I would've liked to be able to post a positive review but it seems that there is no kind of guarantee on Frank Farrell's work. We had a loft conversion done costing in excess of £50,000. The shower tray in the bathroom - we discovered six months later - had not been sealed in, leading to a leak which damaged the ceiling. This was obviously a mistake on the builder's part and for the amount of money we paid, really should have been up to him to deal with but it was left to my husband to fix as Mr Farrell had gone totally AWOL. He made about six promises to come and look at the issue, all of which he missed. My advice would be if you get him to do any building work, make sure some one who knows what they are doing checks it during the snagging period before the final payment is handed over. read more

In March 2015, I employed Mr Frank Farrell (above company) through the website 'Rated people' to simply replace the lock on an internal door. I advertised the job for £40.00 to which he fully agreed. He attended and after a few hours of work told me that the door was not suitable for a new lock even through it was in good condition. He told me his daily rate was £80.00 for this, I felt that I could have been told this a lot earlier and that he was 'stringing' the job out for more money. Mr. Farrell stated he could return the following day to complete the work and also offered to change our boiler cupboard door to match the bathroom door. I was quoted by text; '£320.00 for doors & handles and £150.00 for materials. I agreed to this as I wanted the work completed quickly. Mr. Farrell attended with two internal doors and a lock similar to mine, which I later noticed was a B&Q Lock. He fitted the doors and handles. When he finished, I noticed that the knob on the bathroom door didn't open, close or function correctly as it had been so poorly fitted. He then left and to my amazement I received a text from Frank asking for a reference. He even took my old doors and the lock I had purchased without asking. I asked Frank to return and put the lock on properly, he agreed but despite numerous emails & phone calls he never attended. He was asked to return and put right the faults by rated people and also refused which resulted in him being permanently excluded from the website. He has also been permanently excluded from another trade website 'My Builder' no doubt for similar dreadful workmanship. This man has taken £400.00 from me in total and left me with a door that doesn't work, Can you imagine giving him £20.000 - £30.000 for a loft conversion/extension !! STEER WELL CLEAR !! read more
