I have been a customer of Hawley Air Conditioning & Heating for many years, and I cannot recommend…read moreMr. Hawley and his team highly enough. They are much more than HVAC technicians. They approach their work like true engineers, with an incredible depth of knowledge and attention to detail. Just as importantly, they have always been exceedingly honest, straightforward, and fair with me. About ten years ago, Mr. Hawley replaced the air conditioning system at our condo and did a fantastic job. This summer, the roughly 30-year-old system at our current house finally gave out. Despite it being the middle of summer, Mr. Hawley squeezed us into the schedule in less than a week and gave us a very good deal on a new Daikin heat pump system. He spent a great deal of time explaining the differences between a heat pump and a traditional HVAC system, answering my questions, and helping me understand why it made sense for our house. I really appreciated being educated rather than simply sold a piece of equipment. Hawley is also one of the companies in Bakersfield with the expertise to install and properly configure these kinds of heat pump systems. The team did a fantastic job completely retrofitting our system, and the difference inside the house is remarkable. The temperature is much more consistent and comfortable, the system is highly efficient, and ours also includes an ionizing air-cleaning system that helps remove particles from the air. It is rare to find a company that combines this level of technical expertise with genuine integrity and customer service. Hawley Air Conditioning & Heating has earned my trust over many years, and they will continue to be the first people I call for any HVAC needs in the future. Highly recommended.

We purchased an inverter AC system from him and it was slightly more expensive than a standard AC unit, but much more energy efficient and half the foot print. After having my AC unit serviced by South Valley AC & Heating, I started experiencing an…read moreintermittent issue where the compressor would stop running while the indoor fan continued blowing warm air. If I shut the system off for a while and turned it back on, it would sometimes work again--but the problem was inconsistent and difficult to reproduce. What really impressed me was South Valley AC & Heating's commitment to making it right. They came back out three additional times as a courtesy to diagnose the problem. The first two visits were challenging because the compressor was working normally when they arrived, so there wasn't an obvious issue to find. On the third visit, they happened to arrive while the compressor was acting up, which allowed them to identify and fix the problem. I really appreciated that they stood behind their work and didn't give up just because the issue was intermittent. They were professional, responsive, and genuinely wanted to make sure my AC was working properly before considering the job finished. It's easy to provide good service when the problem is obvious. It's much harder to stick with a customer through an intermittent issue, and that's exactly what South Valley AC & Heating did. I highly recommend them for their honesty, professionalism, and dedication to customer satisfaction.

Prior to this review at this point, all 10 of my reviews have been positive. This is my first…read morenegative review. At the initial installation of my AC, Rus was great. But if a problem comes up, he avoids it. Since June 2020, I noticed a big problem with my AC unit that Rus installed, and he refuses to fix it. It may have had a slow leak all along, and I did not notice it until then when I had a real hot day and I was home all day. It was because I was working from home and prior to that, I was only at home at night times during hot season. I noticed on a really hot day in June that I could not get the indoor temperature lower than 82. Another AC tech checked the readings on March 30, 2021, and he said it was a bit low and could be a possible leak at the coil. On April 8, 2021 A couple of other techs that saw the AC oil coil stains and said with the readings that it had, it was an obvious leak. They said Rus could have fixed the problem in June, and the freon injection just temporarily bandaged the problem. Rus has not returned my calls about this, and I texted him the readings and photos of the coils. Low side 85 psi High side 210 psi Refrigerant r 410a Ambient temperature 70 degrees In September 6, 2020, we had another real hot day again I could not get the temperature below 82. Rus finally came 1 1/2 months later after constantly calling. He claimed the AC was fine. He texted me back a week after I first notified him of the readings on March 30, 2021. He said now that I had somebody else check out the readings, he said he is voiding the labor warranty! He never gave me the warranty in the first place! And he knew since October that I was going to have somebody else do the service, because he said he could not match the offer price. He even told me to have it done in the spring before the summer season. He never said anything about voiding the labor warranty. Between Yelp and the BBB, Rus had 3 terrible reviews. All had a problem with their AC system after the service and Russ did not follow up after they contacted him back many times. It is the same that he did with me. Also according to my roofer, his installation caused my roof leak in which they originally thought it was something else. They first reroofed my composition part of my roof thinking it would stop the leak in my bedroom closet. After I figured out that it was still leaking, they determined that it was at the AC unit that needed metal against it. And it fixed it. I notified Russ of this when I found a leak in the first heavy rain after his installation. I never had a leak there prior to the installation. He said that his installation did not cause it. He was wrong.
