If I could give 10 stars I would!! My cat got into some kind of fight and got a big gash on his head and it abscessed. Blue Sky got my kitty in right away rather than going to an emergency vet. They took great care of him and he needed a follow up 3 days later bc he literally had a straw coming out of his head for drainage. However, I was to fly out the next day and didn't have someone that could take my cat back to the clinic for the removal of the "horn" Jenn at Blue Sky volunteered to make a house call and remove it!! Blue sky and their staff have been great to my puppy who had a fractured elbow. Staff members have been so compassionate. He is happy to see them and comes back with love notes on his bandages. Im happy to have found a vet that has staff who really love animals and what they do. price wise they are very reasonable and I do not feel they push procedures. This clinic is extremely overpriced. My girlfriend took my dog in for a nail trim yesterday. They charged us $84 for what they call a comprehensive health exam, on top of the nail trim and medication we already had. My dog had a small bump on her dewclaw that could have been looked at while they were doing the nail trim (considering that's all they did). They did nothing out of the ordinary or extra to take care of the issue and it sure wasn't a comprehensive health exam at all. Something that took them 1 minute they charged an extra $84. They didn't prescribe anything other than Vetprofen for pain/ inflammation (which we already had) and said to keep an eye on it. Had to call multiple times to speak with the manager who basically said there's nothing they can do other than return the medication and I could contact the company who owns them. Not to mention the Manager told me, " It sounds like something you should take up with your girlfriend" which was extremely rude. Very dissatisfied and disappointed in the service I received as well as the price I was charged. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone especially with all the great veterinary clinics to choose from in Bend, OR. We simply could not have asked for a better experience with Dr. Ford and Dr. Tennant during the last year and a half of palliative care, and seizure management with our nearly 19 year old West Highland Terrier. The fact that she lived so long, and was herself right to the very end, was in no small part due to the kind and compassionate care we received from both vets. I wanted to take a moment to give praise where praise is due. My husband and I moved from Phoenix Oregon. Shortly after we moved our enter neighborhood and vets office were burned down in the awful fire. We lost all of our medical records. As luck would have it Winston has had some health challenges. To start over with no records and explain what we have experienced health wise with him was going to be a challenge at best and in the Covid curbside pick up current world we are living in possibly a nightmare. I went back to Blue Sky after leaving after many years of bringing my pets there. I left because Janet Ladyga left and I didn't have any rapport with the other vets I took my pets to see. I decided to go to a clinic that is much closer to me. But then, my dog had a very serious issue on a Saturday. I called the vet that had been treating him and was told that they were booked. So, I called Blue Sky, I was told if we were a current clinic they definitely would work us in. So, I changed my pets back to Blue Sky. Another bad Saturday, I called and said my Yorkie was in very bad shape and was told there were no openings. I admit, I lost it. I have been to Blue Sky Vet Clinic and both times the staff has been wonderful continuously to our new kitten, Obsidian. He will be returning again in a few weeks for his second set of shots and rabies. I also found out on my last visit that to have him neutered is only $10.00 more than the Bend Spay and Neuter Project, which I think is reasonable to pay to make sure he's in familiar hands after the procedure. Amidst covid, I Called to ask if they would match the cost of my dogs cytopoint injection for chronic/degenerative allergies from what I saw online due to my financial hardship and the deterioration of my sweet girl. It was heartbreaking. they said YES. these jerks manipulated me into paying for a lesser dose but the lesser dose didn't work. I went back for them to give her the remainder of the dose. not only did this whole treatment not work for the first time in years, furthering her condition into a heartbreaking state, but they charged me the full price of the dose which I attempted to mitigate by the lower price I viewed online. man, I don't ask for handouts but I was just trying to get my dog through covid alive and pay a reasonable fee for the treatment which she requires. Instead of initially just saying no, we can't price match from the gate. They ultimately sent the full bill plus some off to collections despite KNOWING I couldnt afford the full price and KNOWING they sent my dog off without a successful treatment after both visits. It's unfortunate someone gave Blue Sky a poor review, because Blue Sky is the best veterinary clinic I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with, and after 40+ years of being surrounded by animals, I know a good vet when I see one. Dr. Chad Moles is the cream of the crop. I first met Dr. Moles in December 2010, when my beloved 8-year-old cat, Moses, became critically ill very suddenly and I rushed him to the emergency clinic. Thank goodness Chad was on duty, because he saved Moses that night; Chad worked on him for hours to get him stabilized. Unfortunately, Moses had acute myeloid leukemia and passed away ten days later, but Chad gave me time to say good-bye and it meant to world to me to be able to do that. The night I put Moses down, Dr. Moles came to my house to perform the euthanasia after he'd just had all four of his wisdom teeth pulled. How many vets do you know who would do that for a client he'd just met? Chad is now the vet for all my cats and they get their care at Blue Sky Veterinary in Bend. I would not trust my cats to any other vet. Chad is caring, knowledgable, direct yet compassionate, and eminently qualified in his position. Dr. Bollinger, who founded Blue Sky, is just as knowledgable and compassionate, though he is semi-retired. Dr. Bollinger doesn't spend his time on the golf course or at a country club. No, instead he travels to Central America to impoverished nations to volunteer his time in spay and neuter programs. Those are the values and qualities on display each day at Blue Sky. They are 100% professional at all times. Blue Sky is a little pricey, but I feel as though they are competitive and you get what you pay for. I've used this vet clinic for several months, and while the clinic staff and veterinarian's are excellent, I can't get over the attitude of the receptionist. Every time I call or have a go in with a question I'm met with the rude attitude and treated like I'm an idiot for every question I ever ask, even when calling to ask when my next appointment is. We are traveling the country right now, but one of our dogs needed updated shots and tick/heartworm meds. While in Bend, I saw this vet clinic was highly rated and I can see why. The receptionist helped set up the appointment and she was soooo incredibly nice and helpful. The vet techs and veterinarian were also incredibly nice, helpful, and kept both of our dogs the calmest they have ever been at a vet's office. They put cheez whiz on the floor to keep our dogs occupied during their exam, freaking genius!! We got stocked up on meds, updated shots, and both dogs left very very happy!! We've been using Blue Sky since we moved to town & this is by far the best vet experience we've had in the last 12 years. The staff is great & accommodating when it comes to setting convenient appointment times. The vet tech (her name escapes me) was caring & affectionate with our cats, which helped to calm them and in turn, that calmed me. Dr. Moles is very thorough, patient, willing to answer any questions, and outlined all of our options. Our boy cat recently had dental surgery & when I had a follow-up question, Dr. Moles called me back promptly and encouraged me to call as often as needed. We love Blue Sky! read more

We tried them when we first moved to town. Although they have a very modern and up-to-date facility, their vets are young and seem to rely on expensive tests over experience and intuition. They didn't consider the needs and finances of the owners, rather, just insisted on the tests. I needed to have my dog's teeth cleaned, and in the pre-surgery blood work he came up with his kidney values off a bit. The vets here suggested that before they do the cleaning we go to Portland to see a specialist to rule out lupus or some other rare condition, then said we'd likely have to test his blood AGAIN before doing the cleaning. Seemed like they were either fishing for money or afraid to rely on intuition and take some chances with an old dog. Obviously this is the most thorough approach, but I don't have the money to do test after test just for a simple procedure. They also gave us an outrageous "worst case scenario" estimate for the cleaning. We ended up switching vets and were told by the new vet that he had "old dog kidneys" and they did the cleaning while running fluids and the dog did fine. And at a fraction of the cost of Blue Sky's estimate. At the time we had 4 dogs and 2 cats and they also insisted that we bring them in only 2 at a time because their room was too small. Well, the room was a lot larger than other vets we had used before we moved here, and nobody else seemed to have difficulty with seeing all of them at once. read more

So when my trusted specialist recommended this place i was very leery after reading reviews,but i trusted her with my babies life who happened to be a 16 yr cat i love deeply love who has kidney failure,other health issues and now very badly infected teeth, I gave Dr.Moles a chance. Heed our advice and DO NOT take your pet here!! We brought our dog in for a bad broken toenail which he wouldn't stop licking at, and was obviously uncomfortable. They asked for him to be dropped off to be seen at 9 am, and due to work scheduling conflicts, we actually dropped him at 8. Well, by 1 in the afternoon, he still had not been seen? Then the vet called my boyfriend at work with devastating news. The toe where the broken toenail was actually had a growth which had pushed the nail upward. The vet was "pretty sure" it was cancer, and wanted to set an appointment to amputate his entire toe the following week. Wait. So... she isn't sure it is cancer? Naturally, I went in to pick our buddy up with a list of questions and concerns for the vet. We would much rather know what we are dealing with before we go chopping off body parts! Unfortunately I was met by a vet tech instead who told me the vet was not available (why would they tell me to come in at that time?) and while she was very nice,she didn't want to speak for the vet. I expressed my concerns to the tech, and was sent on my way and given an estimate of over 900 dollars for the procedure. Later the vet called and left a long, rambling message about squamous cell carcinoma and mast cell tumors, using terms I understand only through anatomy classes I have taken. I felt like she was pushing us in the direction of the expensive surgery. She said we could do a biopsy, but it would be so expensive we might as well go ahead and just take the whole toe. Not one bit of this sat right with me. I decided we should go for a second opinion, and I am so glad we did!! Our new vet, at High Desert Veterinary (who we love!) looked at his toenail growth and did not think it looked outright cancerous at all, and decided we would just keep an eye on it for change, act conservatively. When it did visibly change, we went for surgery- he left the toe and pad, and took just the toenail and the questionable lump underneath and sent it in for biopsy, which came back NEGATIVE!!! If we had listened to Blue Sky, we would have just chopped our poor dog's toe off for nothing! Also, the surgery with biopsy at our new vet's office was around 300 dollars less than the procedure we were quoted by the first vet. Overall, our experience with Blue Sky was impersonal and insensitive. Our dog is like our child, and you would not suggest unnecessary surgery of chopping off someone's breast, for instance, if you merely suspected a lump was cancer! I have since spoken to 3 other friends who used them, and for various negative reasons have not gone back. Wish we had talked to them first! There are many great Veterinary Clinics in town here, however, Blue Sky is not one of them! read more

Welp, I started going to this clinic back in 2009, on advice from a friend and also because of the clinic was in the close vicinity. Granted it's not the best location but it seemed clean enough and nice inside. When I was brought into the exam room, that changed a little- noticed some blood drops on the wall. Not impressive. I ended up seeing a vet that is not there right now- I'll say her name was Dr.' L'. She was nice, yet somehow condescending at the same time, made you feel like an idiot or just a lesser person than her- and she sure wasn't all that impressive or brilliant. She treated my cat neither god or bad on examining her, then announced tests were needed. I said OK, and my kitty was whisked away for a blood draw. When I went to check out- there were a huge amount of test fees, none that we ever even discussed. (actually she never mentioned anything about how many tests she was gonna run, but it seemed like ALL of them) Bill was over six hundred bucks, for a short exam and some tests. Wow. Also turned out nothing was wrong with my kitty when I got the results. Awesome. Did not go back. Fast forward to now- I went to another vet nearby who also turned out to be a dud that never could give me a diagnosis for anything, so I thought I would give them a try again- mistake! I saw both a woman and a male vet over the few weeks I went there and again I was totally blindsided by the fees (how many & how high compared to others in town) and I guess they are all trained at this place to jack the bill up straight away, in case you never come back? Don't know. But after looking around and talking to more friends I found a much better place a bit north and in a much nicer hospital with better people.. Lastly, I noted an 'odd' thing about this clinic's reviews here on Yelp! Really?? How is it possible to have 30 five star reviews on October 4th of last year, then another 6 on the 6th, 15 on the 7th and 8th, then another 13 the rest of the month? So obvious that this business freaked out last year and had a bunch of fake reviews made. Very sad, but maybe that's the only way they get a good review. I have to doubt ANY review above 3 stars for this place because of that. Pathetic. read more

I just had the meanest thing happen to me. My dog had renal disease and our food shipment got lost and he can't have any other dog food otherwise he vomits and get sick. I called my vet and they didn't have any renal good so I made many calls around town and talk to a very helpful gentleman that said he needs to ask his manager to see if he can sell me a can of dog food since I am not a current client. He got back on the phone and said as long as I have my vet fax them my dogs prescription they will sell it to me. I called my vet she faxed it to them. I arrived and the doors were locked due to Covid. The person on the phone said they will not sell me any food for my dog because I am not a client. I actually was considering becoming a client as I have wanted to change vets recently but no way. The girl put the manager on the phone and she said it was against the law to sell me the food and that her employee gave me the wrong information. I begged and pleaded with her to just give me one can of dog food since her employee gave me misinformation. But she was so cold and refused and didn't even face me in person through the glass. I have never been treated so mean. If someone in your company gave misleading information you must take responsibility for it. I will tell as many people I can to spread the word that this vet is not compassionate at all. Unbelievable. Every good reputable company must take responsibility when someone get wrong information. Our long-time vet who we just loved retired & we were in the market for another wonderful vet for our dogs (we have 4!). Dr. Moles first saw my ACD (Tildy) for an initial evaluation & to keep her current on vaccinations. Then Tildy got a cheat grass seed in her ear & Dr. Barno took care of her. In both cases, Tildy was treated extremely well -- despite her being a 'wiggle worm' patient -- and got really great care. What a huge relief it is to find wonderful care for our dogs! read more

I feel inclined to write this review because I am extremely disappointed with the recent service I received from the owner of Blue Sky. I have a dog that happens to have many health issues and I have always taken him to Blue Sky because of the incredible service I have had from the front desk reception and vet techs. I have also been very happy with Dr. Bolinger as he has performed two surgeries on my boy and was very helpful. However, after spending $8k in surgeries and treatment for my boys knees, I have since found that both surgeries have failed and they need to be re-done. I took him to a specialist at another vet to have x-rays done to figure out why my boy isn't recovering. The news brought me to tears because like most, I don't have the money to do the surgeries over again. He is three years old and the thought of putting him down because of money is awful. I reached out to Blue Sky to see if they can assist me financially with one of his knees due to the fact that both surgeries failed. The owner immediately began to blame me for his failed knees by saying things like "don't you take him on long hikes and run him?" As if I'm not supposed to exercise a 2 year old large breed puppy. She then proceeded to tell me that "no surgery is guaranteed" which is something that I already understand. I truly believed Blue Sky to be the type to do anything for the pets that they care for but I stand corrected. The owner told me to have the x-rays sent to her for review since "a knee surgery at Blue Sky has never failed." I had them sent over and followed up with an email hoping for some sort of supportive relief. I have not heard from anyone. So... as nice as the staff is at Blue Sky, I wouldn't recommend taking your pet there because they don't back up their work. I am between a rock and a hard spot now because I have no idea how I will pay for his legs. I will never recommend Blue Sky to anyone ever again. After the first x-ray, they convinced me that there was absolutely something wrong, and extensive tests MUST be ran. They didn't ask, they said it had to be done. Five hours and five hundred dollars later they came to the conclusion that he just had a tummy ache and needed some gas relief...of course demanding money for the bogus and unnecessary tests ran before I could see my dog. Interesting you are not aware our bull dog has only been seen by your office since we bought him at 3 months old. Your office has given him all of his shots to date and physical examinations. Look at his chart before you claim such things. I made it very clear I was wanting to see if surgery was necessary and needed an estimate if indeed that was the case!!! We have two small dogs which we entrusted to the care of Blue Sky Vets and have nothing but good things to say about them. Dr. Bolinger took the time to explain some very complex issues with one of our dogs knees and he did so in a manner which made it easy to understand. Dr. Roberts did surgery on our male dog which had painful kidney stones. We were informed as to how the diagnosis was made and what to expect post surgery; our little guy is now back to normal and is pain free. Dr. Moles followed up on the kidney stone issue with a treatment plan and meds to prevent future stones from developing. All of the Vet techs and front staff were wonderful and the only regret we have is that we are moving and will no longer be able to take our dogs to them. read more
