We booked appointments for two pedicures for 11am and upon arriving we were immediately greeted and assigned to an employee (they have a chart system indicating who is currently working at what station and who is free). So the owner (I believe) used an intercom system and called to the back to get two employees out to handle our pedicures. We then were immediately sat in pedicure chairs and given nail color options and well as a very detailed black menu with all their services and pricing (along with descriptions of what is included in each pedicure). We both chose the Luxury Pedicure ($85 - gel polish an additional $15) and told to look at the Valcano Spa Menu page to pick our scent for the 10-step package. I chose Havana Secrets and it smelled like a tropical vacation but not overpowering. They spent a good amount of time going through the 10 step process and set a timer for 20 minute massage . I did have to ask her to go back and into the bottom of my feet a little bit more because there were still calluses. Overall pleased with the pedicure and would be back ! read more

This appointment was for gel x first time application. I took a three month break from gel x and decided to try this salon because it looked like they could do some nice designs. Artist was jacki. i've been going to Bella nails for years. What happened? I came w an appt on a Saturday. The place was completely empty. Women were sitting around lounging like they were at home. some without shoes on under the nail table. my technician was rushed and as a result, it was a really uncomfortable manicure, as she kept nicking my nails and cuticles with the drill. I've never experience anything like that before. I am not trying to be rude or disrespectful in anyway. It's just very noticeable that their standards are way down. read more

I had been getting my nails done for about 6 months here but the last time I went they could not get the dip off my nails. They said there was some type of acrylic on there- that would be used for fake nails -which I did not have. They resorted to trying to pull it off with cuticle trimmers. Wish I read the other reviews before I came back. The service is rough and sloppy and not as before. They try to upsell you and tell you what you need which of course costs more. The technician wanted to do gel on my toenails and when I declined, another on e came and roughly told me that gel was better etc etc. the man at the counter whom I assume is the owner or manager is also rough. You don't get a breakdown of the services you are being charged for and the total is written on a post it note. Their menu states they offer you beverages and they didn't. Will not go back read more

Got a pedicure from Cindy--she gouged my toenail so badly it bled. You can almost see the nail bed. The place is filthy--floors are disgusting, and there were nail clippings and shavings in the chair. Ever since the remodel, it's gone way downhill. Won't be back. read more

Last Sunday I went in for an appointment to get my gel x nails filled. During the appointment, the person doing my nails was extremely short with me, was honestly rude if I asked any questions, and rough with my hands and nails while filling. I began feeling a painful burning sensation and when I told him it hurt, he completely dismissed me and continued, then when I would flinch or say "ow" he would just tell me "relax your hand." Not only this, but he cured builder gel onto the skin on my thumb while filling in a piece that had broken while he used the drill on my nails, which has now become very painful, swollen, and is a small open wound. I have never had this issue before and have gotten gel x nails filled many times. I genuinely want my money back, definitely paid way too much for the quality of service I received. read more

The gels from the week earlier were so thick and I had asked him to put tips on my nails to make them longer, and they ultimately talked me out of it. DO NOT get waxed by this place. Omg. It was my first time getting a leg wax and I don't think I ever will again. I even came 10 min early, and she was acting like she was in a hurry?? The room in the back was dim lit and basically a closet. Not to mention someone walked in like 3 separate times. What if I was getting something other then my legs waxed??? She barely prepared me and just went for it. Ik they can't control the pain but wow. She didn't even get all the hair and I kept pointing out spots that she missed and she just keep reassuring me that she wasn't done. * I miss Nini * Here's why -- Yesterday morning, I arrived at 9am for my appointment with Nini. There were 6 ladies standing inside the doorway with only one technician to greet us. Normally, that place is bustling with employees working hard to start the day. Always smiling, greeting folks, and there was a lighteness in the room. It was at that moment, we all learned together that Nini and others are no longer there. She QUIT. Quit? What?? Why?! What happened? Must have been something terrible, but what? We knew Nini sold the business two weeks ago but the expectation was that she'd still work two days a week. The new owners were not there yet. No other employees were there, only one. (I know her name but I'm protecting her privacy to prevent any potential retaliation from the new owner!) The appointment book wasn't there because the owners took it and they weren't there...at 9am...when they open. Two of us were double booked for Nini at 9am because the owner booked one over the phone and mine was with Nini in person from 2 weeks prior. There is a Facebook group page called Gig Harbor's Most Wanted - Town Talk. Use Search feature and search Bella Nails. You'll see over a hundred comments. Folks are very upset about the new ownership and the treatment of the employees and customers. Heck, the 15-year-old son of the owners is the one responding in Yelp to customer comments in such a rude and unprofessional manner. Search below and you'll find it. He's quoted as saying, "...you got no idea what we talk about in our own language bro mind your own business" "Now for the tip part that's a you problem should've just not given a tip if you're gonna be like that" "Hannah was also let go a few days ago" "we're starting to take less walk-ins do we can focus on our clients" Please know, Nini ran her business so professionally. I've known her 20 years. She had a following of not only customers who drove miles and miles to see her but also over the years too. She remembered everyone's names and greeted them personally by name the moment they walked in. It's because of her, her employees, her kindness, her personality, relatability, and empathy that drew you to her. It was at that moment all 6 of us ladies looked at each other after learning Nini isn't there to fulfill the expectation of her being there two days a week and say, ok - where do we go now? Now that I've learned the new owners were not kind to Nini and her ladies and she quit because of them, I will no longer support Bella Nails as a business. I feel bad for any of Nini's ladies still working there because I know they feel a huge void in their hearts too and miss Nini terribly. Don't let the new owners fool you. Nini quit because of the treatment of the new owners. She didn't just "leave". She was mistreated. Just know that if you loved Nini and you still give your business to Bella Nails, you're supporting the new owners that harmed her. I'm sure their minor son, Loc B. will also advise me to "become a book writer it seems like you would do good with my yelp reviewer skill set". And I saw here on Yelp a gentleman asking where Brian went? Brian left months ago to take on a full time job. I won't go into details where/why, but just know both Nini and Brian are gone. read more

Today we visited Bela Nails, Gig Harbor, for our monthly pedicures. The air was thick with a smell of nervous energy and we learned Nini had sold the business, about two-weeks now. After my experience, yes, we will visit other Gig Harbor establishments before returning. Please let me preface this by saying I worked in the service industry as a waitress and bartender all through college and then some during the recession of 2008. I'm still in a customer-facing position as a senior professional, so for me to write a review like this, it has had to be bad. And sadly, it was not the first poor experience I had at Bella Nails. My daughter and I were celebrating the end of the school year, a mother-daughter tradition I'm starting. She wanted to feel special for her last two days, so Mama obliged with a mani and pedi. I called at 11:30 am for an appointment. Appointment was for 1 pm. That worked with our afternoon plans of lunch and a movie. My daughter ( 6 years old) and I waited 30 minutes in the pedicure chairs for someone to come and start our services. 30 minutes! Once it was finally starting, things seemed to be turning around. But not for long. Hannah, my nail tech, could not have been more absent-minded during the entire pedicure. Once my nail polish was completed, it was all done within 15 minutes. She was constantly looking everywhere other than what she was doing. She would then randomly get up and go do something. I can only guess she was trying to lay claim to her next client before the one she had was completed. She cut my nails without asking if I wanted to (I didn't want them cut but let it go so as not to make a fuss in front of my daughter.) Then, she started to do the cheese grater on my feet without asking. I don't get the grater on my feet for many reasons, and I'll spare you the gory details, but I wasn't asked if this was something I wanted. My SPA Pedicure, for which I paid extra, was completed in 15 minutes. My clay massage, non existant. The hot towel. Scolding. Lotion. Barely and the bare minimum of effort. To top it off, she wanted me to write out individual tips for the gals. There were four of them for two people and two services. That's excessive, but hey, that's how it is there now. Now, if she hadn't requested split tips, I would have done a large lump sum for them to split equally. Not like one did more than the other. Though the gal who did my daughter's nails. Shes a doll and I appreciate her making my daughter feel special. I wish I knew her name. She and Tina did my daughter. But no, Hannah wanted me to list out tips for each. I get it, cost of services- expected tip. Well, I gave her a tip that reflected the effort of her service. Shes lucky she got anything. But then the clincher, the most TACKY thing, you NEVER EVER DO IN THE SERVICES INDUSTRY is go up to the customer and point out the tips, asking questions and start making a fuss in another language, standing next to customer the entire time. I offered to explain why she got a half tip but she stormed off. I was then explained to by Tina and apologized for the poor experience that they were short-handed. Gal on vacation and one sick. I understand that and empathize with them as a team trying to run the business with the demand. Thats why I waited over 20 minutes before saying something about our appointment. However, if you are short-handed. Then schedule accordingly so you don't have a customer waiting for a half hour. But most importantly, teach your text basic manners regarding services and tipping. I wish I could I'd give them another chance, but unfortunately, three strikes your out. And this was the third one. The worse one but the third. Oh one last detail, I watched as the bowls for your maniure nail soak was dumped and then rinsed with plane water. No cleaning at all. I'm sorry, there are germs etc that can come from your hands...ewe. read more

When I called to see the cost of a regular mani/pedi the person said it was $60. I asked if they carried OPI nail polishes and she said they did, However, when we arrived, I saw only a few OPI polishes on the stand so I was disappointed in the selection. They had polishes that I've never heard of. Also, if you giving this as a gift to someone and the technician ask if you want a flower painted on a toe, that will cost an additional $10. read more

I walked out mid-manicure after the technician hit me three times with the sander and tried to cut off the end of my finger with the clippers. Very Disappointed in the last two times I went into Bella under new ownership. First time, I had made an appointment with Hannah, was told yes, went in the next day for my appointment, and was told she no longer was there. The (I assume) new owner shoved me to another person to work on me. The second time I've now gone in, I got burnt with the drill that removes the polish, I told her it hurt a bit, she then looked at me and said she's now too scared to help me. They shoved my grandmother out as soon as possible. Then watching how they treated my mother. They didn't ask what level of pedi she would like, and at the end they tried to charge her for the highest level pedi, when she got the most basic... At the end of the appointment we had some built up "punch cards" and she ( the owner) refused to use it because they weren't all on one card. They are NO LONGER great as they were with scheduling appointments and keeping to them. Last little thing, to everyone who is looking for a great place to go, PLEASE read the newest reviews before making the choice to book or walk in.
