The tables were beautifully adorned with folded cloth napkins, professional china and silverware presentations, and red and white whine glasses. The place was also spotlessly clean. When I opened the menu, however, the prices were lower than I had expected. Many of the entrees were going for 12-13 Euro. My acquaintance and I each started off with an apple juice, and shared the basket of bread, which came accompanied with three different spreads. That was where I stopped, however. She ordered a tomato and mozzarella salad, which looked ok. Of course, the slices of thick mozzarella looked delicious, but my acquaintance complained about the not-so-ripe tomatoes. We capped our meal with a coffee and cappucino. My coffee came with sugar and a little cookie, and her cappucino looked like a cappucino should. The ambience was great, and I need to return to give a better review of the food. From what I've discovered thus far, it is OK. Next time, if it is nice outside, I would also like to sit on the patio. (They also had ice cream there I did not try.)

Just went to Falafelhaus for the third time today. Never again!…read more Whatever you do, don't argue with the old man in charge. No item on the menu is up for discussion. Don't want the side of flatbread? Throw it in the bin. You're getting it, whether you want it or not! I committed the cardinal sin of trying to combine two orders (Foul and Manakish). I think the old man must've had a "mind blown" moment - in any case, he couldn't compute. He doubles down and refuses any further discussion. Threatens to not serve me if I continue talking. Practically a Mexican standoff, me with 4,50€ in my hand, his posed dangerously over the cash register. You're a long, long way from any concept of "hospitality" or "customer service" in this joint. Expect mildly Lebanese cuisine with all the stubbornness of a German school cafeteria. Pros: close to university fairly priced, by Braunschweig standards pick'n'choose your own salad ingredients top-notch authentic Soup Nazi experience (for the masochists) Cons: long waiting times veggies are as Lebanese as Angela Merkel customer service feels like fisticuffs at the Arbeitsamt Shame, because there's only one other place in Braunschweig that does proper Falafel: Falafeli, just down the road. Go there instead. The lady running it won't hate you when you have a request.
