Small quaint Lebanese restaurant. Super clean with quick and courteous service. The food was AHHmazing! We had the Labneh Bil Thoum, Batata Harra, Halloumi Kase, Baba Ghannousch, and Sambusil Bil Lahmeh. Also included was warm flatbread for the dipping. The flavors really popped with each dish and I would say you don't need to order a salad because there is plenty as a garnish (see photos below)! Tucked in a small alleyway, Beirut is really a restaurant that has to be visited if you have had your fair share of German food and need a culinary change. It had been quite some time since I had eaten at a Lebanese restaurant, so I was quite excited as I am a sucker for middle eastern food. Upon walking in, you may be confused as it seems to be a half deli/takeaway and half restaurant, so I'd suggest distancing yourself from the deli portion as traffic can be heavy at times. With that said, there is not a ton of space in this small joint, so I'd suggest calling ahead if you can or show up a tad early for dinner or lunch. So the grand portion of each review for restaurants, the food! Get ready to stare at a lengthy menu filled with mouth watering dishes, it took me quite some time to decide on a dish, but ended up ordering a lamb and okra dish as well as falafel. The lamb and okra was spectacular as was the falafels, well worth it and I'd order it again in a heartbeat! As for dessert, we ordered some Sch'aibiyyat to go, which was pretty good, but I should of went with some Baklava as it looks delicious. Service here was great, very attentive and willing to explain the menu in depth. Pricing will not break the bank as we walked out pay for two dishes and a dessert for the cost of one meal at many other nearby restaurants, so a great deal in my opinion. If I lived here, let's put it this way, I'd be making weekly to go orders a norm as this restaurant really hits the spot both budget wise and hunger needs. read more

For my main course I got the kebab which came with rice, and I just could not believe how big the portion was! We went without a reservation on Saturday night at 6h30pm and they went out of their way to get us a seat, we did end up sharing a table for 4 with 3 other people, but it was ok and cozy enough. We decided to order the menu (first page of the menu), which came with a LOT of starters (see pic), both hot and cold and all of them equally delicious. The main course was a plate with lamb and chicken, way too much after the starters but at an excellent temperature and the meat was very tender. We took the dessert to go as we were really full. At the end of the meal we were offered a nice tea. During our meal they came and checked several times on us but never in an annoying way. No credit cards or european bank cards so take your cash with you! Would recommend this to anyone craving Lebanese food! If I had a choice, I'd be going to dinner here tonight. A couple points about this place: It's pretty tight in there - but they are able to accommodate a large number of people. Definitely reserve before you go. The service here is pretty friendly and they are constantly coming around to check on you. What I particularly love about this place (and Arabic food in general) is that you have some really healthy items on the menu that are also incredibly delicious (and affordable). I am surprised I needed to come all the way to Germany to taste good lebanese food when I live in the middle east. The appetizers are great, and would recommend having more or them than the actual main dish. That's because the main dishes can be a little too fat, and that hides the taste of the meat. You'll be treated to oversized servings of amazingly tasty food at a reasonable pocket friendly price. $5euro gets you a massive doner kebab wrapped in a "pita", stuffed with flavorful fillings. 4.5 euro gets you a falafel filled pita. And buy a dessert or two - for 1 Euro, you deserve this treat! We were not permitted to sit inside with sandwiches - (I don't know why- but signs stated this as well). Have been coming here for years (Don't even use the menu any more, they guess what we want!) and have seen it change from a quiet, more or less locals only, place to a major draw. Fortunately, the food remains wonderful. Would go for the meze plate but, even if I starved for a week, I would not be able to eat all the dishes. Tried it once and decided that just the salad (which comes like a bouquet) would be enough. The houmous is fresh and flavouful. The chicken kebabs are tender with a slight charcoal taste. The Lebanese wine is great (and significantly cheaper than in other restaurants). When I leave Germany I would actually miss this place! Gets really busy at weekend. read more

Phenomenal meal in Köln with friends. We are familiar with Lebanese food (just not so good with our German) and the server brought out falafel, baba ganoush, tabbouleh, hommus to start then recommended various meat/veg main courses. Sadly, was sick of German food and were looking for alternative. After seeing doner and various other middle eastern restaurants throughout Germany, we decided to give it a try. Based on location, Yelp reviews pointed us here and it did not steer us wrong. So tasty! We had #82 and #85 and we way past full it was so good. Would go back if had more time in koln.
