I have shopped at Belk stores my entire life. Recently I had the most amazing service with Belk in Beaufort, SC. I live in another city, but it did not have the items I needed. I placed an order, but had difficulties with it and had to call the Beaufort store to find my order and ship it to me. The MOST amazing salesperson helped me and I shall NEVER forget her kindness and help. I have already received this most important order and it is on its way to our Daughter overseas. The Belk store in Beaufort needs much improvement! There are always very few checkout stations open, long lines, and customer service/assistance is seldom to be found. The racks are junky and disorganized, and so close together you can hardly get around! The two young girls in Cosmetics especially need to learn manners, to move the line along and be considerate of all. And not just waste time chatting with their friends! They are totally nonchalant and not at all concerned with helping the long lines waiting there- since most of the other registers are closed! With the new stores opening across the street, I will be truly amazed if this Belk stays in business! read more

This is a smaller store and doesn't have a large selection. However you can get the basics here. Belk used to have really good customer service but like other Brick & Mortar retailers,they have had to really scale bacj to remain competitive so that means less headcount on the floor. Still, all in all, this place ia a-ok. read more

It's a department store that loves to be Southern. There's a whole line of southern wear in the women's section that hoots and hollers its Southern-ness in various pastel-colored phrases and seaside patterns. There are great sales in the show section and lots of outerwear to choose from in both men's and women's. Casual and young to dressy business wear, they have lots. read more

First the smell of the place hit me - like a plane cabin after an 8-hr flight. Second, the desolation. Honestly, this place is like a large tomb. Then I realised that inventory was unusually low for a chain store of that kind (think Dillards - Lord & Taylor is a stretch). And finally... customer assistance. There is none. Oh yes maybe one in the whole store; 2 persons at a customer service counter where I waited for about 10 mins with a $5 pair of earrings while a customer unloaded a cartful of goods, and I was ignored by salesperson #2 while she folded clothes and tended to customers arriving AFTER me. I squeaked a mild complaint after this happened twice, but still no reaction from these charming ladies, just a pall of stillness and shock as the 5 people in the store stared at me in horror. I didn't understand why I wasn't being waited on or even getting an answer to my squeak "help me understand, do you not see me?" Lo and behold a "manager" arrives. Finally the salesperson looks up and yells 'no MA'AM I don't see you are you happy now?!' Manager says 'Ma'am if she says she didn't see you, then that's what happened". Enough said. I drop the earrings and walk out appalled at the rudeness and stupidity of certain folk. I'm sure there are better run BELKS than this, but now when I drive past one I will say BLEGH and run for my life. read more

I love Belk, but this store is just a bit of a mess. The constant clearance racks are just too much of a chore to look through. The sizes are never in their place and merchandise that doesn't belong on the racks can be found on them often. No one likes surprises at check out. Service has always been very friendly and accommodating but does suffer from the slow country syndrome. You can definitely get some crazy deals here on quality merchandise. It's also nice to walk in at any time of year and see fashions still in vibrant colors. Up North, the chilly air brings in a dismal color palate consisting of brown, black and grey. Their coupon deals can be awfully confusing as well, with tons of exclusions that you seriously can't keep track of while shopping and trying to get bargains. Nevertheless, it at least stands out from the many department stores that all offer the same brands and merchandise. So that is a major plus. read more

Generally speaking the store is fine..a young woman in the women's clothing department made a long walk to get me a cart..But then...when I got home I realized I had paid for some pants I had no idea where they came from..Then I remembered I checked out in the shoe department..a pair of slacks I wanted did not have a price tag and the man reluctantly went to look ..came back with some pants...apparently he just grabbed something that looked like the ones I had. I should have checked to see he got the right they weren't even the same style..just a similar color. read more

The customer service has gone downhill in the past year or so. While the store itself looks great and the merchandise selection has improved, the associates are not friendly and I've overheard the manager make snide remarks about customers. read more

Marva was so very helpful, in finding the items from my granddaughter's bridal registry and looking in the store room when what i wanted was not available. She was patient, kind and offered support for the stressful shopping i do not like to do. I also got to observe her kindness that she extended to other customers.
