This course is generally used for the Kansas City Open, an annual tournament bringing some serious throwers to WaterWorks. If you are undaunted by a steep pitch, then Hole #1 may be just your jam. Depending on which basket level you are playing, distances and difficulty will vary. I'm such a noob but love to combine the steps with disc, so I play A baskets, but bear in mind that many hazards and natural impediments are in play regardless of your choice. Given its popularity, this course is very well maintained by the KC parks and rec department. Of course, there are trash receptacles around but the courses are always clean and there are plenty of facilities. You may end up having to let advanced throwers play through, but that's just golf. Great course, with a sensational view of downtown KC on a clear day, and a jewel of the Northland.

I arrived before noon and it was already getting muggy out. Being earlier, the course wasn't too crowded, but still had a steady flow of players. The first thing that strikes you is the elevation changes of the course, leaving quite a few challenging up-hill throws and a few glorious shots where you attempt to bomb one off the tee. During my visit, a lot of the signs at each hole where torn up. Must be some kind of course upgrades/upkeep. No prob for me, although I was a bit confused as to where the pins were and even had a little trouble finding a couple tees. But that's usually how it goes the first time you play a course! If you love disc golf and are in KC, this is a must visit course.

Main St. while the newer 26 acre West park is entered from N. Broadway. My family reserved the shelter in the West park yesterday for a celebration and it served us well. The shelter is surrounded by a large modern playground with fitness equipment and a zipline. The large park also contains an 18 hole disc golf course, a 3/4 mile walking path encircling a large pond with marshes and a running stream. A great addition to the Northland Parks. The secondary access is approximately 7700 N. Broadway (Hobby Hill Park West). There is no access from N. Main St., nor N.E. 77th Street. During the green season, beware of Poison Ivy, ticks, snakes and mosquitoes. Golf course is very slippery and muddy when wet. Please keep from littering. There are many that visit here that don't.

They have it divided into small and large dog with lots of open space and even a water pump when the weather is warm. They always have plenty of parking and there's portable toilets throughout the park. I also enjoy the trail that runs along the river. It's paved, pretty flat, and maybe 3 ish miles so it's great for everyone. They have a few other trails that are less paved and go through more of the wooded area if you want a little more ruggedness. They also have playgrounds and shelters. Plus they do various festivals and activities throughout the year. Definitely stop by and bring a pup!

A nice course tucked away behind the football field at Missouri Western State University. The front…read morenine are mostly short par threes, with plenty of trees to get in your way and a few fairways crisscrossing one another. So be patient if there are multiple groups out chucking some disc. However, the course really opens up on the back nine, located on the other side of the ravine. Not many technical shots are required on holes 10 through 18, as obstacles are few and far between. But you can really rip your drives and expect a longish upshot to the basket. Not a bad course at all, even though the holes get monotonous. Note that you'll get in between three and four miles of walking before you're done, which ain't a bad workout at all.

If you know where to look, there are numerous off-road walking trails through the trees and brush. During the Christmas season, they reopen it for a drive-through Christmas lights exhibit. Personally, I find it nostalgic and beautiful, maybe even romantic, to walk through the fall or winter evening with a friend. It offers some of the most fantastic views in Kansas City. My favorite spot is to sneak to the top of the water fountain and light up a blunt!
