I'm a fan of ben and Jerry's ice cream! When I left work and went down to the concourse level at Rockefeller Center, you can immediately smell the cookies and the brownies. I usually go for ice cream, but since I was on the run, I just went and got a cookie and a dark chocolate brownie. Both are delicious! I brought my friend who is visiting from out of town to Rockefeller center, to see the top of the rock. We went to get some ice cream to enjoy while watching the skaters at the rink. While this is a smaller shop, there is NO excuse for how the employees at this Ben and Jerry's treated my friend, her husband and I. My friend has used wheelchair since childhood. Disgusting! The owner was brutal with her management skills and screamed at my child with dyslexia when trying to pronounce the flavor. The ice cream was freezer burned and had moldy specks. I grew up around here and to see this place go to shame is depressing. I feel awful for all of the teenagers having to work at this place, their treatment is terrible. We love Ben & Jerry's - we've been to the factory in VT, my son's favorite thing to wear is his tie dye Ben and Jerry's shirt, and there has never been a flavor I didn't like. That said, I was disappointed in this location. They claimed that they do not provide sample scoops, which was news to me...since when?? I would have understood if it was packed, but we were one of two groups in the restaurant. This doesn't seem in keeping with the ethos of the founders. Also, they don't have kid size cups which was also news to me - what toddler needs 2 full scoops of ice cream (which is the smallest serving they offer)? We won't be back at this location. read more

Great service! I have a severe peanut allergy and I am usually very nervous when it comes to ice cream shops. Although there will always be the chance of cross contamination, this location had a great system for customers with allergies and I felt comfortable enough to take the chance. The employee got new gloves, grabbed a spatula, scraped all of the top of the ice cream, and then scooped from the very bottom with a clean scoop to make sure there would be little to no cross contamination. They had even stated that if I chose a flavor that had very little left and they couldn't get to the bottom of it, they would grab a new batch for me. Overall a great experience! read more

Every time I walk past here I smell the fresh waffle cones they are making. I'm glad that over the years they have added a dairy free option so we can all enjoy! While attempting a 2nd visit to the LEGO store I decided to take a short cut this time through the Concords connecting the subway station and the ice skating ring area. I wanted to avoid the crowds of tourist that is usually circling the Rockefeller block at 1 mile per hour. I picked the south corridor of the Concords of shops because it was a turn to the right; make sense? No. This Friday evening I was really dragging my bud and could use a shot of sugar. Half way down the Concords I could not believe my eyes but a Ben & Jerry's; how lucky am I! I got my favorite two scoops ($4), Cherry Garcia and NY Super Fudge Chunk, to get me moving! "I scream! I scream for ice cream!" Ben & Jerry's the best place for the crave. This branch is situated in the underground level of Rockefeller Center. They serve their ice cream in cones, cups and bowl sizes. I had my chocolate sundae in cone with sprinkles on top. It was such a treat ! The sweetness and smoothness were just what I was looking for. The downside though of this place is the small sitting area. There are available seats in the dining center but I can't wait to finish it at once. That's how good their ice cream was. They offer more than ice cream too. As it is so close to Top of the rock ticket window,, it was little crowded on the time of the visit . read more

This is my second complaint that I sent to their corporate headquarters. I hope they're keeping track. This time what should have been a pleasant free scoop of ice cream for my birthday turned very bad quickly. 1. Printing coupons is outdated and costly. I don't have a printer. The coupon is beautiful vibrant colors that cost a small fortune in ink. My daughter gets very upset when I ask her to print. I spent $45 for a new cartridge to make peace with her. 2. If the headquarters keeps records they would know they had a shop on East 86 street. That was at least 10 years ago. I've been trying to get that location taken out of YELP. The phone number is for a mental health group home owned by Postgraduate Center for Mental Health. Keeping that in mind, I travel all the way from UES to Rockefeller Center Shop for ice cream. I purchase pints like crazy. I am a good customer. 3. Then this happens: I go in with my "birthday" coupon (this past Friday 12th of Feb) to the shop in Rockefeller Center. I'm turned away suspected of duplicating my coupon. Why can't the use be verified when you're keeping a hand written paper log book. Because I had the buy one get one free in November for my 6 mo. Chunk mail anniversary, I was told I already got my free scoop! How hard is it to scan or enter the bar code??!! It is because the technology is outdated. I was trying to give him my ID to prove it's my birthday. I tried to show him my current email! No luck. 4. NEXT; I was told to come back the manager is supposed to be in soon!!. When I returned not only was the manager there but someone from Vermont corporate office. Once again the store manager made me think my coupon had already been used by someone. They would have had to hack my computer or Internet. Then I was made to feel like he was doing me a favor by letting me have the free scoop this time. He said he would eat the cost. Please! The mgr gave my coupon to the Ben and Jerry corporate rep and said to show it to the people at headquarters. I certainly hope he did. They need to look at my reviews on Yelp. I'm the top Yelper at that location. It has gone downhill since I joined the email club. 5. If my identity is compromised I'll know where it happened. He took my drivers license to check my birthday. I don't know what else might be written in their PAPER log book for all to see. A bday treat of a dollar coupon off a pint and send it in the mail would be better. At least I can go to the store and get a pint. I'm spending over $5 for the train to go to midtown! Plus I'm divulging my personal information that they are keeping in an insecure manner. End of story. Thanks to all my Yelper friends for cheering up my birthday. I won't bother you with my Ben and Jerry's stories, tips or pictures any more. I hope:-) I'll check the likes. Maybe it's just me.. but I don't think the price of $8 for a small cone is that ridiculous for NYC. The cones are giant, chocolate/sprinkle dipped waffle cones and the "small scoop" feels like they try to pack an entire pint into the cone for you. We discovered this joint after finishing up our tour of Top of the Rock and we're glad we did. It was 90 degrees out and we were craving something cool and sweet.
