I had an extremely disappointing and distressing experience with this OB/GYN office, particularly…read moreregarding the complete lack of consideration for a patient who had explicitly communicated significant anxiety about an invasive procedure. I was scheduled for a colposcopy/possible biopsy with Dr. Santiago at 9:45 AM. Before the appointment, I had specifically told the office that I had had a very negative experience with this procedure in the past and that it causes me significant anxiety. I wanted them to know this in advance precisely because this was not a routine, stress-free appointment for me. I arrived at approximately 9:47 AM. During intake, my anxiety was visibly apparent, and I again explained to the nurse that I was extremely nervous about the procedure. She reassured me that Dr. Santiago was very gentle and that everything would be fine. After completing the intake process, I was sent back to the waiting area. Eventually, I was brought into the procedure room, instructed to undress from the waist down, cover myself with a drape, and wait for the doctor. And then I waited. Alone. Undressed from the waist down, sitting under a drape in a procedure room with the biopsy instruments laid out next to me, already extremely anxious about what was about to happen. Approximately an hour had passed since my scheduled appointment time, including roughly half an hour sitting undressed in the procedure room, and Dr. Santiago had still never come in to see me at all. At that point, my anxiety had become overwhelming and I decided to leave. I got dressed, went to the front desk, told them I was checking out because the procedure had never been performed, and requested a refund. Only then did staff go looking for Dr. Santiago. I was told he was about to come out, but by that point I had already made the decision that I was not comfortable proceeding. What makes this experience particularly unacceptable to me is that the office knew in advance that this procedure was highly stressful for me. I communicated it before the appointment and again while I was there. This was not information they could have been unaware of. Yet instead of minimizing the waiting time and handling the situation with some sensitivity, I was left sitting undressed in a procedure room for an extended period while my anxiety continued to build. More than a week later, my OB/GYN provider, Poonam Yadav, finally called me and asked what had happened. I explained the entire experience. Rather than apologizing or acknowledging how poorly the situation had been handled, her reaction included what came across to me as a laugh/smirk, followed by telling me that although she understood I did not want to continue with their office, I should "take this problem seriously." That response was astonishing. I do take my health seriously. That is exactly why I scheduled the procedure despite being afraid of it and why I repeatedly communicated my concerns beforehand. Taking my health seriously does not mean that I have to accept being treated without basic consideration, dignity, or respect. Not once during that follow-up conversation did I receive an apology for what happened. I understand that medical offices run behind. I understand that doctors have complicated schedules and unexpected situations arise. What I do not understand is knowingly leaving an extremely anxious patient undressed in a procedure room for an extended period before an invasive gynecological procedure, without the doctor even coming in to speak with her, and then responding more than a week later without so much as an apology. I left without receiving the procedure I had prepared myself to undergo, and I will now have to establish care elsewhere and go through the entire process again. For an OB/GYN practice--where patients are routinely placed in vulnerable, intimate and sometimes frightening situations--I expected considerably more empathy, communication, and basic respect for patient dignity. My experience here provided none of those things.

I had a pretty regular relationship with all three Doctors at this practice, so here's what I have to say about all three: Dr. Squire is my GYN, so naturally I continued seeing her when I got pregnant in January of 2019. Dr. Squire is exceptional through and through. She's polite, kind, funny... an overall amazing person and an amazing doctor. She listens diligently and gives you the time you need to ask questions. This was seriously important to me. She never once made me feel rushed in the slightest, and is extremely communicative. Dr. Squire truly enjoys what she does and has a love for her patients that I've never seen in another doctor before. Dr. Berthe is phenomenal. He has the kind of personality that makes you feel at ease. I have some pretty high anxiety, so this was a HUGE plus for me. Anytime I was worried about anything, he always managed to explain things to me in a way that subsequently made me feel better. (Lets be real, the internet is a swamp of "something is fatally wrong and you're going to die" articles and blogs, and I let that kind of stuff get the best of me at times). Dr. Berthe ended up going out of his way on a couple of occasions to ensure I had the best possible experience. He is extremely caring and considerate and an overall amazing Doctor. Dr. Sasser is wonderful. She's very matter-of-fact and business-oriented. She gives it to you straight and doesn't beat around the bush at all. This is something I really value in a doctor, especially an OB. I dealt with her the least out of the three, but she's exceptionally good at what she does and when push comes to shove, you absolutely will benefit having her both in the office and in the hospital when it's go-time. I am very small (5'0, normally about 100 lbs). I also have a few medical issues, so we decided to induce at 40 wks. Dr. Berthe was the one on call to deliver my baby. It worked out that i was there at the hospital, both baby and I being monitored, when I was because the medical team noticed a drop in his heart rate and within seconds were in the room to assess the situation. I was extremely worried, but they got his heart rate back up and stopped pitocin in order to better monitor the baby. About 30 minutes later, it dropped again. Dr. Sasser came in and both her and Dr. Berthe quickly decided something was wrong and I needed to have an emergency Csection. (Let me say, this was my absolute biggest fear. I have an autoimmune disease that makes it extremely difficult for me to heal, as well as fibro, and having major abdominal surgery would make it extremely difficult for me to take care for a newborn. Not to mention I was very much hoping for a vaginal birth so the baby can get that extra dose of bacteria that helps them in the future). Everything happened VERY quickly from there. I absolutely started panicking but Dr. Sasser and Dr. Berthe tried everything they could to talk to me and make the situation better. Dr. Sasser would often come over and reassure me that everything was fine, that I'm doing great, and that I'm going to be a mother soon. The csection was terrifying, but it went very well. Once they got a look at the baby, they discovered the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck - which explain the drops in heart rate. If I was not at the hospital already for an induction, who knows what would have happened. I'm completely convinced that this team (and the medical staff at the hospital) saved my baby's life. I can't stress to you enough, dear reader, about how absolutely amazing this practice is. I will recommend them until my dying day, and you will absolutely be in the best hands - both you and baby. If there are hiccups, they will be addressed, I assure you. I have my beautiful, amazing, healthy son because I trusted them. What should have been a quick request became one of the most stressful and hurtful experiences I've ever had in a medical setting. I left feeling disrespected, ignored, and deeply let down by people I had trusted with some of the most important moments of my life. From the moment I arrived, the check-in receptionist made me feel like an inconvenience. Her tone was cold, and instead of offering patience or understanding, I felt judged at a time when I was already vulnerable and simply needed help with a form. I requested to speak with the manager just to understand whether the issue could be resolved. My experiences with Michelle at check-out have been difficult for years. In my personal experience, she has consistently been unpleasant, and others I know who visit this practice have expressed similar concerns. After just delivering a baby, encountering that same attitude again was incredibly discouraging. A basic request for a signed letter from my doctor became another unnecessarily frustrating and emotionally draining interaction. The ultrasound technician (Jennifer) then inserted herself into the situation without, in my view, understanding what was happening. From my perspective, this only escalated the tension and made things more uncomfortable. The most upsetting part of the visit, however, was my interaction with the office manager. She took a long time to come out, and when she did, her approach felt condescending. She spoke down to me and would not allow me to voice my concern. The situation escalated to the point where she stated she would call the police on my husband and me--while our two young children were present--all over a simple form we had inquired about ahead of time. This was shocking and heartbreaking, especially after years of loyalty and thousands of dollars spent at this practice. We were simply trying to understand the situation and advocate for ourselves, yet we were treated like a threat rather than long-time patients. I left the office feeling emotionally crushed. After three pregnancies and years of trust, I felt like none of it mattered. Instead of support and compassion during a vulnerable time, I felt dismissed and misunderstood. In my opinion, the unprofessional behavior I experienced from the front office reflects a larger issue with management. When leadership does not model empathy and professionalism, it impacts the entire patient experience. I believe other mothers and patients should be aware, because the way you are treated during pregnancy or postpartum can deeply affect your emotional and mental well-being. No mother should feel overwhelmed, minimized, or threatened in a place meant to care for her. With that said, I want to express my sincere appreciation for Dr. Leslie, the nursing staff, and former front desk team members Ashley and Jennifer. They consistently treated me with kindness, respect, and genuine care throughout my pregnancies and postpartum visits. Their compassion stands out even more in contrast to my recent experience. I truly hope the physicians at this practice take a closer look at how the current front office staff is treating patients. From what I experienced, there are serious issues that need attention. Dr. Hochberger ended up delivering my first baby because he was on call and he did an amazing job. Very calm and lightened the mood with traveling stories. My second son was also delivered by Dr. Gabai and Dr. Hochberger was called in because they thought I was going to need a C section due to low heart rate. Dr. Gabai was beyond patient with me and tried everything before calling a section. As I was on the table in the OR Dr. Hochberger allowed me to try naturally one more time and guess what?! I ended up giving birth naturally like 3 minutes later on the operating table. It was so amazing because he knew how much I did NOT want a c section which most doctors do not pay attention to. My third child was delivered by Dr. Slaton who also delivered my brother's two babies as well. My third pregnancy was high risk due to having my second son a month early and I was informed that he had an extra Y chromosome which both my husband and I had never heard of. Dr. Slaton made herself available to talk me through what that meant over the phone and my options while I was away on vacation and stayed in touch with the high risk doctor to provide me with the best care possible. She supported me and my husband through the entire process and always made herself available when stressful or confusing situations occurred (like thinking I electrocuted myself once early in the pregnancy). Lol. She was also very generous and donated a lot of things to people who needed them or who couldn't afford them. Her main goal I think was to make a difference not just medically but emotionally with all of her patients, which means a lot when you are a nervous and emotional pregnant person. She came in to deliver Jack even when she was not on call in the middle of the night - I saw in another review that the patient was mad about not knowing who her doctor was- but the point is to know everyone so whoever is on call knows your situation and it's the only practical way to run a practice as doctors should be allowed to have lives of their own and not have to cancel a vacation bc of someone's due date. Anyway my point is that Dr. Slaton was amazing when delivering Jack and also knew how badly I did not want to have a c-section- and tried everything to the extent of putting a heart monitor on the babies head while he was still in the birth canal to monitor him as he was taking a long time to come out. She also made herself available to circumcise him which I had requested bc apparently she is really great at them. All in all the doctors are all amazing, and yes there can be a long wait time but with OBs in general, I've never been to a practice where that wasn't the case and it's all for good reason. That means that they clearly take their time with a patient that may need more services or a doctor is called out to a delivery so the patient is now added to another doctor's already full schedule. It's often times even harder to find a specialist with the same qualities you seek. I've seen Dr. Greenspan for a few years now and although I've only really ever seen her once a year for my women's annual check up, I would not hesitate to see her if god-forbid something else needed to be diagnosed or treated. She is gentle with my checkups, much more gentle than some other physicians I've seen before. Her office is undergoing some renovations but it has always been very charming and friendly with a very nice island feel that makes you feel comfortable. Even the scent they choose (i think they put in glade plug-ins or something) is nice and sweet and teleports you as close as you can get to the beach or the Bahamas. Appointments are easy to make and easy to reschedule. I think I've only been rescheduled one time because she was going out of town and I had made the appointment very far in advance. The only thing I feel like could be improved upon is the efficiency of the lab results being delivered to you. They usually say it takes about a week for you to receive a call with the results but usually by 2 weeks, I call them for the results.
