Yep Sophie, Bennett's does look fancy! and yep it always looks empty. People tend to mill around the periphery before actually going in, but that could be due to the overwhelming butchers smell that oozes out of this quality meat establishment.
It does all look like a grand affair, but i will make a confession, the large butcher, surly looking bloke, very Fred Elliot from Corrie a few years back, well, when i was little he used to scare the hell out of me, his eyes all accusing me, as if i was going to run in and tamper with the quality of the meats. He's long gone now, well i haven't seen him in years, but there's still an aesthetic worry about the place.
Anyhoo, competing with the fish and meat hall is a major issue for Bennett's as it literally resides within spitting distance of the other, and whilst the food hall is a more shouty "get yer blah blah blah for blah blah blah" Bennett's is a stand silent and let the quality do the talking.
The meat itself is nice, never had issue with it, but it's a bit on the expensive side, and especialyl when you compare it to the food hall just over yonder, but as Sophie points out, the lunchtime food selection is yum! read more
