After driving three hours through a seemingly endless torrential downpour, my husband and I found respite at the Belamere Suites in Perrysburg, Ohio. The hotel of proclaimed "limitless romance" sits awkward and unassumingly on a back road between commercial businesses. The rooms are lined buildings like windowless townhouses, almost eerie until we found our room number and pulled into our personal garage. I had been waiting months for this visit because, as expected in the Midwest, hotel rooms with personal pools can be a hot commodity so I booked WAY in advance. For a price tag of over five hundred dollars, the Grand Royal Pool Suite gave us every amenity I could've imagined; soaking tub, two person shower, plush robes, electric fire place, soft king bed, sauna and what we really drove all that way there for, our own personal, private swimming pool. My wife and I stayed at Belamere Suites for our 17th wedding anniversary, and unfortunately, it was a major disappointment from the moment we arrived. The hotel is tucked away in the middle of an industrial park surrounded by semi trucks, which immediately ruined any romantic atmosphere we were hoping for. To make things even stranger, there were pieces of childlike artwork oddly placed on the outside of the buildings--nothing about it felt romantic or inviting. Inside the room, things didn't improve much. While it was clean, the rose petals placed on the bed were fake, which felt cheap and undermined the "luxury" experience they advertise. The fireplace clicked nonstop whenever we tried to use it, making it impossible to relax. The worst part of the stay was the noise. Our neighbor spent the entire evening screaming at a football game. I called the front desk to complain about the noise, and the only solution they offered was to "drive the golf cart around." The yelling stopped for about 30 minutes and then started right back up. At that point, any romantic vibe I was trying to create for our anniversary was completely gone. We were so aggravated--especially considering the extravagant price tag--that it was clear we weren't going to sleep or enjoy ourselves. We ultimately decided to leave at midnight and just go home. When I called to request some sort of reimbursement, I was offered 50% off a future stay. I honestly found that laughable--I wouldn't return even at $100 a night. This was a memorable anniversary for all the wrong reasons, and I cannot recommend Belamere Suites based on our experience. read more

I needed time to collect my thoughts, so this could be accurate and fair. We stayed in the highest level storage unit for two nights. First night was on the way to another destination, and second night was on our return trip home. If you've stayed there before, you "get" the "storage unit" comment. First night, we enter the reception area only to find an escapee from The School for Unprofessionals. For heaven's sake, dress appropriately! As she took screenshots of my husband's ID, she proceeded to read off the "rules." I've seen Miranda rights given in a better manner. Fast forward to our "luxurious" room and experience. As we pull into the garage, you notice that the iron and ironing board are there. Odd, right? You enter the suite, and the chlorine hits you like a brick wall. Hello instant headache! The desk clerk rattled off something about not leaving the dry sauna open or on because alarms would sound and they'd be forced to come over. Did I mention that the chlorine smell was a whopper? Next, climb the stairs to the bed & bath level. The "luxurious" bed/bath. A few uber cheap light fixtures don't make this luxurious. I suspect they picked these up at a NoTell Motel going out of business sale. The bathroom was large, but nothing special. One shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion for two adults isn't enough. On the return trip, I asked about bubble bath for the tub, and was pointed to s tray on the counter of the front desk that held about less than half an ounce of "aromatherapy" liquid. It's yours for $2. Really? Back to arrival. The bed had rose petals on it, and turns out they were polyester, and used multiple times. I began picking them up one by one to keep them neat. Should have just tossed them on the floor. There were two trays of chocolate covered strawberries on the glass table, but no water. You'd think they could have a couple of complimentary bottles of water, especially when paying their rates and the $60 for the strawberries. They did have a small fridge under the counter in the bathroom and the waters, sodas had a charge. Good thing I always have a case of water in the trunk. Can you say, "Nickel and diming?" The room was far too dark, and the two chairs at the glass table were unsteady. The fireplace is less than "roaring" and turns itself off if it gets too hot, and then beeps. Beep... beep... beep.... BEEP! TV turns on pretuned to The Playboy channel. Ummmm..... no thank you. The bed was comfortable, but it's so high that I had to jump onto it. They really need a small step stool. They could easily find a plastic one at a toy store. Put a sticker on it, and Voila! "Luxury." Ready for the creepy factor? No windows. Our return trip was on a Sunday night, so bright and early on Monday morning you have bulldozers, big trucks, and other heavy equipment outside. They sounded just inches away from your walls. Did I mention this "luxurious" getaway is smack in the middle of an industrial park? No, I'm NOT kidding! Most hotels have a 3pm check-in and noon check-out. If you'd like that, it's $25 extra for each. Their check-in is 4pm, which wasn't a factor for us, and check-out at 11am. We paid the $25 for 1pm. Finally....Breakfast! A small basket of 2 mushy and soggy MICROWAVED small Danish rolls and two muffins. 2 small bottles of Tropicana orange juice, and a carafe of coffee. Coffee was cold. I don't know WHO gave this place all the positive reviews, but they could have done better at the new Comfort Inn just around the corner outside of the Industrial Park. There's a GREAT Speedway Gas station with a small convenience store that has plenty of snacks, fun food, and a surprisingly nice selection of beers and wines. This place could have at least had a small desk, chair and lighting for those who need to put on a touch of makeup or take out contact lenses. Did I mention it was creepy? I told my husband that it felt like "West World" .... as if being watched, and the NO WINDOWS! Save your $$$, because this was a HUGE disappointment. My wife and I just stayed here and it was clean and the private pool was nice but there are several down sides. 1 they have no coffee makers in the room, no microwave either so you have to call the front desk every time you need coffee or something warmed up. 2. They have soda and water in the mini fridge that cost $1.50 each, for the price of the rooms this should be free. 3. The breakfast is kind of a joke they give you a coffee with a muffin and a cinnamon coffee cake from a box and for the cost of the room and what it's supposed to be the breakfast could be much more. There are no windows to speak of and I'm not sure thats complying with fire code, no towel bar or wash cloth hanging spot was kind of off also, they have a hook for the robes that you can use for the towels but I would out one in the shower because there is plenty of room. It was a nice experience and the personal heated pool was nice but for the price the fine details matter and I don't feel they met the bar that they set for themselves. Now I did point out that a transition strip was coming up and is a trip hazard, it also hurts when you hit your toe and they have a roof leak and they were nice enough to remove one of the items I got as and add on but it doesn't make up for everything. read more

It's so rare to go into a swimming pool that is warm nowadays. The lady at the front desk told me it was 92° and I told her well 93 is perfect but I'll take it!! The sauna was awesome. The rooms were clean. The jetted Jacuzzi tub was awesome. They give you more than enough towels. The shower could fit 10 people. We just had one of the best times of our lives!! if you look it up online it's considered one of the most romantic hotels in the United States. This is the place you go when you want to just get away and have an intimate getaway. There's different packages that come with different amenities so choose what works best for you. The staff is responsive, respectful, and understanding. The full body massage I got was great, professional, and you can undress to your comfort level. The room has a mini fridge, jacuzzi tub, double shower, fireplace, with a sauna and pool just outside the room but still inside. There's a tv located by the bed and next to the jacuzzi. The audio system is Bluetooth enabled for your personal music and the sauna and pool have leds that can change colors. The only drawback is that there's no microwave to warm up food or other things, you'll have to call the front desk to have them do it for you. If you're in Ohio and want to have your own little getaway, definitely give them a call, it's worth the price. This hotel... no, they are luxury suites! After we entered the bedroom from the emoted garage, we saw welcome note and wine list. The room was very clean and spacious. Layout like a studio with interior decor upgrades to a suite with high ceiling. Although there's no window to outside, the inside space is wide and with refrigerator, medium size tv, king size bed, large jacuzzi for two people and humongous shower area, great for couples who want to spend some quality time indoor. Note: Great for couples who looking for celebrating anniversary! They bring continental breakfast to your room. And the location of this hotel suites are very private. We stayed here for a birthday and anniversary. I had been wanting to stay at Belamere for over a year based on its high ratings and the amenities. We booked the Grand Royal Swimming Pool suite for 3 nights. I was disappointed overall property as well as the kitschy nickel and dimming as well. 1st the location is odd, it's tucked away in a manufacturing/trucking area right off the freeway...however right down the street is a great outdoor shopping center and good restaurants, so not a total negative. The room itself: Pros- unique! First hotel I have ever stayed in with a private pool. The connectivity and surround sound was a nice option to play music in the pool area. Cons- There are ZERO windows, none, it's weird. We woke up and had no idea what time of day it was...I understand the need for privacy but this seemed extreme. There's no microwave...kitchen space. The mini fridge is in the bathroom area. While the staff offered to 'warm up' anything we needed...I would have much rather had one in the room, as well as a separate sink. The pool was a little cool for us, but that's just a personal preference. The staff had to come in daily to 'service the pool'. While I understand the need to check it, it was an annoyance to have to schedule time for someone to come in. Amenities: Pros- the lake is a nice touch (albeit in view of the freeway but it is nice). The scavenger hunt of 'love sayings' was merely a weird walk around the grounds to find hobby lobby signs, followed by a return to the front desk for a coupon and an option to purchase one of their MANY add ons. The coffee was terrible...we ended up leaving every morning for breakfast. In summary, it does the job if you are looking to completely disconnect from reality. It's a unique experience to have once, but we likely will not return. read more

This is our second time here. Good place to get a way and relax. Clean establishment. For the price it does need some minor repairs. The room we had 109 had some issues. Couldn't get in the door from the garage because of a door issue. They came and showed us how to open it. The shower knobs are backwards (cold is hot and hot is cold), they came a second time to show us. The fireplace did not work but had an ignite flame but unable to use. I wasn't gonna call them for that. The pool is set at a warm temperature which was perfect. The shower and tub were clean and beds are clean. Love the staff they are super friendly. I wish that the establishment would go through each unit and fix some tile repairs and at least put a tv on the wall in the pool area. For the money it is somewhat worth it but then again depends on the room you get it is not. read more

We came here for our anniversary and everything was perfect. I had no idea where my husband was taking me and Belamere Suites was better than I could have hoped for. Our stay was fantastic. Walking into our suite and seeing a pool was so unexpected! We went up to our room and it was beautiful- candles lit, rose petals on the bed. We took advantage of everything the suite had to offer - we swam until we wrinkled up like prunes, we hung out in the sauna, relaxed in the hot tub, showered in the gigantic double shower, enjoyed the fireplace from the most comfortable bed I've ever been in... My partner surprised me with a night at Belamere several months ago, and we still talk about it all the time. Each suite comes with a private garage so it all feels very secure and relaxing. We stayed in a Presidential Suite, which is one step up from their most basic suite. It was NUTS. We had our own private swimming pool with color changing LEDs and a great sound system, plus a two person jacuzzi tub and walk-in shower. AND A FIREPLACE. Everything was spotless and beautifully decorated. We ordered milk and cookies at 2am and they were delivered fast, fresh out of the oven. My ONLY complaint is that the controls for the fireplace weren't very apparent (we could only turn it on or off, we couldn't figure out how to turn it down), so we could only use it for a short time before the room became unbearably hot. Staying here made me feel like a straight up princess, and every single employee we interacted with was super polite and happy to help us, even at 2am. They do have a rewards program, but if you can afford to stay there often enough to earn the points before they expire, you probably don't need it anyway. read more

We stayed here two years ago and decided to pay the exorbitant holiday fee to stay on Valentine's Day weekend this year. "Stay" isn't the right wording, since we weren't able to stay longer than a few hours. The temperature of the pool room was the same as the bedroom - a balmy 96 degrees! There was a note on the bedroom air conditioner stating that we couldn't use the air because of the cold temperatures outside. No solution was given. When we asked staff what our options were, we were told "you can check out". Upon check in, the staff kindly gave us some Hershey Kisses - they melted just sitting on the table in the bedroom! I attempted to contact a manager for 10 days with no response. I guess I'm the sucker that paid over $500 for a quick dip in a barely-maintainted pool. We won't return. Update - I was finally contacted by management - was given a gift certificate for half of what I paid for the room. Surprise, the gift card is only redeemable until August and...you guessed it - they are completely booked until then. What a shady place!! read more

Where else can you get a suite complete with your own private pool? When your husband works long hours on a rotating shift in Toledo sometimes you need to be creative. At Belamere they will work around your hours and provide you with a lovely place to stay no matter what your schedule is. When our room was not ready on time for our check in, they gave us a fifty dollar gift card to a local restaurant to enjoy ourselves while they finished up. That is service. We returned full and happy to a beautiful room. All rooms have a large walk in two headed shower, a two person jacuzzi tub, a fireplace, a revolving flat screen TV complete with DVD and satellite and king sized bed with soft high thread count bedding. Each room has its own private garage with door opener too. Our room featured a seperate indoor room on the other side of a sliding glass door with a 18'X11' pool which is about 4 1/2 feet deep. The room was super clean, very comfortable too. They have staff on service for you 24 hours a day, they will bring you pizza, snacks, cookies or even pick up leftovers and bring them back perfectly reheated. Anything you may need, they have and they will make sure it is brought promptly. The only minuses for me was the pool suite is warm but turning the air way down solved that problem nicely. The breakfast was also not at all diabetic friendly, nor is there any option to make it so. They send you two giant muffins and two pastries, all warm in a basket with orange juice, tastyish but I can't eat any of it. James enjoyed it though. The big pots of coffee and tea were very appreciated by me. Handy if you are in the area or need a short little romantic type getaway. read more

We had the whirlpool suite and it was beautiful. I paid for six candles and they were placed in perfect spots and lit before we arrived even though i forgot to call and let them know we were close. The whirlpool jacuzzi was very large and bigger then any one i have seen in a hotel. Plenty of room for two people. There was also a beautiful 2 person 2 head shower. There is a personal garage attached to the suite. There are no windows. The garage and suite are smoke free so you have to step outside to smoke. Customer service was really nice and anything you need u can call them for, they are available 24 hours. Only thing free is ice coffee and tea lol and they have to bring it to you. We went during the week so there wasn't a wait for anything to bring me anything like some mentioned in their reviews. Bed was comfortable, room was clean no issues. Tv over fireplace swivels so you can watch it in bed or in the whirlpool. Tv had basic direct tv channels and some movie channels. Playboy channel was on a input channel but it was kind of blurry. They have a mini fridge and the pop and water in it was extra. They don't have microwaves in room but they come and pick up and deliver if you need something warmed up. I paid for a dozen cookies and milk but i probably wouldn't again they were a little over done. Breakfast is just muffins/danishes and orange juice that's included. I would go to breakfast after checking out. My advice is bring your own wine, water and whatever else you need that you don't wanna pay overprice for. We ordered food from a restaurant on the Main Street and then for a late night snack we ordered from door dash. There are only glasses and a wine opener in the room. No plates or silverware or anything. There was a small blow dryer. read more

I first heard about Belamere Suites from a pizza delivery guy in Hilton Head. Bizarre but true. I'm from Cleveland and my wife is from Toledo. We got married in Toledo and stayed for our wedding night. It's in a quiet area. You'd never know it was there. We got the Ultimate Jacuzzi Suite with a few add-ons, such as lit candles. I called just before leaving the venue and the candles were lit when we arrived. The room was absolutely luxurious. The worry with luxury purchases is that they're good sales pitches but overpriced. I needn't have worried; Belamere Suites exceeded my expectations. The jacuzzi was huge. We had a ton of towels. The fireplace was great and in an open area such that three sides of the fireplace face parts of the room. The walk-in shower was spacious and had a lot of nozzles for water. The garage was convenient and easy to use. Our breakfast was delivered promptly upon calling for it. We couldn't have been more thrilled with our experience. read more

We stayed in the Grand Royal Suite which includes the pool. The place was very clean and beautifully decorated. The pool was clean and the perfect temperature. I would recommend bringing your own stereo. The Bluetooth on ours wouldn't connect, nor would the USB. The front desk gave us an aux cord to try but it made it so the lyrics of songs really quiet. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. Pretty sure the $15 pizza was Digornio but it's better than nothing in the middle of the night. There are some nice restaurants, stores, and a movie theater right across the street. The only food offered by their room service is pizza, cookies, and other snacks. Wine glasses and a corkscrew/bottle opener are provided. Overall we had a wonderful and relaxing stay. We will for sure be back. read more

I have a hard time believing Trip Advisor when they rate this place the most romantic place in the USA. First off, it's surrounded by industry (seem to be selling semi's) and there's a stretch of highway in the back that ruins any sense of peace from being outdoors. I thought that I had driven to the wrong location at first because of where they're located. Then for the price, I have a few gripes: 1) No microwave in the rooms. Instead they say they'll come and pick stuff up and heat it for you and then bring it back. Not super convenient especially... 2)...since service was quite slow. We called for coffee, and it never came. We called for coffee again, and it took over 30 minutes to arrive. Cookies were supposed to be done in 30 minutes but we waited an hour and had to call the front desk to remind them. 3) Their packages make no sense. Cookies and milk are $15 but it's very clear the cookies are not baked from scratch and they just pop some cookie dough in the oven. They have a fiesta package which is just literally Tostitos salsa and queso and chips for $25. Why lol. Then for the price you're paying for the room, they can't throw in even one bathbomb or aromatherapy packet or something? 4) Masseuses were running behind and didn't do the full hour massage and weren't very good at what they do 5) European breakfast my ass. They just heat up Sam's Club or Costco danishes and muffins and throw in some Tropicana orange juice. The rooms were nice though and I enjoyed the jacuzzi, giant shower, fireplace, and comfy bed. This was my 2nd visit to Belamere, and it was just as amazing as the first visit. We had the biggest room, because it was my birthday and we had to do it BIG! I love the private pool, it is amazing and it is heated. I went swimming at least 4 times in one day. The Bluetooth sound system is a nice touch, it always you to be taken away by your favorite music while relaxing in the water. The customer service is always prompt and helpful. We ordered Door Dash because we weren't in the mood for pizza. The driver was easily able to find our suite, which was sweet! The Jacuzzi is huge, I dipped in that twice. It is a bit loud when trying to watch the tv directly across from it, but when you turn the jets off you should be fine. The bedroom fireplace works perfect. It will heat the room up in minutes. The walk-in shower was huge as well, it came equipped with two shower heads and a concrete floor. I cannot stress how awesome this place is. They can be a little costly so I'd suggest going through the week. But on both occasions my wife paid so it did not make me any difference. It is located near a nice shopping center with a comedy club, but we didn't dare leave our room. My only bone to pick was that we ordered chocolate chip cookies and milk and the hostess burnt our cookies. Since we aren't ones to complain we just rolled with the punches but unfortunately we couldn't enjoy all of our cookies. But all in all I highly recommend Belamere! read more
