I don't like leaving bad reviews for anything. But I also do not want anyone else to have to go through this during difficult times in their lives.
I started seeing Ronnie Evans because of some very dark issues going on in life. I used my Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through my insurance that I had at the time. Which gave me 4 free visits with an authorization code. Now, at the time I was switching insurances. But I had called my insurance AND spoke to Ronnie, the psych I was about to see, and both had confirmed with me that I was still ok and would still be covered for the rest of the year with my 4 visits. Everything went ok. He listened and gave me some coping skills to keep in mind that I never had thought of before, over the visits that we had.
However, with some of the things I spoke about, all he kept saying was that the way people treated me was "bull****". Not sure how that was supposed to help. That's all he kept repeating. I didn't go there to just be told what everyone else tells me, I was looking for some kind of different way of thinking or advice. Not that it was "BS". That's what everyone already says...
"The way they treated you is BS....ok that's all. See you next visit!"
Like, what?
I figured I learned a little bit anyways and it was sort of nice. So, after the visits I moved on and life was looking brighter after some habit changes and after seeing Ronnie.
Then, one month later, Ronnie texts me and tells me that my claims were denied for the coverage of my 4 free visits, even though he AND my insurance told me I was covered after I had made sure they double checked.
I asked him about what had happened and all he said was that his office manager would email me. In the email from his office manager, I was told by Ana Almodovar that my dates of service were not reimbursed by my EAP. If this was going to happen, why did everyone tell me repeatedly that I was covered? She said I had spoken to Ronnie and an agreement had been set, I never agreed to anything. I had told Ronnie in a text message that I could get him the money (eventually) but that I also would see what I could do and that I would call my insurance because it didn't make sense to me, that it was not covered. He texted back, "my office manager will email you."
So, I was like ok cool.
I emailed Ana back and explained the situation and that I even had the texts of Ronnie telling me about the option to continue with 60$ sessions AFTER the free visits from the EAP if I wanted to continue them, to which I had said no thank you. I was satisfied and can't afford to pay for any, hence why I took the free EAP visits. It was also my first time reaching out for help.
The reply I had received from the office was this:
"I usually get paid for my services. My clients feel that it was worth seeing me and I gave them valuable information. It seems that is not the case with you. Clients that don't pay for services just make it difficult for everybody."
So, it seems that Ronnie had replied, not his office manager. Then he assumed that I was not satisfied with him, when I did appreciate what he did for me. I never said that I did not think he gave me valuable information. But ok. Seems like he was passive aggressive as well. Why is someone who is supposed to help people being immature? I will not be going back there, and this just makes me not want to go to anyone in the future after this experience.
"Clients that don't pay for services just make it difficult for everybody."
He could have told me in the beginning before we had the visits, "Let me do some research to make sure that you will still be covered." Rather than just saying, "You are all set."
Just what I wanted to add these on the end of this review:
#1. Don't tell your clients that they are covered if they aren't going to be, and you haven't done enough research to make sure your word is true and backed up.
#2. I am not trying to or tried to make it difficult, I am literally coming to a mental health place to better myself and get help and am trying to figure out what happened because I cannot afford services. That is literally why I opted in for the EAP.
#3. Another thing I thought was weird. I had called Ronnie's phone on a day I was having a rough time, in between my visits. He said he was busy, and he would speak to me the next visit. I understood and said OK. So, the next visit I had mentioned how I was feeling "when I had called before." And he said I never called and couldn't recall getting one from me. I wanted to show him that I legit have the proof that I did call in my phone, but I did not want to argue. I asked him twice, he didn't remember at all or know what I was talking about. I figured if I keep pestering it would seem immature. I just was confused about his memory recollection if he's supposed to be the professional.
