Instruments, books, records, lessons, rentals. How can you go wrong with a music store like that?…read more Music Makers is mostly known for their lessons. They offer lessons with pretty much every instrument, minus the harp. Yes, this means that you can take a lesson in drums, guitar, piano, flute, bass, keyboard, sax, clarinet, violin, and even the banjo and mandolin. Where else can you find a lesson on the banjo, besides the internet? This is probably one of the best music stores in the city. The workers, teachers and clientele are always extremely nice and very personable people. I never feel funny when I go in here, even if it's just to buy a gift for someone. They even let you rent out their own instruments so you can practice at home. The lessons are very thorough and range from novice to expert. So, whether you're looking to learn an instrument, or just pick up where you left off, Music Makers can help you accomplish your musical goals... and you'll have a little fun doing it!

They are the most dedicated, caring, supportive, understanding and encouraging teachers in my history of training. They have expected the highest of standard from me and upheld me to this level on a daily basis. The teachers have individualistic expectations for each student, varying on the personal level, needs and growth of the student. The staff has high expectations for us as a class and will accept nothing else but the absolute best from each individual. Not only has the staff pushed me on an artistic level but as well as on a personal level. The teachers are always there to assist me with any personal issues I may be having, even if it unrelated to the ballet studio. I see them not only as my teacher but also as my mentors, guiding me through my journey. These teaches have been my biggest assets for the past two years and have had such an incredible influence on me. They have taught me about work ethic, self motivation, expectations and self-improvement. They have never put any limits on any student and see the potential in each and every individual. The environment created is very friendly, and low stress where all students from all classes interact positively with one another. The class sizes are very small ranging from about three to ten individuals per a class. The staff puts their best foot forward daily and expects the same from us as their students. I couldn't be any happier with my experience at the H/W School of Ballet and recommend this ballet school for dancers of all ages and levels.

She would play samples of a few things by ear during our consultation and somehow had sheet music for a lot of obscure things I thought for sure we'd have to track down. I wouldn't have thought a musician would be a highlight of the day and I certainly hadn't budgeted for live music at the ceremony. If someone hadn't told me how distracting ipod music changes could be, I probably would have gone that route and then been really sad listening to my wedding video. Jan's husband is a marriage commisioner and because of that she knows all the cues in the ceremony he officiated for us and the music transitions were better than one could imagine. The aliveness of the harp vs recorded music was so much more beautiful and it made me much more emotional walking down the aisle than anything I could have pumped out on the speakers. She learned a few pieces for us too which made things extra special. My husband entered to star wars on the harp... yup. She also played some alice in wonderland songs for our themed wedding which was just perfect. I certainly would recommend Jan if you're looking for a harpest or if you are looking for an eleigant way to bring music to a wedding ceremony. She also teaches and does other private events but I can't speak to that.
