They have great monthly events there, like Pub Night, and their English Country Dances with local band Take A Dance. But it's also an amazing location to rent for personal use (weddings, birthday parties, and more!) The space is big and open, with handicap accessibility around the back side of the building. There is ample parking outside and now an electric car charging station. The playground equipment out back is a welcome addition too. Indoors, there is a great dance hall that has a nice stage with drapery and pretty good acoustics; Caspar boasts a separate dining hall and a huge, gorgeous kitchen... my favorite part is the bank of gorgeous windows overlooking the meadow outside. It's the perfect spot for placing your sweetheart table during a wedding dinner... or even for having your wedding reception in! (A wedding I was at this spring used that set up and it was fabulous!) The one thing about Caspar is that it books up fast and well in advance. So make sure you contact the office and book early if you want to use this lovely space!

Opening in 1999, the Arcata Community Center is an intricate part of the town in which it is named after. I have attended numerous functions over the years here, seed swaps, basketball games, awards dinners, live music performances, volunteer commitee meetings and holiday craft fairs. This building offers a multitude of options to the community at large for hosting events both large and small. This most recent visit was for an annual awards dinner with over 300 in attendance that was held in the great hall and with all those participants it was surprisingly not overcrowded. The facility is clean bright and very well maintained. There is a huge parking lot that fills around three sides of the building as well, so there is ample parking for literally any size event. The ACC provides a great location with very nice facilities for hosting any event large or small and is available for rental through the Arcata Parks and Recreation Department. 4 Stars a nice venue in a convenient location. 00673

Some of the regulars are a little sketchy and the staff doesn't seem too concerned even though it could be a safety issue considering the location. There's a lot of transient traffic. Worst of all are the instructors. They must be the worst paid fitness staff in town and their skills and attitude reflect that. There's one lady in particular who completely runs your workout with her extremely loud, obnoxious directions. She's clearly trying to desperately hold off her own aging procees and it isn't working. Her routines are right out of the 80s aerobics craze. She's got crazy red hair, but you'll be able to figure out who she is right away. Stay clear!

I have driven by it a thousand times and it's unassuming presence blends into the passing landscape easily. This tree covered oasis is definitely worth looking into if you're in need of a large venue space with a full industrial kitchen, a full raised stage area, exceptional sound proofing for the large main event room with secured outer space, and a private parking lot. There are two side entrances as well, allowing kitchen activities and personnel to move in and out without affecting the main event room. The same applies to the other side entrance by the stage area. This is a really nice event and venue space definitely worth consideration. 4 Stars would most definitely consider this spot for its convenience to the college and downtown Arcata. 00624

It's a sober all ages space that has zines, local art and jewelry, t shirts, and more. You can reach out to them to get booked if you're part of a small band! I truly wish I took more pictures of this place, you can find more on Google Maps, they're usually only open limited hours Friday and Saturday? Except for shows which can be on any night of the week and are usually pretty affordable sliding scale.
