It hadn't been painted in many years and was in need of a lot of prep work. The job was complicated by its remote location in the mountains down a 7-mile-long gravel road, it being off the grid, and my needing to manage the job from my home in Oregon 8 hours away. Needless to say, we were having trouble finding a high-quality painting contractor willing to take on the job. Then I found Ken Bailey. We discussed the job over the phone, I provided him with photos and dimensions, and he gave a verbal quote. With my encouragement, he took the time to visit the cabin in person to fine-tune his bid. I wanted to make sure that he knew what he was getting into. I checked his references and they were great, so we selected him. He was able to start the job not long thereafter, and it was an absolute pleasure working with him. He provided multiple options for the paint job to meet our specific needs and budget and provided recommendations given our unique circumstances (the lower half of the cabin is buried under the snowpack every winter). He helped us to match the existing paint color, texting me photos of colors and express mailing me swatches of the final color samples. He did a great job prepping and painting the cabin, and he sent me daily photos and regular videos of progress, and texted or called regarding any questions that came up. His communication was excellent throughout the project. The original wood cabin windows are in poor condition, but he came up with multiple solutions for appropriate coatings for them and talked me through the pros and cons of the various options to help me make a good decision for the best solution to help preserve their historic look while protecting them from the harsh mountain weather. He was even willing to paint a few extras (outdoor furniture and the like). At the project completion, he sent me detailed videos for my approval. I would hire him again without hesitation.

My wife and I chose a color and Eric brought a sample pained on cardboard and painted a swatch on the house as well. The color we chose ended up being a shade too bright and we called to go down one shade. No fuss no muss Eric started the process over. Now my wife has been ill so she chose a bright cheery color that reminded her of our cruise to the Caribbean. Why does this matter? Funny thing is that when he started one of my neighbors stopped and asked if he had any influence in our color choice. Job done nlm Anyhow Eric spend 2 days power washing scraping and sanding. He gave us a roll of tape and asked us to mark any spots we thought needed attention, there were none. Eric has followed up twice now and is adamant he stands behind his work. They sent out Radcliffe painting to reinstall the trim and make a new ceiling panel for the opening. Sam, the owner came out. I am so impressed with his work. I asked to have the panel painted with semi-gloss this time to avoid fingerprints. He suggest painting the surface of the trim in semi, and the bottom in flat to match the existing ceiling.
