As a newcomer in Belfast, I can really say there is no equal. Before getting my first pack of 10 lessons (which are as cheap as can go considering it's an institution with facilities), I had tried about 6 private teachers and one other music school. All of them were lacking something, and here at the Academy is where I found it. All the teachers are incredibly welcoming, friendly and entertaining (especially Tom), not to mention that they do know their stuff. I'm taking Grade 7 Rockschool after a few months of self-teaching, and in one lesson only I learned how to read note values on a staff and play in time. You can really get a sense of belonging here, as you will certainly find that your tutor is a fan or follows many of the same artists as you do, meaning you can relate to them on both a social and musical level.
All in all, if you really enjoy music and playing your instrument, and have the drive to ask questions and make the most out of lessons, I guarantee 100% that this is the place for you. As far as contemporary music education goes (and even others), look no further.
