How long has it been since I went into a traditional sweet shop? 20-odd years probably. Having my…read moretwo young nephews with me was the perfect excuse to pop in and try and get some 'chewing nuts' that had once been a childhood favourite. Though the exterior and interior looks a tad tired, the shop has dozens of jars filled with sweets and chocolates beyond counting (amongst these were the stereotypical newsagent offerings, this place wears two hats it seems). The shop's owner was a friendly chap who weighed out our purchases in an old-school set of scales and popped them in those crinkled white paper bags I remembered from when I was my nephews' age. A cracking little place, one of a few ones left in the UK I imagine. I hope it keeps on trading as I want more of those chewy chocolate and toffee delights!

The best newsagents around! The gentleman owner IS a gentleman he has run / owned this shop for…read moreyears and years. If you cant find it here or if John cant get it for you then it either doesn't exist or its not worth having! The shop offers a delivery service for newspapers (i did once work there as a newspaper boy) or he will order in for you and pick up on your way past and get some of the proper sweets out of the jars mmmmm. The shelves are always full no matter what time of year it is so if its something for a kids birthday prezzie or a witches hat for halloween pop in suprise yourself and support a great local independant shop!

Great local paper where you find out all the local new. It also has a great upto notice of local…read moreevents and offers avaliable at shops. my family have been in the paper many times for various things but they are always lovely and if you phone them up with a story they are always interested.
