As wandeering Californians, relying on Frommer's "Sydney Free & Dirt Cheap", we were uncertain of what we would find on a rainy Monday, but tired and hungary for something more elegant and interesting than the other places we have yet encountered, we decided to give Bei Amici a try. The oranic and fresh, very afforable $33 three course Monday fixed prix meal was the draw. The extemely friendly and authentic staff fit us in on a fully booked night, and the reward was extremely memorable, for the freshness and inventive style, combined with vibrantly delicious morsels. An opening course, three really, consisted of fabuous light fish bites in a salad, a taste of elegant and yummy quail stratiatella soup and a perfect little bite of buffolo mozzzerella with other delicious favors blened in. The main course was gnoccchi, with a bit of veal that was lighter than gnocchi has a rigtht to be, topped off with a stunning piece of chocolate cate, balanced with a taste of little oranges.
All in all, a great experience and worth the short and easy ride on the underground to find it. And the feel and visual appeal of the restaurant was perfect, open and very welcoming.
