I went to Affordable Dentures in Rockford Illinois. The dentist name was Ben Mehta. This quack promised me he could make some dentures and implants that wouldn't pop off or come loose when I bit down or chewed. So I trusted him to do the job. It was to cost me $12051.00. When I went to get the implants put in, he started to numb me and he was the most excruciatingly painful dentist I have seen in my 60 years. It was the worst experience I've ever had and I've had 2 dry sockets at the same time. After I had healed enough I went back to have the snaps put in the dentures and he was totally and completely incapable of making them fit correctly. When he installed the snaps in the lower denture he put the snap so close to the outside edge of the teeth you could see the snap through the denture. When I bit down about 20% of the force was on my left side and 80% on the right causing the dentures to slightly twist putting unnecessary strain on them. I went back with the same complaint many times and he wouldn't even remove the soft realigner when making adjustments to the dentures. The dentures come with a 4 year warranty but the last time I was in trying to have him fix it he said that's ALL HE WOULD DO, he flat out told me he wasn't going to remake them. I said I would have to sue you him if he doesn't fix them. Then this fraudulent quack threw me out of his practice and is not honoring the warranty. I started this nightmare on 9/2/24 and he defrauded me out of my money on 3/11/25. The dentures continued to unsnap, twist, and cut my gums. On 5/18/2025 the twisting became too much for the weak spot to handle and they broke at the spot where he drilled the snap hole too close to the front of the teeth, and of course it would have to injure me again. So now I have no dentures and no warranty and he has my money RUN AWAY FROM THIS QUACK!!!!!! HE IS A THIEF!!!!! HE WILL HURT YOU ON PURPOSE!!!!! HE DEFINITELY DOES NOT HAVE THE SKILLS NECESSARY TO DO IMPLANTS!!!!!! I have had dentures for over 35 years with snug fits and no adhesive....THAT IS UNTIL...I went to Affordable Dentures in 2018! My uppers were pretty good, but my lowers were way too big, loose, constantly falling out, and required large quantities of adhesive. I went back twice and nothing improved. When I called for the third time I was dismissed, told they couldn't help me anymore. I filed a complaint with my insurance company and they sued for damages and received (so I was told) $800 reimbursement. so I was living with these "economy" dentures up to the present. On April 23 of 2024 I decided to give him another chance and this time I would pay the extra money for "The Ultimate Fit" dentures for $3,091.00. I had to pay the entire amount up front, which should have been a red flag for me. Especially since, the first time he entered the room, he confronted me with the fact the he "lost" $800 on me. I told him that was the insurance company, but the fact remained that my lower dentures never have fit right without a large amount of adhesive. So, he made my new dentures to pick up on May 15. And even before I left the office I knew I was in trouble because the bite was off and both upper and lower dentures were loose and shifting. They made a minor adjustment but a week later, May 23, I was back because they were shifting and dropping in my mouth. Another adjustment and told to use more adhesive because the lowers barely sit on the top of my gums. And when I called for another appointment the secretary was going to give me a used car salesman skit about the virtues of "get used to them", "we can't make them fit without using adhesive", blah, blah. I told her to stop patronizing me that I have been wearing dentures over 35 years and not until I started going to Mehta had I ever used adhesives or had so many problems. I called again on June 28 to complain that I was biting my cheeks, my lips, and the teeth would tip and be crooked when I bite or chew. She told me the earliest appointment was 3 weeks out. So now I have an appointment on July 18 and am literally afraid to go for fear of retaliation. I am 73 years old and legally blind so every bus trip to his office is a 4 hour trip. I paid a big price for "The Ultimate Fit", the Cadillac of dentures, but what I got was a beaten up, used Yugo. Appropriate for the constant invitation, "You go now! We can't help you anymore!" So, because of the pain, I had to quit wearing my new dentures and go back to my old ones. What legal recourse does a person have when they have been exploited like this? read more

Ben Mehta Dentist is cc a 10+. I've been a Customer there for a few years now. Always satisfied!!! The Dentist is very knowledgeable and has a Great Bedside Manner!!! My recent visits were to get a couple more implants on my bottom teeth. It's a process to go through before the final appointment. Wow Wow Wow my bottom dentures are so beautiful and fit Amazing!!! Feels sooooo Good. Vanessa worked on my dentures also. What a Professional, Friendly, Compassionate young lady. She also does Amazing work. Can't thank her enough!!! I have spent most of my adult life dealing with tooth issues and have visited dentists, endodontists, orthodontists, oral surgeons, and prosthodontists all over the country and had experimental work done by Department heads at Loyola University. Tens of thousands of dollars and scores of years later all efforts to save my teeth were futile and I ended up with a full upper denture and a partial lower denture. While comfortable and durable enough, the dentures never approached the efficiency of real teeth and my diet was limited by the compromises you make with traditional false teeth. Also, no matter what adhesive I used, my teeth were never secure enough to make me feel comfortable enough about doing certain things in public -- like singing, acting, preaching . . . I reached a low point while performing as a lead character in a play. I had a violently emotional line to deliver and in the middle of shouting, my dentures flew out of my mouth! The next day I began researching and visiting more oral specialists and had estimates and timetables for traditional implants that ranged from 2 to 4 years for completion and $10,000 - $16,000 spent to get there. On top of that, all but one of the specialists said that my jaw had deteriorated and demineralized to the point that I could not successfully have traditional implants without a bone graft and that would add another year and thousands more to the cost and timetable! Every one of these specialists told me that mini-implants were a disaster, not thoroughly tested, had a very high failure rate, avoid them at all costs! What to do?! After doing more research on my own and talking to anyone I could who actually had traditional implants, I knew that I could not continue to flush money down my mouth and I found out that traditional implants are also not a "slam dunk" -- many fail, grafts fail, etc. I was about to just "be satisfied" with the dentures I had when I came across a late night "infomercial" that spent a half hour comparing the different solutions to lost teeth and went back to researching mini-implants more. To shorten this essay, let me just say that my research led me to this relatively new "franchise" -- Affordable dentures whose whole business model and approach appeared to be at least worth checking out. I went to the nearest one to me -- Dr. Ben Mehta in Rockford, IL and was INSTANTLY impressed by the setting, the professionalism of everyone from reception through delivery of service. Dr. Mehta did x-rays and an MRI and talked to me for quite a while explaining how Mini-Implants met my needs and solved all of the "problems" traditional oral care providers had identified. He also explained the steps involved, the timetable, and the range of costs -- all in MY control! Instead of years to complete it was weeks! Instead of more than $15,000, it would be less than $6000 and that included all of the extractions, temporary dentures, and prep work prior to installing the implants! I decided to go ahead with the implants and dentures and have never been sorry! The treatment is state-of-the-art, the cleanliness and professionalism is top notch. The treatment from everyone involved is like you have become a part of their family. Now all of that is nice, but if the results are not what I was hoping for, then all of that is meaningless. So! The result? Beyond better than I was hoping for! I have had my implants and dentures for more than 5 years now and can eat almost anything I want. My chewing is 3 times as efficient as anything I could do with traditional dentures. They are also incredibly comfortable. I often forget that I'm wearing dentures. I can sing, act, even whistle (couldn't do that with dentures) AND food TASTES BETTER!?!? Yes, it tastes better because there is no broad covering of the roof of my mouth like normal dentures have. The roof of your mouth is filled with "secondary" taste buds and also helps you enjoy/interpret food Texture. Dr. Mehta is a VERY skilled dentist. His extraction procedures were the fastest, most efficient, and painless I've ever had. The installation of the implants was also surprisingly fast and resulted -- just as he had cautioned -- in 1 day of pain -- ONE DAY of pain! 24 hours later I felt great. The temporary dentures (while the implants are healing into place and your gums are healing) fit perfectly and worked every bit as well as the one I had for 10 years. Fitting for the permanent dentures produced perfectly fitting permanent dentures, as well. Bottom line, I have recommended Dr. Mehta to many of my friends and everyone who has gone there has come back thanking me for the recommendation! Make no mistake about it. Dr. Mehta is not an oral surgeon, he is a dentist. He does not have the title of Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon. I hope this review will help someone save their teeth, pain and money. I wish someone would write such review before I met with this guy. I only found another reviewer warning after I had the procedure done. It has been a horrible experience. After having the procedure, I consulted with 3 other dentists and 3 other oral surgeons and they all confirmed that I had unnecessary procedures done and the implants were too close for good and aesthetic restoration. I had a savable tooth pulled out, and instead of letting it all heal, I had immediate implants placement with some graft and mesh and god knows what else was placed in the area. Of course, the pain was there all the time and I went to a very reputable oral surgeon to fix this mess, he just could not believe the mess I was in. He said he would not put me through such traumatic oral surgery and just shook his head in disbelieve. Of course, when I called many times complaining that something is wrong it was said all is fine and that the bone is growing around implant, and some other stuff that had no merit or value at this point. So please save yourself the misery, once something goes wrong no responsibility will be taken and he won't listen to you. There were a lot of red flags: your mouth is not thoroughly checked (bunch of x-rays and that is it), you are handed cost right away at your first visit and with things you do not need or not asked for. The pros and cons of implant surgery will not be discussed at all, no discussion of the procedure with you at all. At least that was in my case. Just in and out. Please save your money, find a good oral surgeon close to you, who will care for you and your health. I went to this......um, I guess you have to call him a dentist, and he removed all of my upper teeth. I had to go back and have all the broken pieces removed after a few days. The temporary denture was an absolute joke. It was misaligned and was jammed into my mouth after surgery, ripping that piece of skin between the upper gum and the upper lip [I still have it here]. I received a letter from Affordable Dentures wanting me to sign a waiver saying I would not tell anyone about the pathetic experience I had with this "dentist" before he would return my money [I still have the letter too]......So he still owes me over $600 for the bad temporary denture I could never use and the prepay for the regular denture I never received. If you like rip, shred, tear dentistry......Mehta is your man. Also, I didn't mention that he attended a seminar in Mexico about implants and now he does implants, and that came from him........Third world dentistry anyone? I went in knowing I would need a full set of dentures. I had been putting this off for years because I always had a fear of dentist ever since I was a little girl! I had seen about 3 other dentist in the area prior to coming to affordable dentures and implants and I was surprised that they actually are affordable! The last place quoted me at over $15,000! I had my teeth pulled about a week after my consultation and went one step further and actually got implants to support my bottom plate. The staff was so comforting, and they answered every question without hesitation. I could help but chuckle when I read this other review on yelp before getting my teeth pulled and implants placed they go over LOTS of paper work and Consent forms. One thing I have learned about my many years of being in the medical field is READ the papers before you sign and do your research! But never the less I was shaking in my boots when I went in but after I spoke to a couple of the nurses they assured my I could do this! This place is great and the docs are too.
