Because BeerRiff was good enough to merit a return visit I did just that, visiting twice within a few days time.
It wasn't only that it was a short walk from where I was staying in the Maritime Harbor but rather, where it was situated in general. To get to BeerRiff one walks out amongst the boats and from both indoor (second floor) and outdoor (picnic table) seating one can spot the water and try in vain to figure out just what sort of problem the setup one sees endeavors to solve*.
Though BeerRiff is a brewery that produces their own brands (very good) I appreciated that they also served up wine to those who prefer it. Inside, on the second floor with water views, they were kind enough to keep the music level down. And outside, from those picnic tables, Beeriff provided the most perfect place in all of Swansea from which to enjoy an afternoon.
BeerRiff and Mumbles' Pilot Inn are both under the same ownership. Both are good but BeerRiff - with its cool setting - is unique, providing a perfect excuse to hang out on the harbor.
* Swansea has one of the biggest tides in the world. In a single day the tide may recede as much as a mile. Boats in the sea stand on tripods so they won't be upended when they find themselves on sand alone. And without the contraptions in place and viewable from BeerRiff, boats in the harbor would be unable to move anywhere during the day's tides. The set-up allows water to stay in the harbor regardless of how far out the tide goes each day. read more
