I would give this practice zero stars if I could…read more My daughter is a patient at Sunset Neurological & Psychiatry Group and was experiencing a reaction to her medication. So much so that she could not drive herself home from school. I picked her up and told her she needed to let her doctor know ASAP. My daugther called and was told someone would call her back. When they finally did, instead of showing concern about my daughter's reaction, the conversation quickly became about demanding payment. As a former OB/GYN nurse, I have personally worked in many medical practice where patients called with concerns about adverse reactions to medications. We would never make a patient feel like they had to pay simply to have their provider address a medication reaction. I understand that medical practices have fees and policies, but there is a huge difference between having a billing policy and treating a concerned parent like an inconvenience. The worst part, however, was Christina Alfaro, NP. Her attitude was rude, dismissive, condescending, and completely lacking in compassion. At one point, she actually told me: "The problem here is that you and your daughter do not communicate." Excuse me? My daughter was experiencing a reaction to medication, and THAT was the response I received from her healthcare provider? That statement was completely unnecessary and incredibly unprofessional. If you work in healthcare, you should know how to communicate with patients and their families without talking down to them or blaming them. And yes, I did call Ms. Alfaro an asshole. I was angry and frustrated after being spoken to in such a disrespectful and condescending manner. I shouldn't have used those words, but I also shouldn't have had to defend myself as a parent simply for advocating for my daughter. Bedside manner matters. Compassion matters. Communication matters. Being a healthcare provider is not just about writing prescriptions and collecting payment. Patients are human beings, and when they're experiencing a medication reaction, they deserve to be treated with concern and respect. Unfortunately, that is not the experience we had here. I would never recommend Christina Alfaro, NP, and I would not recommend this practice. There are far too many healthcare providers who understand that patients deserve both competent medical care and basic human decency.

5 Stars ALL THE WAY!!! My son has been at 140th Avenue KinderCare for 4 years now, since the age of…read more18 month & my daughter since she was 3 months old. We had shopped around different daycares considering I was so skeptical to leave my babies at a daycare and get back to work. But from the director of this center to the teachers they all assured me my babies would be very well taken care of and it allowed me to get back to work without being worried. Throughout the years I learned that most daycare centers leave a lot to be desired & I would do no justice if i don't say a THANK YOU to Ms. Diane Uria, Ms. Diana Nugent, Ms. Hanka, Ms. Isabel, Ms. Katia, Ms. Odalys, Ms. Yuly, Ms. Claudia, Ms. Nikauly, Ms. Patsy, Ms. Flor and few others. So for anyone looking around where to leave your babies & have peace of mind look no further. 140th Avenue KinderCare is an awesome center & here's why: 1. Teachers & Staff are all excellent: They have patience & take the time to get to know each child and actually sit on the ground with them for a good portion of the day to play with, sing or read to them. Their curriculum is varied, they spend plenty of time doing creative activities & also academic subjects such as writing, language skills and math are very prominent, which makes me feel great because it's not a 'playschool'. All care areas are large with the changing, play and sleeping areas all in one area, so no child is left unattended or unmonitored as you often see at other care centers. 2. Socialization aspects of a large center: They are able to do things like let 20 plus toddlers run around together on the playground at one time. This allows the children to play with kids who are not a part of their class and to practice making new friends which also helps with the transition process for the kids. 3. Food & Nutrition: The facility serves nut-free foods and willingly stores whatever you bring in to substitute foods. An example of meals & snacks are broccoli, fruit, corn, muffins, apple, graham crackers & a variety of healthy meals. 4. Price: Reasonable Prices!!! Don't freak out America we all know in life you get what you pay for. However, they have a lot of ways of accommodating you as far as fees go. So, Take a tour, its FREE!!! You won't be disappointed. One great benefit is they often have a Groupon for new members...another great benefit as well is if you refer someone you both get a $200 credit. So feel free to use my name "Anain" if you decide to go there I could use the credit....LOL In the end, we all know it takes a village to raise children & my kids have grown and developed tremendously during their time at KinderCare. I know each child develops at their own pace and it is hard to compare one experience to another. But, thanks to the supportive, caring and nurturing environment, combined with a curriculum that has allowed our children to flourish. We cannot praise the staff at KinderCare enough. We give credit to KinderCare for an excellent place for a child to grow!!!
