When I called to make an appointment, the person on the phone wasn't very warm and sounded really annoyed to even have to talk to me. I assumed it was just a receptionist but it turned out to be Reyna. I booked a 60 minute Swedish massage and a clarifying facial. My facial with Miri wasn't at all like I expected it to be. I have some pretty dark scarring from the extractions and I'm worried it'll lead to bad hyperpigmentation. She also kept trying to upsell (I did end up doing the microdermabrasion for + $20) but I was uncomfortable with the 3+ times she suggested to bring me back in for some facial waxing. I know I have peach fuzz, but I don't really mind it. I don't think women should have to be so self conscious about it. I didn't realize that the cold voice on the other end of the phone would be my masseuse, Reyna. It was extremely difficult to relax due to the setup of the place, the reception and lobby area were right next to the room and all I could hear were really loud conversations. The ambient nature noises in the massage room did not help. It was actually pretty upsetting that what was meant to be a nice and serene escape from life was... just... not. I told her I've been having extremely tense shoulder and neck pain and did circle those on the chart. My favorite place to go to for massages is G-Medical Massage Spa in Long Beach, but I couldn't make the drive out this week. So, I have a comparison to work off of in terms of the quality of body work and actually feeling some relief post-visit. My shoulders were still tense since she didn't really use enough pressure nor did it feel like she was tuned into my body the way that I've had other masseuses tap in. Considering her coldness towards me from the jump (aside from the lukewarm forced smile before showing me the massage room), I didn't feel comfortable speaking up about any adjustments I wanted. Would you? Also would have expected a comfier lobby. It was hot, not aesthetically pleasing, and it would've been nice if they had cold water. They had some room temp bottled water... but something as simple as a dispenser of cold cucumber water makes a huge difference. 3/5, did not live up to expectations. Regret spending my money here. It was meant to be a special post-grad treat to myself but I feel like I didn't get the pampering I expected for the price point.

I booked a facial here recently specifically because I had an inflamed pimple on my chin that I was hoping could be treated before an important event. I drove about 40 minutes and paid $150 for the service. The aesthetician was very kind and professional, but the service itself did not meet expectations. There was no steam or warm compress used, the towels were cool, and no meaningful extractions were performed. The only area that seemed to be addressed was some oil around my nose. The primary concern I came in for was not treated or discussed, and I left with the same inflamed lesion I arrived with. I completely understand that not all breakouts are appropriate for extraction, but this was never communicated during the service. I followed up directly and through customer service. While they were responsive, I was told a refund was not possible and was instead offered a discount on a future service or a complimentary 30-minute facial. Unfortunately, that does not address the outcome of the original service. I was also told that an email had been sent to me, which I never received (including checking my spam folder), which added to the frustration. This experience unfortunately changed my perception of a place I used to trust, and I don't see myself returning. Sharing this so others can make an informed decision.

In any case, the billions of data points that they use to determine a real review came to the wrong conclusion...because I really did feel like I was floating after that facial. Rarely can I achieve such a state of deep relaxation, except maybe at the end of a yoga session when you're lying there in dead mans pose and you feel a little floaty. Gaby was AMAZING!!! The scent, feel, stroke of the Verabella products she was using during the facial...also AMAZE! Some of them tingle a bit which I guess means that they're doing their job like anything designed to take off all the dead cells would. The steam machine also feels great and I guess having all those open pores increases the tingle effect. I'm pretty sure she did a bunch of extractions too, but who the hell knows because I was fairly drifty as if somebody slipped something into my drink...so if she did I didn't really feel it that much and there certainly weren't any red marks like I've had at other places where they beat you up. All sum totaled, Verabella is the real deal and now I know why the critics say this is the place to go once you're a celebrity, or just because you want to feel like one.

However my experience during facial was a bit uncomfortable. While the aesthetician was polite, they asked a lot of personal questions through out the session. It made it difficult for me to fully relax and enjoy what is meant to be a calming experience. I do not believe there was any ill intent, and I truly think this is a lovely business. I would simply suggest being a bit more mindful of clients' desire for privacy and relaxation during treatments. With that small adjustment, the experience could be excellent. The space is still extremely clean and welcoming in shades of gray, white and silver. As expected, Jefrey is there to greet you and go over what you want done before proceeding. The table is very comfortable, and his demeanor puts you at ease right away. This was my first Oxygen Facial so I was looking forward to this. I just knew to tell him no glycolic acid, and we were good to go. The formulas felt amazing from the cleanser to the moisturizer, and everything in between. The brush he used to apply the product was even relaxing. He did some manual extractions which didn't hurt as much as I thought they would; I really had some around the nose area which is common, but his technique was extremely gentle. RF (radio frequency) was another highlight; I don't think I ever had this done before but it was a cool feeling. My favorite part was the oxygen blast to the skin which was really refreshing. She took such great care of my skin, and cleaned all my pores. After, she applied the HiFu machine. HiFu stands for High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound. It stimulates collagen, which tightenined and lifted my skin. It especially helped my jawline! We made sure I was comfortable, and even at the highest and most effective setting it was smooth! Akemi has such a great touch. I felt very safe with her, and I also had no downtime. My skin felt soft with no annoying redness the next day. Akemi was so accommodating, and my skin is so much tighter now. I would recommend going in with Akemi 1-2 times a month with the HiFu treatment! I love it.
