Avoid this place at all costs. I have been in a two day back in forth just to talk to someone in CS. Their automated system does not have live people or if it does the prompts aren't clear. Sent an email, where they asked for my account number. Since I don't know it, they told me to call the help desk which is just automated prompt. Round and round. read more

I have had this account (without troubles or issues) for about 10 years. I don't like the fees they charge, but my health insurance company wouldn't deal with anyone else so I was stuck. But this year I transferred $8,000 to the account and they have delayed what ought to be an overnight ACH transfer of funds by a full week. I guess they benefit from the float but they have inconvenienced me. I wrote a check on those funds and three days after the ACH should have been credited, they bounced it (and dinged me a $25 fee.) Customer service has nothing but stock answers and flat-out told me there was nothing they could do about it. You should find some other HSA provider. read more

I have NOT been able to access my account on-line for 4 months now. I have called several times since 1/1/2019 alone. The last time, last week, I was assured that a technician would resolve my issue within 24-48 hrs. I HAVE NOT HEARD BACK. And don't tell me to call your customer service number because that is what I have been doing and they are completely incompetent. Can you get someone there to do their jobs!!!!!! I have filed a complaint with the BBB. read more

AVOID this company at ALL costs! Absolute worst customer service. Outsources call centers to India with terrible customer service. They do everything they can to withhold valid claims on FSAs to pocket the money. You'd be better off trusting your money to a random homeless person that these idiots. read more

Have been trying to close my account for weeks. They keep saying they can't hear me and disconnects the call.. Everyone else can hear me but this company. They are stealing my money read more

Absolutely awful customer service. åspite my ability to answer all security questions accurately. They also refused to add me to the account as another primary account holder or talk to me with my husband's approval (after he answered the security questions). I was trying to make a payment to our midwife for the remaining balance in our account. The charge wouldn't go through. A Benefit Wallet Customer Service Representative informed us that you can only make whole number charges with your Benefit Wallet Visa debit card - no cents can be included if you are using your remaining balance. The only way you can make dollar and cents charges is to either pay out of pocket and choose to be reimbursed or to use their "Pay a Provider" link on the website, which takes 3-5 business days. A luxury most providers aren't willing to wait on. To top it off, they will not transfer any balances under $1.00 if you close down your account. So there is absolutely no way for us to reclaim the $0.25 left in our account - when our account is closed down, they keep any money left in it. How they can get away with this, I have no idea. They're stealing our money. Sure, it's just change. But how many thousands of customers have they done this to over time? Absolutely worthless company. We're closing our account and taking our business elsewhere. Enjoy your $0.25, Benefit Wallet. I hope it's worth a customer and our word of mouth - we will be sharing with everyone and leaving reviews everywhere of our experience with your worthless service. read more

I have been on the phone for an hour and a half and still have not received a simple answer regarding why I have a balance when I call the number on the card but when I swipe the SAME CARD it is declined. I've beeen transferred 5 times and still do not have a resolution. I'm currently still on hold and it's getting unbearable at this point. This is absolutely asinine. read more

Their customer service is the worst of any I've experienced. I cannot understand them, nor they me. Beside the language barrier as they must use a call center in the Philipines, the call takers are not actual representatives. They put you on hold and probably email someone in the US, never even get the question right, etc. They stink and the seem to only hire idiots. read more

This company isn't even worth calling them a company. They withdrew $1000 from my checking acount 1 month ago and it still isn't showing up in my HSA account. I have called multiple times during their quoted hours of operation, and have been disconnected multiple times after a messages plays telling me to call back during their normal operating hours, which is when I was calling. I finally reach someone today only to be told that they can't help me because they can't handle HSA accounts, and thAT they were only there to clear out the queue. So they have such CRAPPY service that they are oursourcing calls to people to tell you that they can't help you and that they have to transfer me! Then this idiot transfers me back into the same flipping menu I was in when it transferred me to them. UNLESS YOU ARE BEING HELD HOSTAGE BY YOUR COMPANY CHOOSING THIS BANK FOR YOU, RUN!!! The absolute worst customer service. I hope my company changes HSA again after this first year with BenefitWallet because they are TERRIBLE!!! read more

This is the worst organization I've ever encountered. They suspended our card and it took weeks to get it unsuspended even though we needed to make several important payments for medical procedures... They don't care if you're dying they will not have any sense or urgency. They also, never told us they needed receipts for transactions so we found out a year later that we needed to provide receipts which was very difficult to produce. So we ended up having to reimburse THEM. When calling customer support, they really don't know what is going on they just give any BS excuse to get rid of you. read more

I would give zero stars if possible. I filed a claim for my dependent care account weeks ago and have had repeated denials despite the exact documentation requested being included in my claim. Hands down the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I get transferred around and it is clear no one cares that your money is being held hostage. I have never been more frustrated or disappointed in my experience with a company. I still have not been reimbursed despite multiple calls, hours, and submitted exactly what the company has told me to submit for reimbursement. At this point, the only course of action is to hire legal representation to get my money back. read more

HORRIBLE COMPANY WITH THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I've been trying to get my fsa debit card turned back on for well over a month now & I keep getting the run around so I can't purchase my son's seizure medication, which he is completely out of & he's having seizures daily so his medication is life/death important. Every person I talk to gives me excuses. I paid a hospital bill from February 2021 that also had an office visit copay from October 2020 (I didn't realize it until after the fact) so I repaid My Benefit Wallet the copay amount of $50 & now they are refusing to reinstate my fsa debit card until I pay another $50, even though, I already repaid that amount. They are telling me I have to pay back $100 total, even though, it was only a $50 charge. I've spoke to 3 supervisors over the last month & every time, I get very poor excuses & guess what?! They can't EVER HELP!! I'm filing a BBB complaint & filing a complaint with my employer. I shouldn't have to fight to get my son's prescriptions as well as his multiple hospital bills paid. read more

This is very interesting, and I'm also grateful to receive validation from the other reviewers here, whom I chanced upon... . I was trying to find a forum to express how poor a company Benefit Wallet was, in terms of managing my HSA account. Like another reviewer, the company somehow came into view via my employer, when my medical plan went to a high-deductible. In addition to the fees charged, the customer service is very poor. As an example, I suddenly found a PIN required to use my card, and I wanted an explanation, as the card could previously be used as a credit card. The service representative did not understand my question, and when I politely called that to her attention, she disconnected me. Moreover, the process for funding my account is primitive and slow. For the pre-set automatic transactions, an electronic transfer from my checking account to Benefit Wallet should take, at the most, 2-3 business days. However, it can take up to 2-3 weeks! Ridiculous. And even more insulting, the money seems to be deducted from my checking account immediately. That type of "float" is atrocious. As another reviewer remarked, the website is also relatively poor, and difficult to navigate, and to keep track of money going in and coming out. I intend to try a local bank that offers an HSA, and rid myself of this poorly-performing institution read more

My former company used BenefitWallet HSA. They were never very good, lectronic redemptions which take a day anywhere else take a week with BenefitWallet. Now that I no longer work for them I am learning how bad they are. First their investment section is run by another comany that has started charging a fee each month, The charges do not show up on your BenefitWallet statement. I decided to move my HSA to an HSA my brokerage Fidelity has. In doing so I needed to sell my investments. i put in the sell request about 3pm, before market close. They did not perform the transaction, evidently any request after 2:00pm is not processed that day although the site does not indicate that. In addtion once it is processed I understand it takes 3-5 business days for the funds to show up as cash my BenefitWallet account. Good Riddence. read more

I was initially convinced of the idea of an HSA by my employer who convinced me that opening an HSA was a good idea of the tax savings. Little did I know that the HSA administrator, BenefitWallet would nickel and dime me at every turn. Worst of all, I can not change my contribution amounts once set. The nickel and diming begins with the monthly account fee that comes for not having a minimum cash balance in your account. The charge is $2.95 per month for not having a minimum balance of $1,000 in the account. The next egregious charge is the investment fee. That charge is $3.50 per month. This charge hits regardless of your investment balance. So you potentially face fees of $77.4 per year after putting $1,000 in your HSA. That is a guaranteed loss of 7.74% and that is on top of the fees that the investments themselves charge which range from 0% to 1.5%. Can anyone name me an investment that returns enough to nullify the effects of these ankle biting fees? The 1,000 compensating balance that you must maintain in order to not get hit by a fee faces an absolutely pitiful interest rate of .15%. With inflation at 2%. You are effectively lending to BenefitWallet at -1.85%. You are paying them to lend them money. The website is also extremely shoddy. Important information is difficult to find and it missing many of the key features that other HSA administrators offer. If your company offers you an HSA through BenefitWallet, steer clear and DO NOT put a dime into this scam. I'd rather give my money to the IRS. read more

I'm on my 4th call and a week later trying to sort out an issue with my account. Their customer service is terrible.

Had a lot of trouble dealing with customer service. They rejected a legitimate claim I had and froze my account until I "reimbursed" them, because they wouldn't accept any of the various proofs of payment I submitted. If you're unfortunate enough to have an HSA with these folks, save every receipt you can but still be prepared for them to reject claims. read more

Benefit Wallet (BW) mislabeled a return of an incorrect distribution to my Health Savings Account (HSA), clearly marked as such. They are offering no solution to the problem before the deadline for presenting my income taxes. Also, BW mailed me a Form 5498-SA for 2017 that erroneously states that the total contributions to my FSA during 2017 amounted to less than the maximum allowable in my case. Its website offers no useful guidance, and a rude customer service rep confirmed on March 30 the mistaken figure. I therefore made a deposit for the difference. I now have to reverse this erroneous deposit; BW informs me that it will charge me $25 for the privilege. So BW sent me false information, confirmed it on the phone, and charges me extra as a consequence of its incompetence. read more

I am a customer of theirs. I am supposed to receive a reimbursement payment of $1,350. I made the request on January 5th. It was processed on January 8th. It has been "processing" since that time. I have called three times about it, messaged them twice and emailed them once. They have not replied to any written inquiries. Each time I speak with someone, they tell me it's because of the Holidays (Christmas and New Years have come and gone BEFORE January 8th), or they say, "It should be there later today", which of course hasn't happened. All I want is my money reimbursed. I feel as if they are keeping it from me on purpose so they don't have to part with it. read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. Horrible. The worst financial institution I've ever encountered. They've completely made a mess of my money, and have created a tax problem. They charge $4/month for this. The customer support people are useless. Then hung up on me trying to get answers and couldn't answer basic questions. They closed my account, to prevent a transfer to Fidelity. Then they claimed I requested a name change, and are insisting on legal documentation and a notarized form. I DID NOT CHANGE MY NAME! Now I'm trying to get them to send me a check, and they're refusing. read more

For any employer out there looking to contract with BenefitWallet for their employees....DON'T! their service and way of processing claims is absolutely horrible. If you use your money to pay for medical services, be prepared to fight when you get a denial for payment. I have provided ample proof of my transactions and still cannot satisfy their "claims" department. First statement-provide receipts *done* 2nd statement-provide proof of service date *done* 3rd statement-proof not acceptable "does not state service started." And it doesn't end there. Still dealing with this after 4 months. read more

If you have money in their HSA account expect delays and problems getting YOUR money out. Total run-around. Online forms they say they never get because every month they charge a maintenance fee and they hate to give that up. This company and their deceptive, unprofessional practices needs to be shut down. Customer service, I believe, is in the Philippines and truthfully they are of absolutely no value. The only telephone number I could find was the 877 to that Customer Service. If you call try Option 3, as if you are an employer, sometimes that goes directly to Tempe, AZ. I seemed to get better assistance when dealing with Tempe. Beyond that, good luck. This company is as the title said "Horrible at EVERYTHING. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. WORST customer service EVER! First, as other reviewers have noted, their website is non-functional. I made several calls and they even called me back, but all they did was ask me to repeat the same steps over and over and, you guessed it, nothing ever worked. But worse is trying to get your money out their accounts. I submitted a trustee-to-trustee transfer form 10 weeks ago. Now they claim they never received it. How ridiculously frustrating. So, I asked if they could please expedite a new form if I get it in right away. Of course not... I have to wait 20 days. What a bunch of poop. read more

I would Not recommend this company to any one every time I go to the DR. I have to upload a receipt and if you don't they will suspend your card very quickly. Trust me when I say it's a hassle to deal with this company. read more

This company is thoroughly disorganized and riddled with fraud. In August, 2019 my HSA debit card expired without me ever receiving a replacement card. I called to request a new card but a month later still had not received one. I logged into my account only to discover that someone (not me) had recently made several ATM withdrawals out of my account for over $600. I immediately called Benefit Wallet and requested the card to be immediately deactivated. I was told I would be receiving a "Fraud Investigation Package." After about seven attempts and three months of waiting, I finally received it, completed it, and sent it back in mid December. As of today, January 18th, the Fraud Department can't even confirm if they've even received the Fraud Investigation Package let alone worked on it, even though I have written overnight tracking confirmation that they received it. We are now FIVE months into this process and no further along than we were on day one. It is my opinion that this organization is totally mismanaged and the fraud is originating from within the company. Stay away from this company. You will regret ever doing business with them. read more

I do not recommend Benefit Wallet to anyone. There are much better HSA Trustees who should be considered. I was with them only because my employer used them. Benefit Wallet has high monthly fees for both the HSA and their Investment side. I decided to leave Benefit Wallet and started a Trustee to Trustee Transfer from Benefit Wallet to Fidelity (best HSA). Trying to move my funds from their investment side (Savedaily) to the HSA and then to Fidelity was extremely cumbersome and took much longer than it should have. I suspect their system is set up to discourage a change and to hold on to your funds as long as possible. Considering their high fees, I would expect superior not inferior service. read more

If it was possible to give Benefit Wallet zero stars, I definitely would do that. Benefit Wallet denies Flexible Spending Account (FSA) reimbursement claims repeatedly. They deny reimbursement claims online. They deny reimbursement claims that were faxed. Their process allows pending claims, which are unprocessed and unapproved claims, to lock FSA funds so when you go to the DR or get a prescription, those valid claims are denied. Then when they get around to processing the claims they come up with reasons to deny the pending claims. After complaining to Benefit Wallet Management, they indicated they would check into why claims kept being denied after I followed their instructions. I did not receive a follow up call from Management after they said they would call me back. I've used FSA accounts for more than a couple of decades and this is the first experience with these problems. It absolutely feels like a scam to deny valid claims to keep my money. I strongly recommend avoiding Benefit Wallet. Their service is terrible. They do NOT provide the results that their business is supposed to accomplish. Dealing with Benefit Wallet creates frustration, denied claims, lost time at work, denied claims, aggravation, excessive time spent getting additional receipt data, and denied claims. Benefit Wallet's online system is sub-par, their processes are lacking, and customer service is inferior. read more
