great and cleaned up everyday. With adjustments along the way we ended up 20% above original quote, but can't be happier with the results.
