I have been a patient at Baskin Clinic for 11 years and have always been pleased and impressed with…read morethe high level of personalized care, expertise and professionalism (also kindness and respect) that I have received over the years. Dr. Heather is a very skilled physician and I also know she CARES... Rebecca is extremely good at lab work; she is able to draw my blood on the very first try, which is just short of a miracle. (The last time I was at the hospital an ultrasound specialist had to be called in special to use it to find my very tiny veins, and Rebecca can do it on the first try!) I trust Baskin Clinic with my life and look forward to a lifetime of excellent care from a highly qualified clinic. Thank you Dr. Heather and all of Baskin Clinic. The one who I read had openings was not my first choice, so I was led to believe that another doctor, whose online bio appealed to me, would be shown the form I filled out and I'd get a response. So, I never got a response. I called in June to remind her and was told "the doctor was on vacation" blah blah blah. She promised she would show the doctor my inquiry and I'd hear back either way. This didn't happen. That conversation was on June 5th and it is now over a month later. I give up on this practice. How can you be offering "concierge" medicine which is supposed to devote extra time to patients and completely ignore a potential new patient who is willing to jump in and pay the practice MONTHLY whether being seen or not? Ugh.

I have met many, many doctors in tackling my chronic illness, and by far Dr. Matin was the most…read moreattentive, knowledgeable of them all. I was in so much pain, there would be weeks when I was in a living hell from the pain and debilitation. Dr. Matin succeeded in pulling me back from the edge of hopelessness and despair, and not only restoring my health, but adjusting my lifestyle so I live healthier and stronger than I have ever been in the past 20+ years. He was an incredible listener, asking pointed questions and listening to the circumstances around my condition for a long time (~hour), longer than any other doctor, friend, or family member had taken to consider my illness. He was not satisfied with relieving my immediate symptoms, although that was a priority. He was determined to get to the root cause. We worked together to get to the bottom of an ongoing, enigmatic, and ever-changing condition. He was able to recommend high quality lab tests, and distinguish between what was relevant and what was noise. His prognosis was not a lazy wide net cast over a variety of possible causes, but rather a sophisticated, justified, and precise treatment. He drew from a large body of knowledge of how all functions of the body worked together, and was articulate in why he was recommending each of his treatments. Combination of lifestyle changes, herbal supplements, and dietary restrictions relieved the symptoms, and I was able to wean off my dependence on pharmaceutical drugs in a mere couple of weeks. He did not just recommend tests; he recommended the most accurate, visually expressive, high grade tests from the most reliable laboratories in the US. I nearly left NYC to return home because of how debilitated I was; Dr. Matin's treatment and solutions allowed me to stay here to pursue my work and my passion with more natural energy and fervor than I had before. He was always kind, polite and sympathetic, and kept in touch frequently to make sure my condition improved. For whatever hell you are going through, please see Dr. Matin!

For almost 15 years I had suffered with unbearable hot flashes and stomach pain. I saw naturopathic…read moredoctors , internal medicine doctors, gastroenterologists with numerous endoscopies, colonoscopies, lab tests and different medication including antibiotic regimens too. None of these methods helped me fix my problems and, even worse, none of them provided any conclusive results, it was such a frustrating experience. I even tried a difficult and tortuously-strict gluten-free diet for a long period of time with no relief either. Finally I met Dr. Shamim Matin and immediately felt his goal was to simply find a source of my issues rather than get me out of the door with a new medication to "try and see how I do." He ordered 3 types of specific blood test as well as a stool test and after the results came back he sat with me and explained every small detail regarding the findings of the tests. He didn't rush through anything and truly felt motivated to educate me about my own health, an experience that I have never had at any other doctor visits. Dr. Matin was able to deduce at specific diet and supplement regimen that was based solely on MY lab results and physical examination rather than some generalization of symptoms that other doctors tried to constantly placed me into. Now after our visits, I am 6 months free of ANY problems I had before, I am a different person with no pain, no bloating, no hot flashes, more energy and I feel so healthy and happy that I was able to find a solution that actually SOLVED my problems rather than simply masked them with different meds that needed to be changed every few weeks because they didn't actually attack the source. I cannot emphasize how much of an amazing experience I had with the amount of attention and detail Dr. Matin provided me, it was the first time that I felt the doctor was as motivated as me to find a solution and it is an experience I hope every human being can have, we trust our doctors so much and to feel you're their priority when we go in with different issues is something that unfortunately has become so rare. What I learned from Dr. Matin and our visits was that certain bacteria in our guts, just like during infections, for example, can overgrow and cause a lot of different symptoms, and a lot of doctors simply give medication to control the symptoms. Dr. Matin showed me through every visit what his goal was, his reason for doing it, and also evidence and science of why and how it works to eradicate the actual source of the symptoms. Thank you so much for changing my life! I thought getting older meant learning to deal with more problems and pains, I didn't know it was possible to be completely symptom free. I wish knew you 15 years ago and didn't suffer all those years, but I am glad and hopeful that my experience can serve others going through similar chronic issues in finding a solution. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Matin for anyone that feels they have been passed around from one office to the next without any real change in their health problems.

This review is for the office since I didn't actually get to my appointment (part of it is on me…read moreand part of it is on them). At first, I couldn't even get an appointment as a new patient, but then I got a referral. Even then I had to wait four months. Healthcare shortages... I get it. Some places give reminder calls. This place didn't. Instead, I got a call the afternoon before about my insurance which recently changed. Other places (OHSU) called a week before but this clinic called at the very last minute. When I called them back to give them the new number I had to repeat the information 5 or 6 times and I kept being told it was invalid. Later I found out that the person didn't have a lot of experience entering insurance information and it was user error on their part. I wasn't given any other information like how early to get their etc. most doctors offices do automated reminder calls emails with this kind of info but I was only given the basics. I got stuck in traffic on the way to an 8 am appointment. I tried calling at 7:45 to tell them I'd be 10-15 minutes late but couldn't get through and was told to call at 8 when the office opened. Called at 8 and was on hold for 15 plus minutes. When I finally got through to someone I was told it was too late to check in (even though I already checked in online and filled out a bunch of forms). Then I was told that I had to reschedule. Then I was told there were no available times that I could be rescheduled to. I get that I was late and they are understaffed but I wish that they could have at least referred me somewhere else. This is the first time I was late somewhere and the office couldn't fit me in or reschedule. Communication from the office could be a lot better.

Had an appointment with Dr Young in April. Was contacted 2 days prior by a scheduler stating Dr…read moreYoung was having 'credentialing issues' and that he could not see me. I was scheduled with another doctor who was fine, but recently received a bill for $141 out of pocket cost for the consult which I've never received from the clinic in the past. Contacted my insurance provider thinking it was a mistake and was informed that the provider I saw was 'out of network' and therefore was not fully covered under my plan.. I reached out to the clinic via MyChart to clarify that I only saw the physician I was scheduled with as Dr Young couldn't see me as originally planned and that I shouldn't be held accountable for a bill I wouldn't have received otherwise. They responded stating the bill was my full responsibility and that they have no plan on fixing the issue. Absolutely the most distasteful and inappropriate way to care for patients, all this clinic seems to care about is collecting that $$$ even if it was a credentialing/scheduling error on their part. I also clarified I wanted to speak with the supervisor who reviewed the message and have been ignored since. I personally work as a medical assistant in the same building and would not recommend this clinic or any of their physicians to any patients who intend to have their care as a first priority. Will be seeking a new primary care physician elsewhere in the future.

He will take the time to review your medical information and is sure you understand it. He will never rush you out, or make you feel he's in a hurry or too busy to spend time with you. By the way, he's funny, kind and very concerned with your entire life and how it effects your health. He won't hesitate to point out how your life decisions effect the way your body (and your mind; they are kinda connected) feel. His office is small, friendly and very welcoming. It's located on Scholls Ferry Road. If you're even remotely near that area, and looking for a Primary Care Physician, I whole-heartedly recommend you have visit with Dr. McBride and his team. I'm over 57 years old, and have had a number of Docs in my time, he is certainly my favorite.

He's hesitant to overprescribe and doesn't rack up unnecessary charges for you (or the insurance company for that matter). They have a nice small lab on the premises that seems to help with quick results (not sure if that's common). Typically I just visit for my annual physical but I'm a big fan, yes he can be brusque (as another reviewer put it) but I find it necessary. If I liked hockey I might give him a six-star review (currently not an option).
