This is my second review of this company. I honestly didn't think things could get worse after my first experience a few months ago--but they did. I purchased custom orthotics, fully covered by insurance, totaling over $500. I had more than enough funds available, yet my card was declined over a $39 eye doctor receipt that BRI claimed was "unclear." I visited the eye doctor three separate times to obtain a new receipt and submitted it three times--still denied. I eventually paid the $39 out of pocket just to get my card unblocked. The foot doctor allowed me to pay $275 upfront and the remainder when I picked up the orthotics. I immediately submitted a reimbursement claim for that $275. Weeks later, I discovered it had been denied. When I called, I was told the receipt was legible and verified--but the description of service wasn't acceptable. Apparently, the word "orthotics" wasn't good enough, despite being plainly listed on the receipt. When I returned to pay the remaining $250, I used the now-unblocked HSA card with no issues and then requested an even more detailed receipt for the first charge that was denied--something I've never had to do before. The doctor's office was just as confused as I was, but they complied. That claim was denied too, this time with the excuse that I'd already reached my 2025 maximum, which is flat-out untrue. At that point, based on my experience and the countless similar reviews, I knew there was nothing more I could do. For BRI, these awful experiences aren't a bug--they're the business model. They intentionally make reimbursement difficult, knowing people will eventually give up. That's how they protect their bottom line. If you have any choice at all, do not use this company. It's a racket--plain and simple. read more

I paid $3300 for a medical card to have that amount available to me in 2025 due to my wife being pregnant. If you don't use that entire amount, they keep what you paid. They barely let you use it to pay ANYTHING. Every single time we had a doctor's visit they made us submit receipts and then would not accept the claim. We only were able to use around $900 of the $3300 we paid, got scammed out of the rest. Stay far away from this scam! read more

Their system is horrific, customer service is abysmal. You get a runaround to get reimbursed and have to submit itemized receipts several times. Getting in touch with customer service takes time and it is usually to a call center outside of the U.S. who can only read off of a script. They don't help and are clueless. I am recommending to my employer to find another company to administer the FSA plan. Prior to inspire financial taking over our plan was good and you could speak to someone to get issues rectified!!! read more

I was supposed to receive my 2024 FSA payment via direct deposit. BRI deleted the direct deposit information that was set up from when I first enrolled. BRI informed me they sent a check instead of direct deposit via mail. I never received the check since 2 weeks had passed and asked them to place a stop payment and reissue the payment as direct deposit. I called BRI today (10 days later) and the rep stated I had wait an additional 10 days for the check to clear and call back to place a stop payment if the check is not received. Apparently they never placed the stop payment on the check the first time I called, which is now nearly a month. Also another problem is getting to the correct area for claimant customer service and the line automatically hangs up on you. I had to call back 3 times to finally get a rep and she didn't resolve the problem, and disconnected me after she informed me I had to wait 10 more days. This company provides horrible customer service with no resolution. Hopefully I will receive the check since this will be approaching a month before I can place a stop payment. read more

Well...Let's hope this posts with zero stars (nope...it won't), as this is, by far, the worst "benefits" company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with!! I have made FOUR submissions on ONE claim...while BriWeb changes the information that they require with each submissions. We are even back to Reason #1. I have even used their form from THEIR website, which THEY requested!! Claim: Denied because they want some other information. At this point, I have spent more time than this claim is worth. Looking at the number of ratings at one star, I am no longer shocked, and am going to chalk this up to the fact that they are just plain stupid. This is the worst company that I have ever dealt with. They are holding our funds hostage wanting additional information for a qualified payment for an eye doctor, from a FSA plan through work. Recently I have been notified that payments are not being processed for our prescriptions.. HOW ARE PRESCRIPTIONS NOT COVERED!!!!!! ESPECIALLY THOSE NEEDED FOR A DIABETIC. Website offers no help. They are not part of BBB so evidently they do not want people/companies to know what a negligent company they are. The person I spoke was so OBTUSE about her job that she said I needed to provide additional information for Optomap, which is digital retinal imaging. She said that is should be submitted to medical insurance...excuse me isn't that a covered FSA expense if it is medical. I will be looking into the qualifications needed to proceed with a class action suit. read more

I'm an administrator for a parking benefit. The spreadsheet they require each month is unduly complicated. Even worse, the requirements for submitting the spreadsheet on their website is a constantly evolving mess of nonsense that requires clicking through somewhere between 5-10 iterations of "is this what you intended to submit?" and the number of clicks needed to submit a document seems to change from month to month for no fathomable reason. read more

Denying transactions for medical treatments because there is "not enough detail" on the receipts. Then you submit a receipt and they still deny it. It's ridiculous-this is a savings account with MY MONEY, not insurance. If it is a medical provider and I got a service I should be able to pay it. Crazy. Our old card company was great-never a problem using our card. Then we got switched to this garbage ripoff of a company and it has been nothing but a headache. read more

Hands down one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. Their website never works. They have my account mingled with someone else's. Their phone lines are always cutting out. And when I try to get help with logging in, they verify my name, my address, my phone number and my employer, but if I don't have my member ID number, they aren't able to help me. read more

Awful and duplicitous, they say you can submit claims for Commuter Benefits but never clarify that they mean Parking only. I'd like to say they have terrible customer service, but the reality is they have no customer service. Calls sit on hold for eternity, and emails go weeks without response. They deny legitimate claims, provide confusing or inaccurate explanations, and give you no recourse to appeal. If I had the option to use any other provider I would. read more

My experience with this company has been terrible. Customer Service is less than useless. Most of my called result in spending most of the time on hold. I actually hung up after 30 minutes on hold. Account Manager Diana is not returning my calls despite providing timelines (she'll call back within 24 hours - did not happen; she'll call back within 30 minutes - did not happen). Time after time my valid claims are DENIED. Claiming out of service date, which is not true. Or asking for extra receipts from THEIR STORE.

Last year I funded my FSA account to the maximum which was $3050 period this year. I reduced my contribution to 1500 period For some reason, BRI changed. The amount I contributed for last year to 1500 therefore deducted 2800 from my account last year. And this year, so I don't have any funding for this yearthese people do not respond to emails. We had no choice when our employer switched to Beniversal and now we are stuck until hopefully they come to their senses and change. Everything I use my FSA card for needs an explanation. I send the explanation and that's not sufficient, so they suspend my card and the ability to use it for my kids prescriptions. I call customer service, and it literally takes an hour to get through the ridiculous prompts only to be put through to some ignorant operator explaining that they are audited by the IRS. Really for everything I purchase with MY OWN MONEY that is bullshit. I contribute to the card it's none of your business what I purchase. THE WORST IN THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY! If you're an employer, stir clear of this company. My former employer uses them. I recently left the company and still have $2K still on my HSA card. Terrible customer service and NO ONE TO HELP YOU. We signed up for this service yet could not create an online profile with the info we were given. We called and emailed for days and have never gotten an answer or assistance. We ALSO need to know our card balance as we have upcoming doctor appointments - we've again called and reached out for days, have left our number to be called back, etc. and NEVER hear from anyone! Holy moly! When I thought a company couldn't get worse, we picked up this vendor as our provider. It's July and I've yet to talk to a human or get a response. Here is a typical scenario - FSA card transactions at a dentist or doctor are rejected because they are 'non supported'. What does that even mean? The preemptive receipt submission for long-established medical offices are denied with a vanilla 'denied' message and no explanation. Phone calls are not returned. Emails not answered. Submissions are not processed. What's even funnier (and arguably not related) is that threatening letters are printed on the cheapest paper there is, with printers running low on toner. I submitted a claim for my new glasses around Christmas time and was never notified it was denied. The reason for the denial was I didn't upload an itemized receipt, even though it was uploaded with the receipt from the card reader as well. Numerous other people at my job have had issues getting reimbursed and we have only been using BRI for 6-7 months. read more

Creeps! I had $500 on account from my old job. They had my current address to send me a letter about the balance but "somehow" sent the card to an old address that wouldn't forward. Three years later, I receive the card to my address - after they've charged me a $5/month service fee for over THREE YEARS! And their response is "yeah, and?" Absolute garbage. read more

BRI handles my employer's pre-tax benefit for commuter expenses and for health expenses in certain plans. I opted for a commuter benefit with my employer. BRI manages it poorly. Money is supposed to be deducted from my paycheck and deposited in another account or credit card. The first year of the program, BRI took more than $1000 from me without providing any benefit whatsoever. I discovered that the company downloaded my $160 per month commuter costs to a credit card, but i never had the card. They finally provided the card. This is the second year and money is being deducted from my paycheck but is not ending up on this card. I have been calling them for a week. No one answers. The money saved due to tax savings is not worth the grief of dealing with the company. In order to force them to provide service go through your HR department and potentially, go through your employers broker or other expediter. read more

I am complaining about very poor computer programming and very poor telephone response that has wasted a great deal of my time. [1] Poor computer programming: As of October 5 2023 I was trying to get a complete list of Medical FSA transactions in 2022. When I clicked "View all claims" I got a message "No recent claims were found." This is careless computer programming. I had specified I wanted claims for 2022. First I tried the Google Chrome browser and then the Microsoft Edge browser. No joy. [2] Poor telephone response: I called their 800-473-9595 number at about 11:30am October 5 2023. Remained sane during this ridiculous encounter by putting the call on speaker phone so I could do other stuff. Waited 8 minutes before a receptionist answered and then said she would transfer me to the Medical Department. Waited 12 minutes before an automated voice answered asking me either to send an email or leave a voicemail message describing my problem so staff would call me back already aware of the issue. Or else remain on the line. I opted for voicemail thinking this would be immediate. Instead I waited 10 minutes without getting voicemail. I hung up in disgust. This is straight carelessness and incompetence... not linking the customer immediately to voicemail. read more

This company's customer service is awful. First, i tried to get help on the website, but they display a banner that says they cannot help via web. So, I call - options once you call don't make sense. They said hold time would be less than 15 minutes - ended up being 20 before a rep answered and transferred me. No one picked up on the transfer. The absolute worst, they do not care at all about their customers. I have been trying to pay my Cobra premiums with my HSA debit Mastercard - and they cannot accept the card even though I can use it for purchases anywhere else?!? Terrible wait times for customer service on the phone (currently on hold for 45 minutes, automated service told me it would be a 15 minute wait), and unclear and not helpful once you finally get someone on the phone. I submitted my expense reimbursement months ago and was never notified that it was denied. I called several times, documenting my date and time and every time I called, they told me that my claim was denied but that they can see the documents are there and that they would resubmit yet nobody ever resubmitted and for months my claim stayed denied. I begged for a contact to escalate through my employer and was finally given a supervisors name and email. I contacted him and he reiterated that he could see my documents were there, and that they were timely, and accurate, and said that he would personally ensure my claim was approved. A month later, still nothing. This company is horrible. This is a frequent occurrence with them and my experience has never been positive. If your employer offers services to this company opt out and pay your expenses out of pocket. read more

This place needs to be shut down by the government Today, their website has an error that it is down - consistently unavailable. It is not dependable. and wastes a lot of your time. If you try to call, [I have in the past], you are left on hold for an hour after which their system times out. If you use their chat, the employees try to help but the system is a circle. Progress is not made. And, I spent hours of my own time explaining to them what they are doing wrong. They applied my 2021 balance to my 2022 expenses and then rejected reimbursing my timely submitted 2021 expenses. They need to be audited by the government. Their app does not have the Year selection. Only the site. If their was a negative rating available, I'd use that. read more

Very bad for commuter; the card is too thin to be read by NYC MTA subway machines. Cannot get money back or submit receipts as the company cites an IRS reg. They do not post the reg on their website. My HSA was transferred to them when I left my previous employer. Only half the money from my previous employers HSA ever made it to them, even though I contacted the previous company and have receipts proving that they transferred the money to them. I've been calling every day for almost three weeks and I keep getting pushed around saying they didn't lose the money. They also are refusing to provide tax forms or statements that are required to transfer the HSA to another provider, ensuring that they keep all of my money, including the $6k that is missing!
