The Emotional Cost of Being Ignored After a Brain Injury I survived something most people don't. A Glasgow 3 coma An anoxic brain injury so severe, I was barely expected to live -- let alone function. But I came back. And instead of being supported, I was dismissed. Treated like a case that wasn't worth following up on. Brushed off. Misunderstood. Labeled. For years, I tried to explain something was wrong. I begged for help. I shared my history. I said the words "brain injury," "coma," "anoxic damage" -- and was met with blank stares or cold indifference. I wasn't just neglected -- I was gaslit. Made to feel like I was dramatic, overreacting, or imagining things. Meanwhile, my brain was screaming for help. That kind of invalidation? It breaks something inside you. You start to question your reality. You start to feel crazy -- not because you are, but because you're being ignored in plain sight. By the time the truth finally came out -- in an MRI ordered a decade too late -- it was already too late to undo the damage. What I'd been saying all along was confirmed. The emotional weight of carrying this for years with no validation, no support, and no answers is crushing. This review isn't about revenge. It's about accountability. Because no one should have to fight this hard just to be heard.

Colostomy. Had this done last week of 2021. While in recovery I complained that the tops of my legs were numb. All the docs I saw said it would come back. Took a year but now had pain on sides of upper legs. Also had a reaction to the anesthesia and ended up being there one month. Been to physical therapy and didn't help.. have to take short steps and feel clumsy at times. Don't know where to go from here. No one seems to have an answer. Reluctant to go walking as I have no stamina any more. Can't eat fiber. Fruits . vegetables. Any dairy products. Developed bowel incontenance from this whole mess

This is an actual patient rokm at this hospital on April 20, 2023. WTH is with the vent hose from the ceiling thing and how is that hygenic?

Ask the Community - Beebe Healthcare

Is it safe to go for an MRI at the Hospital on Savannah Rd. by April 3rd.?

Good morning. We apologize for this late response. As you probably already know Beebe has suspended all diagnostic imaging at the Margaret H. Rollins Lewes Campus until further notice.

Good morning, I have been a patient at Tunnell for several years. It was nice to see that at the…read morebuilding next door to Tunnell, I could receive an mri and a mammogram. The problems occurred with the people at the registration desks. They were not polite or helpful either time that I went. The first time was this past Monday when I went for an mri. The information I thought I needed was in my purse but when I first entered the building, I was told I didn't need it. The registration clerk said I couldn't go forward with the mri because I didn't have the right information. She was snarky and impolite and finally someone else came over and said that what I had thought I didn't need, I needed to enroll for the mri. I want to be clear, the mri technicians were wonderful and kind. I have had the experience many times of an mri, so I know it is never easy or fun. The following day I was scheduled to have a mammo, and again the woman at the registration desk was not helpful and seemed to have a bad attitude. The problem this time was that the original script was from an oncologist I was no longer seeing. The registration clerk was not helpful in trying to get the new doctor at Tunnell to write a new script and send it to the registration desk so I could get the mammo. She was so rude that I simply got up, took what papers I had, and walked out. The training for registrations clerks should be critical in making them understand that people who are coming for tests, treatments, etc. usually have a medical condition and paramount to everything else, kindness, courteousness, and helpfulness is most important. I apologize for having lost it both days. It's not in my nature to be rude but I simply can't understand what is going on at Beebe. I am high risk for a second breast cancer but I really am unsure how to proceed. Vicki Lant 12/9/21

I was initially told I would not be able to see my previous provider, even though I had received confirmation by text from the office. When I came in to sign the required release of information forms, the staff member I spoke with was dismissive and rude, even though she already knew I would be out of state for a week. Only after I showed her the message from the office did she go back and confirm with the provider, who agreed to see me after all. Later, when I arrived for my appointment at the new office on Coastal Highway, the same staff member was there. I arrived five minutes late after driving in from out of state, which the office policy allows to be waived once. I completed all paperwork, but she never checked me in. As a result, the provider came out and took another patient instead of me, even though my appointment was scheduled first. This was extremely frustrating and anxiety-provoking -- especially for someone seeking behavioral health care. The dismissive attitude and lack of basic administrative care made the entire experience feel chaotic and unsafe. I left feeling unsettled rather than supported. I strongly believe this office would benefit from trauma-informed customer service training, especially when working with mental health patients. Front-desk staff play a critical role in patient experience, and this one interaction made me decide not to return.

They took as many tests as insurance would allow and referred us to this practice to get an MRI. The hospital gave us medicine for pain, swelling and muscle relaxer. The instructions from the hospital said he needed an MRI immediately. It took over two weeks to get in to see someone. The doctor would not do an MRI and barely examined him at all and gave my husband a shot of cortisone to the knee. The shot never worked at all. We received better care at the Hospital. We walked out with no diagnosis and a script for a muscle relaxer and a guess that it was a torn meniscus. They suggested physical therapy but in the absence of a real diagnosis it is ridiculous. We are now going to a wonderful real Doctor and getting an MRI. Do yourself a favor-if you need an Orthopedic Doctor skip this practice-it is expensive Assembly Line Medicine and not real care.
