I came in today with my dog Trudy. It was a very emotional visit, indeed. Trudy is our angel. Our son and his family went through the same thing and the only thing they got out was their dog, Abby. We both chose Riverside Animal Hospital and were glad we did. Though Abby has passed away from cancer, the care she got was second to none. I brought Trudy today for a follow up, from a urinary tract infection and possible mass on her bladder. To say I was scared was an understatement. As I walked in the office, I was greeted professionally and more important a reassuring welcome. This made me feel, so much more comfortable and I knew, It was so sincere. Each person had a caring smile on their face. I was immediately brought back to the station, for the examination. Again, I was treated with much kindness and in a real professional manner. She asked about how Trudy was doing and did an initial exam. She could tell I was scared and gave me much reassurance. After this examination, Trudy was taken to a different room and an ultrasound took place. I was so scared. Thinking the worst, and hoping that my prayers would be answered, in a positive way. After a few minutes, the veterinary staff doctor and assistant returned. They gave me positive information and I was so relieved and so thankful for Riverside Animal Hospital, for the amazing job, that they all did, from the time I walked in to the time that I left. We will go back in about a month for a recheck up and hope and pray that everything will be OK. The professionalism, knowledge, work ethic and sensitivity from the Riverside Animal Hospital team, is second to none. Thank you for letting me share my story.

We were able to get in next day for the procedure so I didn't have to wait too long knowing what was going to happen (Thank you Callie) They had a special private entrance for us which was nice because I had already started sobbing. My vet, Morgan Helfrich, and her tech were very kind and made sure we could say goodbye at our pace. They had plenty of anesthetic so she could pass not knowing what was happening. My vet said some very gentle words as my dog was passing to gently say goodbye, words I was unable to choke out at the time, but were important to say. Thank you Riverside Animal Hospital, you were so wonderful to have on my side during such a painful moment. I will never go anywhere else!

After bringing Mabel home following her spay procedure, the cone provided by East Bend Animal…read moreHospital failed and broke into multiple sharp pieces simply from catching on the door jamb while walking in the door. This was not misuse -- it was a clear product failure and a safety concern for a post-operative dog. When we contacted the clinic for a replacement, we were told we would need to pay for it. After a follow-up call, the clinic confirmed they would not replace it. We have generally had good experiences with East Bend Animal Hospital and trusted them with the care of our pets. We never questioned their higher-than-average pricing because we believed it reflected better care, judgment, and accountability. In this situation, it did not. To be clear, this was not about the cost of a cone. It was about principle. Faced with a clear safety issue involving a post-operative dog, the clinic chose to stand by the failed item rather than support a client with multiple pets. We also reached out directly to our primary veterinarian to document the safety issue and provide photos, but received no response. As a result, East Bend Animal Hospital will no longer be providing care for any of our pets. This was a disappointing end to what had previously been a good relationship.

I have been happy with them over the 3.5 years I have been taking my dog there. However, the last time I was in, I was unhappy in a few ways. I had told the person with whom I spoke to make the appointment that I didn't want to come in several times a year, so could we please do the annual exam and all the vaccines my dog needed at the same time? But when I got there, the tech said the appointment was for vaccines only. I was frustrated, but okay, do the two vaccines. The real pisser for me was that the tech never asked me if I wanted the 1- or 3-year rabies shot. They had given my dog the 3-year vaccine 3 years ago and I always get the 3-year one, so I was not happy bc, again, that means I have to take my dog in MORE times than I want to! Isn't it basic to ask which version of a vaccine you want OR default to the version they last gave her? Also, they kept me waiting 15 minutes past my appointment time. No big deal, but no one else was in the waiting room and no one from the business came out to tell me they were running late. I did ask past way through my wait and was not given accurate information, nor any explanation as to why they were not keeping the appointment time they had set. So, they missed on common courtesy. Lastly, the manager never called me back! Does this business even care???? I'd like to hear from the owner, but doubt I will. I'll be looking for a new vet.

1-Star Review - Lauren Thorson, DVM - Bend Veterinary Clinic…read moreVisited: Oct,29,25 | Dog: taz, Shepherd, 7 I moved to Bend specifically to follow previous vets' recommendations: steroid therapy + water therapy to rebuild muscle mass after surgery. Every prior clinic supported this plan. Dr. Thorson: * Refused to discuss or prescribe steroids for muscle rebuilding * Refused to refer for water/swim therapy * **Refused to provide neurologist referral card** despite request * Stated "I don't know you" and "I don't know if it will work" * Provided only basic pain meds and sent us home When I asked, "Don't you want to try every avenue to save him?" she said no. No written treatment plan, no diagnostics beyond a quick exam, no records released. Red flag from the start: $35 non-refundable deposit just to book--never seen at any other clinic. Disappointing for a dog who still has fight left. Seeking second opinion elsewhere. UPDATE 10/29/2025: After I CC'd the Oregon Veterinary Board in my records request, the clinic quickly provided: * Full medical records (download link) * The neurologist referral they refused in-person (541-209-6960 - Veterinary Referral Center of Central Oregon) Still disappointed in the initial dismissive care and refusal to discuss steroids or hydrotherapy, but at least we can now move forward with proper treatment. UPDATE 10/29/2025: Records finally released (after CC'ing Oregon Vet Board) confirm: * Las Vegas neurologist (Dr. Fitz, DACVIM) prescribed STEROIDS + underwater treadmill post C6-7 surgery * Bend Vet refused both, claiming "don't know if appropriate" * Taz is now WORSE: zero front limb withdrawal, new pressure sores Neurologist re-check scheduled. Thank you for the records -- but initial care was dismissive and contradicted prior specialist plan. UPDATE 10/29/2025: Records + neurologist referral (VRCCO 541-209-6960) finally provided **after CC'ing Oregon Vet Board**. Las Vegas surgeon prescribed steroids + underwater PT -- Bend Vet refused both. Taz now has neuro appt this week. Thank you for eventually complying. UPDATE 10/29/2025: After CC'ing the Oregon Vet Board, Bend Vet finally: * Sent full records * Gave neurologist referral (VRCCO 541-209-6960) Las Vegas surgeon prescribed steroids + underwater PT -- Bend Vet refused both. Taz now has neuro appt this week. Done with this clinic.

We never felt rushed to make a decision and he explained everything to us. He was also upfront about the fees. He's also very knowledgeable. The staff was so nice and made our traveling so much easier. They even took pictures of our dog and emailed them to us since we had to leave her there. We mentioned we were flying back in 3 days so they even prepped us with diapers and pee pads ... amazing service. I really wish we had a vet like Dr. Stone in Los Angeles. I am sad that our dog had to go to the ER while we were on vacation but I'm glad we found Dr. Stone to take care of her.
