We also had an ongoing issue with ants I'm not really sure why but after the last time we left bait out they stopped coming (something like 6 months ago). Lived here for just over two years. I noticed in the other reviews trash piling up. That hasn't happened in a while although I do occasionally see a couple bags by the compactor.

Although they did, finally, paint some of the worst areas. But it is like lipstick on a pig. The buildings are old and rundown. The wood is crumbling at the base of the exterior walls. My deck looks like a bad sunburn with all the peeling paint. The majority of the ponds are dirty and no longer have fountains.The population of the buildings has undergone a notable change and no longer reflects the demographics of the city. The rapid change has been odd and disconcerting. The pool is incredibly loud and disruptive. Posted rules are ignored and broken every day. The gates are not secured and everyone and anyone from the community (including little kids) walks in. The office staff does nothing more than offer lip service to the issues. In short, this is no longer a good place to live. Go elsewhere is my heartfelt advice. You'll be happier there!

We came across many funky owners/managers who had scary leases, huge deposits and "cleaning fees"... Very simple, clear and concise lease. They even include that you MAY pound nails into the walls and leave the nail holes, as it's "normal" wear and tear. Other places we looked at say you have to do the patching/painting should you decide to hang up paintings, etc. or that you could NOT do so. Who wants to live with bare walls?? They are pet friendly, with all buildings allowing cats. The historic Lewis and Clark buildings allow dogs and cats. (very gorgeous buildings, by the way) The only fee associated with having pets is $100 for flea treatment of the place when you move out. My cat's flea free, but I was glad to know that there wouldn't be any flea eggs left behind from the previous tenant, so we're glad they use the precaution. Choice of lease terms; 6 months or one year. Once you satisfy the lease, you continue renting on a month-to-month basis which gives the flexibility and freedom to move any month thereafter. They have many cool historic properties and should you decide to move into another one of their buildings, you are released from your current lease then just sign a new one for the new place. T They are professional, friendly, helpful, prompt to make repairs, courteous and always notify you in advance if they need to access your unit. One Sunday, we noticed we weren't getting hot water, called them and they put a call out to one of their maintenance guys who was off duty, and he came within an hour of our call. Legally, they would have had 24 hours to repair it, but were we ever thankful to not have to forgo a shower for a day :-) They said they have a policy to always answer the phone, day or night, or return your call right away. They are way too nice. They do NOT rent to druggies/felons which is a major plus!!! And I should mention that each of their properties are in a great neighborhood (Stadium District/North Tacoma, all on Yakima Ave or within one block of Yakima), all within about 6 blocks of each other. Oh, and NO nasty old carpeting, in any of their buildings. Either old hardwoods or "wood-like" linoleum. They were clean and modern with retro styling. The manager was a fantastic help and during our tour found that we enjoyed some similarities including WWE. My wife and I actually spent like an hour just talking with him he was so friendly and welcoming, they offered tons of amenities and even the small studios were fairly large and offered at a reasonable price. Ultimately this property made it into our final top three for both my wife and myself but we needed just a little more space and wanted to be closer to downtown. I would recommend this place and suggest that you put them on your stop to check out if your apartment hunting.

I've never had any issues with the staff and have always found everyone polite and quick to respond if any issues occur. Parking is a challenge but this is the first apartment I've ever lived in so I'm sure parking is a huge challenge in most places, especially one as large this. Patty is fantastic and has always gone out of her way to help when needed. Be ready for lots of kids and craziness during the summer but that's something I enjoy. I've only had to call for maintenance once in the time that I've lived here and it was for my garbage disposal and it was fixed the next day. I would recommend anyone to live here as long as your family only has 1 or 2 cars, anymore than that would be big challenge. Thumbs up from me!!!
