So yeah, Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream locations like this one at the Tanger Outlet Mall in North Myrtle is overpriced...you know this going in. Good thing about this location, they have a BOGO coupon in the Attractions book and they accept it! Lots of flavors to choose from and the counter chickie will let you sample a couple, two, tree if you want before you actually solidify your order choice. Waffle cones made in house and there are a few tables inside so you can avoid melting in that blazin' North Myrtle heat. It's a small location and it can get busy as families of 9 will hop in and bust out the credit card. A small cone/cup is two scoops and is like $5.50 and a large is three scoops and will set you back about 7 bones. read more

Mint chocolate chip is my favorite here, big chunks of chocolate. Free samples for those who are unfamiliar with this thing called ice cream. Some outdoor seating available, also plenty of benches in nearby area. $4.50 something for the smallest cup. Reducing plastic use is important yes, but I didn't like the wooden spoons, because it leaves a very slight taste of wood in your mouth with each spoon. read more

You would think that in these Covid times serving customers and getting sales would be important. My family arrived at 8:56 PM, the doors were open and there were 8 people in line. Despite all this, we were told that they would not serve us. The only reasonable explanation is that the employees wanted to get home. Beyond disappointing considering we raced to get there before they closed. I asked for the manager/owners number and got attitude as they gave it to me. Of course I've had Ben & Jerry's ice cream before but I'd never been to one of their ice cream shops. We are in Myrtle Beach on vacation and as it seemed like it was 100 degrees yesterday, we decided to hit Broadway at the Beach to get some ice cream and headed straight for Ben & Jerry's. Totally disappointed. First, they were out of cookie dough ice cream. How do you run out of the most popular flavor? Instead, I opted for Cherry Garcia in a sprinkle dipped waffle cone . It was ok but not something I'd order again. My son got vanilla in a waffle cone. He's new to the waffle cone thing so he didn't know any better but it was not crunchy at all, it seemed stale. Floppy and soft. Eww. Lastly, the service was pretty bad. They had at least 4 people working. A couple of them were smiley and friendly but the woman that took our order obviously didn't want to be there. I got the feeling I was bothering her just by being there. I am specifically speaking about the Ben & Jerry's next to RetroActive in Broadway at the Beach. My boyfriend and I were looking for a cold treat over Memorial Day weekend. Pretty typical; except I have Celiac disease and have to maintain an strict gluten-free diet. Chains like this can be pretty dicey... especially in tourist cities where the counter is staffed with summer stock that really doesn't care. I asked a young woman behind the counter if she could point out which flavors were gluten-free. She left and returned with a binder filled with laminated pages detailing which ice cream flavors are safe for allergy sufferers and people like me. I happily chose a flavor, knowing it wouldn't make me sick. Another young woman would be scooping for us, and went to get a clean scoop from the back, to prevent cross-contamination. She removed the box of ice cream to get to the unopened box below it -- so that I could be assured my ice cream would be fresh and uncontaminated. I couldn't be happier with the attention paid to my special request; all I asked for was guidance on safe flavors and the employees went the extra mile to ensure a safe and enjoyable treat. I went in and asked if they had gluten free flavors and the employee got a book listing all the GF ice creams. They were great about avoiding cross-contamination, asking if I had an allergy and taking extra precautions with scoopers, opening a new carton, etc. Awesome job; keep up the good work here! An employee tried to serve other customers before me even though I was ahead of them in line. Also toppings cost extra (which is unclear) and I didn't know that so when the cashier asked me what I ordered and I only mentioned ice cream, the same employee from before rushed over saying I got a topping and when I tried to apologize she gave me a nasty attitude. I won an ice cream cake from Ben and Jerry's for my 65th birthday through our local radio station. I thought I just had to call and tell them. Wrong. I called and got Vinny. I was told to pick 2 flavors of ice cream (and of course because I'm this old, I don't know the flavors anymore!) and also had to pick a middle. Well, I love chocolate and Vinny gave me some suggestions. I more or less let him know how much I loved chocolate, so he made my cake with ALL chocolate and even the frosting which also had brownies on it. I was asked what wording I wanted on the cake and I told him, "MEDICARE APPROVED". He said he'd do that and he did. I had more fun with this cake and talk about delicious? It was so good. They made my taste buds extremely happy. I had only gone there for ice cream, but never an ice cream cake. I will definitely go back there if I ever need one. They are the best there and so is Vinny! I asked whether the cone given to me was medium size, and I think the associate said yes, but I wasn't sure and asked another staffer, so the first heard it and said angrily: "It is a small".
