I have NEVER experienced such poor customer service in all my life! I called Bello's Food Market on Tuesday, November 14 at 10:57am and spoke to someone in the Meat Dept. I explained to him that I wanted to order 34 T-Bones/Porterhouses. He asked which one? I told him that I understand they come off the same roast, so to be nice to Bello's, I'd accept a mix of both so Bello's could use full roasts. I then told the person on the phone that I would be picking up the steaks on Tuesday, Nov. 21. Finally, he asked for my name, my phone number and how thick I wanted them cut. I told him that I didn't know what their standard cut was, but that I'd most likely want them cut a bit thicker. He said OK. On Tuesday, November 21 at 3pm, I called Bello's once again to check on my order. I told the person that I would be coming between 5pm and 6pm and wanted to make certain my steaks were ready. He asked if I had placed an order, and I told him I had. His response was that because the meat dept. would be closed when I arrived, he would put them in the case, and I could just grab them from there. That sounded odd, but I said OK. He finished off by saying they had been fresh cut that day! My wife and I arrived at Bello's at 4:55pm, and there was no one in the Meat Dept. The T-Bones and Porterhouses in the case didn't look good, and we found one or 2 packs that were dated 11/21. Several were dated 11/18, so they were NOT cut fresh that day! We asked the kind lady at the register for help. She couldn't find the steaks, so she called someone. The person on the phone knew nothing about the order, and we were asked to come back the following day. Unfortunately, we drove 60 miles and weren't going to make a return trip. I can understand that accidents happen and the first guy regretfully forgot to file my order. But... on the 2nd phone call the guy lied to me that the steaks were there AND he lied again when he said they were cut fresh that day. read more

Bought ribs and cooked them low and slow for hours only to find out at dinner that they were fatty and tasteless, this has happened before with chicken I've purchased there, I will not be returning there again. Sad when you pay so much for meat you can't even serve it to your family. I will make sure my family and friends shop elsewhere. read more

This is a wonderful neighborhood grocery. They generally have whatever you need for meal preparation. Usually, there are some spectacular deals on family pack meats like chicken and hamburger. The deli has delicious offerings that are made daily. We shop here often. read more

This is such a great little spot, but the staff really brings it down and I'm obviously not the only one that feels this way. Today, the older women at the register and the deli solidified why I will never return. I've walked into the store multiple times to no greeting, but a deer in the headlights look from the cashier. 'Can I help you?' was grumbled by the woman in the deli as if I was bothering her work. Needless to say, I walked out with no items. They are unhappy people who don't belong on the front line of greeting people and being the faces of an establishment. Too bad the ownership doesn't realize this and/or follow Yelp reviews, unless the women are relation/spouses. Either way, they will continue to drive money to other businesses. read more

I've been here a few times, and up until yesterday, it has always been a pleasant experience. It's a cute little local grocery store, and I would rather shop local when I can, even if I need to go a little out of my way to do so. I stopped in yesterday close to closing time to pick up a few items. A few of the staff members were very rude. I understand wanting to be done with work so that you can go home, but that shouldn't be discussed loud enough for the store to hear you. At the register, the customer should have your attention and respect. Side conversations can wait. This is a local grocery store with other options available. Here we are, almost 2 years after my first review. The same problems exist with the W 8th street store. It is still in serious need of a deep clean. You would have thought that the pandemic would have made this abundantly clear. The smell from the "fresh fish" made me turn around and leave. Again with the online ads! It is now 2 weeks out of date. Sorry folks, but at this time, I won't go unless I know what is on sale. I realize Bello's is known for their meats, and don't want to post pricing due to the fluctuating markets, but there are other items that could be advertised. It is clear from other posters comments that nothing has been done about the attitudes of their front of the house employees. They need to be reminded they have jobs because we shop there. read more

I do like Bello's. I've been there many times. Never had a bad experience. Love the deli and meat dept. They carry many specialty items that others don't have. I rarely buy anything else there. I hope the attitudes of the store change. I would hate to see them go under like so many others. read more

I wanted to check out Bello's Market since it was only down the street from me, and would be a convenient market to shop at. We're new in town, but had already heard about the couponing reality show fiasco that occurred there. I wasn't going to use coupons, so it didn't really bother me. Anyways, I needed a green pepper and a can of tomato paste- both of which they had, but the quality of the produce was sickening. Everything was bruised and not quite fresh. They also put over-ripe bananas in a shopping cart to sift through. It wasn't really attractive. There was a woman taking inventory in this section, but not sorting the bad from the passable produce. The deli area was not welcoming, and the cashier (one of the family members?). Did not greet me, or even make eye contact with me. He seemed miserable. Unfriendly staff, they could care less about the customers. Most act as if it is a burden to wait on you. Overpriced and many items expired. Poor selection overall. I try to support local businesses, but not this one. It is close to where I live, but I will not be going back. read more

This is one of the last true privately owned grocery stores in the tri-state area. They've carved out (pun intended!) a great market for themselves with high quality meats at low prices and a fantastic deli. The deli is really the shining star. They make everything there from scratch including some of the best antipasto salad you'll ever have. Prices on meats like bacon and ground round will be lower than any of the national chains. I wouldn't necessarily go here for things like soap, trash bags, and so on because the prices there aren't the greatest. But, if you like a quaint old time grocery store with a killer deli & butcher this is the place to go in Erie. read more

( Elizabeth)Because I did not empty my carry basket on to the belt... she just glared at me then proceeded to dump my things on to the counter. Luckily my deli things didn't leak or come open. Ive been shopping @ Bello's for almost a decade for my family. I usually buy meats for the month. This past Monday afternoon I went shopping for my monthly meats, the manager (I assume a Bello) walked with such a straight dissatisfied face through the store. Being the chipper me, I looked at him and smiled and told him to smile. He wisked by as if I was nuts and went to the back room by the meat department. Another female worker who heard the kind gesture to him gave me a dirty look. She then thought I had left the area and started making comments about how the last person told her to smile etc etc...in a very negative, rude , and vulgar comment. I felt belittled, embarrassed, disrespected and offended as a committed customer to had been the laugh of someones miserable day. Shame on that manager for allowing his employee to make rude comments and SHAME on him for being so rude to a customer!!! Im done there!!!! read more

Your typical store, to a certain point. A lot of the staff is expired, and over priced. All they care about is money. It's pretty bad when the owner won't pay the employees more than a certain amount. This place is more like high school, than a store. All the way they make fun of people on public assistance, is a shame. If you go there, make sure the people in the meat room have gloves on. Because one of them don't. Buy the way, if the product is so fresh, then why does it go bad a day after you buy it? I guess that so called owner, put up cameras thinking it would stop people from stealing.
