As renters, my family has lived in a number of places till we were able to purchase our home this month. Most of our landlords were pretty good, one was objectionable. Bellevue Real Estate takes the cake in bad management. They lost the check that my husband gave them for the security deposit and the first bit of rent. We were called and asked to bring another several weeks later when she realized she had lost it and we obliged. After that, we never heard from her for anything except when the owner was coming through and wanted to see the property. She is never in the office and does not answer phone calls. The move out was the nightmare. In every place we ever rented, we always received 100% of the security deposit back because we take care of the place. After we vacated and cleaned, she walked through without advising us that she was going to or when, and sent a list of nit-picky things that were "not clean" (most of which were, two of which were legitimately not sparkling), the screen door for the back deck (which was damaged when we moved in and noted on the move in sheet) and a few stains left in my daughter's room from when she got sick that I hadn't been able to fully remove and was hoping the steam cleaning would take out). She was going to try to charge us for them and move on, but we do have the right by law to fix any discrepancy she notes. We put pressure on her and went in and fixed everything. Over the course of a few extra days I was also able to remove all the stains from the carpet. We did just go ahead and pay for the screen but it begs the question, what did she do with the money she certainly charged the people before us? The screen was still damaged when we moved in, so it seems she probably pocketed it and took ours on top of that (we have kids, there were a few more holes). We were also charged for cleaning four stains out of the room that I had already successfully cleaned. We also received one garage door opener upon moving in. Apparently there were two when she began managing the home that she or someone else lost along the way. The owner of the home was not happy with her services and switched property management companies so she had to account for it. She tried to charge us for an opener that we never had in our possession. We also fought enough on that one to make her back down. In an e-mail she stated that she "waived" the fee for something we never had. Dishonest to the last. If you do have to rent from this company I advise that you be well versed in Nebraska state laws on renting and refuse to back down. She relies on lack of knowledge and the ability to bully to carry out her dishonest practices. Don't give her those two things and she has no leg to stand on and must treat you lawfully. It's a shame that getting her to behave in a fair, legal manner is as much of as hassle as it was for us. Thankfully we are done and can move on. read more
