A few weeks back, my bridal party and I walked into Bella Bridesmaid without an appointment just to peek in and start mulling over choices on what might fit the varying body types of all my girls. Though there were other parties in with appointments, Cass worked with the manager to squeeze us in and we ended up finding the perfect dress! They did have to be rush ordered, but we were walked through the entire process and it was as hassle-free as it could have possibly been. In typical wedding-planning fashion, something will always go wrong and I had a bridesmaid pull out of my wedding party the day before we had to place the orders. I called the store frantic on trying to straighten everything out, cancel her order, and make sure the other girls orders could still be confirmed and once again, the girls at Bella's calmed me down and fixed everything for me within minutes. The entire staff is extremely helpful and passionate about what they do and they have a huge selection of dresses (seriously, there's something for everybody) at reasonable prices. Totally beats going to a normal bridal shop where service isn't always valued. WOW. What an incredible customer experience. I'm a bridesmaid [living in San Francisco] in a bridal party mostly based in the New York area, so trying on dresses collectively wasn't really an option. We were measured, but they literally covered the numbers because they thought we were going to take our numbers and order online. Which makes no sense, because the prices are the same. After we were fitted, we were not offered dresses in our size to try. I was told my top and bottom are 2 sizes apart, so we should just order the larger size, which sounds like a fitting nightmare. It would have been nice if I could have tried on dresses in both sizes, but then my size would have been revealed, which is their nightmare, I guess. We all went in planning to order our dresses through them, but then felt a bit off, and we all ended up ordering from dessy.com. Just a little more service, and they would have sold 8 more dresses that day. read more

DO NOT FALL FOR THESE OVERPRICED DRESSES!!!! I am one of 8 bridesmaids in a wedding this fall. We all went to the store and got measured and ordered our dresses. All 8 of us have each spent over $200 in alterations for these dresses. 4 girls are unable to wear them because extra fabric is needed and the extra from hemming is not enough. 3 girls received dressed that were 2-3 sizes too big. This is a complete disaster. Obsurd for the amount initially spent on the dress itself. DON'T GO HERE!!!! I REPEAT. DON'T BUY FROM BELLA BRIDESMAIDS!!!! you can find the same exact dresses for 1/4 of the price on amazon. No need to pay full price for these designers. I am a bride to be and was searching for bridesmaid dresses. I came across this store while cycling across the street. I decided to call and give it a go since my luck with David's was horrible. heidi was welcoming, warm and so knowledgable. She listened to what I wanted, spent time working with me on the dresses I was intrested in. heidi provided insight on the materials, designers, colors. I have bridesmaids in other states and she informed me of their other locations. I have a cousin who will be 8 1/2 months pregnant come time for my wedding and we worked together to find her a dress that will work not knowing what her size will be by then. With my cousin living in DC, Heidi was amazing in communicating with her, offering different options that would make her dress closest to the ones I had chosen. Heidi even put the dress on and allowed me to take a photo to send to my cousin so she could see what it looked like on. talk about going the extra mile! When going to order, she was there every step of the way. keeping me informed, telling me about arrival dates. She always responded to my emails within 24 hours which was fantastic. What an overall great experience for me during this stressful time. I wish I had just gone to her from the beginning. read more

I can't say enough awesome things about the Bella Bridesmaid in West Hartford. I'm a bridesmaid in an August wedding, and we purchased our dresses from this location. We were helped by Maddie, one of the owners, who was extremely attentive and wonderful. She listened to the bride's vision (or lack thereof, ha) and helped us select something that would fit perfectly with a southern charm themed wedding. You can tell she really loves what she does, and she's very good at it. This location has SO many trendy styles and brands that it was hard to narrow down the (minimally) twenty dresses we fell in love with. Unfortunately, the bridesmaids live all around the country, so it wasn't possible to have them come in and get measured. I literally thought it'd be impossible to get all nine girls to have their measurements taken, make sure they all got sent in, and have the dresses all ordered in time. Micromanaging that many girls is a nightmare. But, Maddie stayed on top of everyone (in a super nice way, of course) and took care of everything. She even let me neurotically call her (probably way too many times) to check up on the status of the order, the size of my dress, the color of the fabric, etc. The dresses came in with plenty of time to spare, and they are absolutely perfect! We can't wait to wear them in a few weeks. But, seriously, if you're anywhere near West Hartford and looking for bridesmaid dresses, I can't imagine a better place to shop. Not only are the dresses gorgeous here, but my experience was just so pleasant (I wish I could remember the owner's name!). I stopped in on a whim yesterday afternoon to see if they had a certain dress in stock before recommending that my bridesmaids try them on. One of the owners was in that day and even though I didn't have an appointment, she was more than welcoming in letting me browse, take a peek at their small bridal selection, and offered that I try anything on I liked. She was super personable and I won't hesitate to come back when it's time to select a dress for the bridal party. read more

They made an attempt at the beginning to help us but then left us half way through ... I would not recommend this place to anyone solely on the staff . Bella Bridesmaid in West Hartford has a very small selection of dresses despite what their website says. The woman working there today was extremely unhelpful and unfriendly. She didn't suggest anything and barely helped my bridesmaids while they tried dresses on. I was very disappointed, especially since my bridesmaids came from 2+ hours away. I wouldn't go back here. Went here for my sister's MOH dresses. We were a little nervous for our first apt as some unforeseen issues came up, causing us to be late. Heidi was super understanding and so helpful. She did not have the exact color in the style we wanted, but showed it to us in another dress, and the ordering process was super easy. The dresses arrived at the shop faster than expected, and when we went to pick them up she made sure to check if we needed anything, helped my sister try it on, and gave a list of places to go for alterations. I am a bridesmaid in an upcoming Spring 2018 wedding and several of the dresses ordered are at least 4 sizes too big. While the sales associates were nice, they led us in a complete wrong direction when it came to sizes. For context, I wear a women's size 6 and they encouraged me a size 14 dress would fit. They had no dress samples for us to try on so we all were forced to order blindly based on our "measurements". This is the first time I am a bridesmaid in a wedding and trusted the associate, though, when the dress arrived nearly 5 months later, it is absolutely huge. Others in the wedding party are also dealing with the same problem. Would advise future shoppers to trust their own instincts and not buy based on recommendations from the sales people. read more

I would say, as a bride, the experience was great. The store was cute, the girls were helpful and helped me stay within my intended budget for them and pick some beautiful dresses. I can't say the same for my girls. As soon as the papers were signed the experience was totally different. My girls were basically told they were not important enough to have an appointment on a Saturday (this goes for all Bella Franchises, not just WH) so they all wound up measuring themselves and almost all of them came back with too large dresses. It costs $20 to have your dress shipped to you, when we all know there is no way that's "at cost". I just felt like it was an expensive bait and switch pulled on me that wound up to the detriment of my girls, and I feel bad that they all wound up with expensive dresses that they STILL have to have alternations made to. read more

I do not agree with some of the negative post below. I had an amazing experience at Bella Bridesmaids in West Hartford. Heidi was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. As the bride, I was struggling with colors and styles. I had my MOH try on many styles and could not decide on the color. Heidi made suggestions, was able to order the color swatches and did not pressure us into buying a dress. I was in other weddings where I had to buy expensive dresses and felt a lot of pressure to make the Bride happy. The stores pressured us to make the decision while we were there and it often felt rushed. We didn't have that problem here. While you do need to order the dress with plenty of time to arrive before the wedding (this is basically standard), there was no pressure to buy from here. That is the type of environment I like to do my business with. The type that treats you like a person and not a number. I also would like to note I am having a small wedding party. Just my MOH and Heidi treated us the same as a huge wedding party. I was so impressed I ended up ordering a dress for my first dance as well. I decided to stop by the shop during their advertised hours as per their website however found the shop to be closed with a note next to the door stating that all visits are by appointment only during those open hours. I then emailed Heidi who responded very promptly about setting up an appointment time the same day. I then however was informed that there is a $20 fitting fee charge if you go to the store to try on a dress but the bride or bridal party is not directly working with the West Hartford Bella location, or another Bella location. Heidi also informed me they did not have the dress I was looking for even though the Bella website told me I could find the dress at that location. So just be forewarned, their advertised hours of operation are not accurate and by appointment only, so don't waste a trip driving there without coordinating with them first. If you don't plan to make a purchase with them that day it appears there is likely a charge (how crazy to charge someone $20 to try something on?!), and as other reviews have stated, the shop appears small, and obviously does not have the selection that the website reports it has. While my experience was premature of doing actual business with them, my preliminary dealings coupled with the other reviews I read have lead me to look elsewhere for this bridesmaid dress. read more

I came here last week for a bridesmaid dress for a wedding in June. I was expecting to get a little bit of a hard time because I am probably the worst customer - the bride is not registered here because the bridesmaids are spread out geographically so she told us we could use any local shop or website to order a Dessy dress. And I was running late and showed up late for my appointment. Heidi was great & the overall experience was excellent. I know that other places would not be so accommodating in my situation - such as not allowing you to take photos or write down dress styles or size so you could order it online at a better price. Heidi was so helpful and even offered to take pictures of me in the dresses so I could send them to the bride! Since I did not know which dress to order when I went in, she made me a copy of the style numbers for the ones that I liked. I was also surprised that the prices are basically the same as online. Another bridesmaid used weddingtonway.com and it was literally the same price but without the great customer service. Once we decided which dress to get it was very easy to put in the order online. She also directed me to a tailor if I need it altered. The store is very cute & cozy and in a great location, would be a fun place to go with a group. Highly recommend!! read more

If I could have given zero stars, I would have. My two daughters and I had an appointment to look for a maid of honor dress. We arrived 10 minutes early and were not even greeted as we walked in. Once the appointment started, Kristy our bridal consultant was very cold, and she barely asked any questions regarding my daughters wedding. The maid of honor tried to explain the type of dress including pictures of a dress that she wanted to try on, but Kristy was very disengaged in the whole conversation. She pulled four dresses out and had no interest in finding any other dresses for her. To make things worse, Kristy gave no assistance to my daughter while she was trying on the dresses. In fact, she walked away and talked to other people in the store. Then we would repeatedly have to ask her to help clip the dresses. Honestly after visiting multiple bridal shops, this was the worse experience ever !!! read more

Here's what to expect when you go to Bella Bridesmaids 1. It is by appointment only so call before you go. They respond really quickly and can sometimes do next or same day appointments 2.The space is not the biggest but will comfortable fit you and your guest while you try on dresses. 3.They simple provide dresses at a reasonable price.They are not a Kleinfelds and you are not in New York so don't go expecting a full service bridal store. Yes they will measure you and make sure you get the right size but for a truly great fit as with any bridesmaid dress take it to be tailored. 4. Like every store in the world not everything on the website is available to try on in store so call and ask if the designer and style # your looking for is available to try on or only for order. 5. The dresses are free shipping If you get them shipped to the store. I personally liked them and got beautiful dresses at a great price. Trust me when I say it is so annoying that you can find the same exact dress at different bridal shops for outrageously high prices so Bella's Bridesmaids was a great find. I also like having appointment only because it wasn't over crowded and the setting was more intimate so we joked and had a good time looking through the dresses. We went to a lot of the bigger stores and it was overcrowded and very tight because there were so many people and we had an appointment. It's so annoying to not be able to comfortably look for and try on dresses because there are too many people in a store. My friends and I made a recent trip to this boutique in search of dress ideas for an upcoming wedding we're in. We couldn't be more pleased with the wonderful experience that we were provided with. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warmth, and the owner, Heidi, was extremely attentive to our needs, answering every question we had, and providing a multitude of style suggestions. As true of most bridal parties, all of the girls range in height, and dress size, which caused us some apprehension going into the experience-- we weren't sure if we'd be able to find a beautiful dress that was flattering on different body types. However, the selection at this shop was incredible-- there were so many different designers offered, and plenty of size ranges, and tailored to every budget which was particularly helpful, as well. I originally went to a different Bella in Orlando, FL with my sister to shop for the perfect bridesmaid dress. The service at the first Bella was amazing. Once I was back in Massachusetts, I began looking for the closest Bella which wound up being the one in CT. Not only did the sales consultant respond quickly via email, but she also quickly schedule me in for a fitting. The parking was easy to find on the side street before reaching the boutique. I tried my Donna Morgan dress, the one my sister had picked out for us bridesmaids. When I was getting fitted I mentioned how great the dress (Donna Morgan, Stephanie) would be if it had straps. The Stephanie is beautiful, but I'm more a "feel secure with straps girl". The young lady helping me quickly brought out a similar Donna Morgan dress with straps ( the Baileys, amethyst). when we went to the first Bella's we must have missed this one style. I wound up loving it and once I showed it to my sister (very hesitant because the bride does get the last say), she was sold too! My sister, 2nd bridesmaid and I agreed that was"THE DRESS" . I absolutely love my dress! I'm so thankful for the wonderful customer service I received! She responded quickly, scheduled me in, and made us bridesmaids happy! read more

My friend (the bride) made an appointment for us at 2. We show up at 1:50, they tell us the room's still occupied. Great, fine, we start looking around the room. They have different types of dresses from the designer my friend wants, but not the color. I'm thinking, shouldn't they have one dress of every color? Obviously they can't supply one of every option, but one of every color should probably be required. We ask, and they just show us a tiny swath of the color she wants. But my friend is fine with that and gives the okay. At this point it's maybe..2:30? I whisper to my friend kind of snarkily what's taking the girls in the reserved dressing room so long. One of the employees must have heard me because she went in there and told the girls to start wrapping up. I'm thinking, you didn't tell them this earlier? The first time you tell them to hurry up is when they're half an hour past their time? But I don't want to make a big deal of it because my friend still seems in a good mood and making the most of it. At this point we just started trying on dresses in the browsing area (there's a tiny curtained off area where one person can go in). We're just trying on dresses, making our decisions amongst other browsing customers. WE NEVER GET THE ROOM. Again, to be fair, I didn't complain because I didn't want to upset the bride. But that is unacceptable. The group before us was just sitting in there in their normal clothes chatting, not even trying anything on, and the employees didn't ask them to move. We ended up buying the dresses, because the bride wanted us to, but if it was up to me I would have never patronized this store. I've never written a yelp review before but felt compelled to here because the service was so unacceptable. Would not recommend to anyone. read more
