Came here on a Sunday and was very disappointed…read more Out of the entire poke bowl menu of about 8 selections, only 2 were available. We were told that on Sundays, they made other poke bowls which weren't on the menu. It sounded like they were using their leftover ingredients to put together what they could. We chose 1 of the 2 bowls that was available, and then told that this was actually not available either as what was left was needed for an existing order. Service was poor. Staff were disorganised - there were 2 waitresses behind the counter and one told us that she could describe the food to us but couldn't actually take our order - for some unknown reason only 1 staff could do this. We ordered some poke and vegetables which were on display at the counter. It took them 15 mins to put on a plate (there were only 6 guests in the cafe and some were eating when we came in). It turns out they had forgotten about our order. A staff approached us and asked if we had ordered yet. While we were eating, I heard the staff shout out to eachother in the kitchen describing what ingredients they had and working out a poke bowl combination to put together - supporting my theory that they were using leftovers.

Poke lovers rejoice, there is a straight up Poke spot in Sydney!!!…read more Found on the backstreets of Coogee Beach, if you ever missed the poke in Hawaii there is now a solution. When you rock up you can order a small bowl for $15 which comes with your choice of poke, one side, and black rice or if you're hungry you can order a large for $20 which comes with two choices of poke, one side, and black rice. The poke varies from spicy tuna, salmon, kingfish, and others all with different marinades and ingredients. Super fresh and tasty af....sides vary from seaweed salad, potato salad, coleslaw, kim chi and more. I got the large with spicy tuna (ahi) and the Aloha way (salmon) which is the classic along with potato salad. This will definitely fill you up and I plan on coming back. Real healthy and real tasty...can't ask for more.

Another cafe has popped up in Mosman but this time its gluten and lactose free and I'm pretty…read moreexcited. At Cafe Free you can indulge with an American diner style serving of gluten free waffles or enjoy a bacon and egg gluten free roll to feed your hangover. I'm proud to say I wasn't hungover when I visited Cafe free so I chose the waffle route - its not everyday you see waffles listed as gluten free on a menu. Ordering gluten free pancakes or waffles is usually disappointing as eateries struggle to create the fluffiness of normal pancakes. I am often faced with a small serving that is sparingly decorated whilst everyone else is enjoying a stack of buttermilk pancakes with banana, ice cream and maple syrup. Not fair. Cafe Free is exempt from this gluten free bias. To my delight I was greeted with an epic stack of waffles covered in caramelised banana, strawberries and decadent dollops of treacle butter. The waffles were thick and doughy (who knew something gluten free could be doughy?), the banana was perfectly crispy and THAT TREACLE BUTTER. The dollops were initially intimidating and I felt pretty guilty watching them melt amongst the grid of the waffle but I finished the whole plate. No regrets. I was full for the rest of the day but if you had to choose one meal to last you the day you want to make it waffles from Cafe Free. Outside of the waffle experience is a menu full of items that we are used to seeing as gluten full. At Cafe Free you'll find wraps that don't crack, gluten free Vegemite spread and a steak sandwich on the menu. Beyond their breakfast and lunch menu they offer $20 take home dinners and are looking at moving into the evening with tapas. There were also talk of gluten free lasagna - win. All of this is thanks to their Chef, Zoe, and her family and friends who have come together to provide a gluten and lactose free dining experience. On arrival I am greeted by Zoe's brother, Adam and am served by one of Zoe's friends and her mum. Even amongst people buzzing in and out for a late breakfast or takeaway coffee, you can really feel that family element. Speaking with Zoe I learnt about her seasonal menu and experimentation with the baked goods that are on display in store and on social media (so you can't escape that almond milk custard tart that you've been thinking about all week). There is certainly plenty to look forward to as Cafe Free grows. Watch this space.

Lovely decor and lighting is super cozy. Best garlic bread I've had in my life, would go back just for that. Also had the pumpkin pizza which was delicious. Prices aren't too bad considering the quality and you can definitely share a pizza between 2 people.

Came across Kneading Ruby on the phone and liked the sound of the restaurant and they are open till late. Tried to book once we checked into our hotel but ended up on a waiting list.. (at the top though) After pre dinner drinks at Humber bar (separate review) which was only meters away, I walked up two check on the table. The signage to the entrance was confusing, as it's through double doors which i thought was a loading dock.. They took my details again and I got a call within 10 minutes... We were in! Friendly rustic restaurant and at 9:30 the place was humming. I ca imagine what it would be like without Covid restrictions. Drinks were good (Negroni for me and something sweet and fancy looking for my wife). Looking around, almost every table had a pizza and they all looked amazing.. Woodfired, thin crusted simple pizzas.. Anyway..., we had: Heirloom tomato-Nashi pear-Buffalo mozzarella and Ginger salad. Brilliant (except the Nash I just tasted like regular pears) Oysters with Grape- Prosecco and Limoncello. Very good Beef cheeks (slow cooked goodness) Cannellini bean- Charred shallots Different food, friendly Rustic venue. Definitely worth the visit (make sure you book early) I will be back.
