The musubi has the perfect rice to spam ratio and great sauce. The banana bread was moist, perfectly sweetened, and has lots of banana in it. And everything was reasonably priced. The boy who was making the musubi for us was very nice and friendly. I'm so surprised this place hadn't been added to Yelp yet. That said, let's start things off with that cannoli waffle (first pic) special! I'm actually gasping for air because that cannoli waffle left me breathless. The filling was velvety, rich, and sweet, and the ricotta cheese added a lovely mild nutty flavor. I also tasted a slight tang, so I'm wondering if they used mascarpone too. Whatever they did, they need to keep doing it! The chocolate chips not only added crunch but also added contrast because the cocoa flavor had a slight bitterness, so overall, it was very umami. The owner/operator is there serving hot made to order dogs. He is closed Wednesday and Sunday (makes sense as his booth is in the parking lot of a church). It appeared to be a popular local spot, we were the only tourists, and listened to the local chatter. We both ordered the Portuguese dog, which is large, with cheese. He fries it right on the grilled bun. We took ours over to the local park, he wrapped them in foil for us. The dogs were $10 each, and we probably should have shared. For the pricy island, a good deal for lunch!

They even offer free, hot green tea. It wasn't crowded when we went there for lunch. The server said we could order from the dinner menu too. The restaurant is decorated with a bunch of old family photos. It's not a fancy food location, but a place that is in the locals' hearts. Also, it's not standard Japanese American food, so don't come in looking for rolls and such! Instead, they serve fresh, perfectly prepared Japanese food with a Hawaiian twist, favorites like saimin and shrimp tempura. The large saimin ($16.17) was delicious and really hit the spot. I got the No. 3 Teishoko which comes with Miso Soup, Sashimi, Sukiyaki, Shrimp Tempura, Sunomono, Tsukenomo, and Rice. The tuna was so smooth and melts in your mouth. And I loved the flavor of the pairing of pickled vegetables with the sukiyaki (flavorful and tender). I do wish the shrimp tempura had a little more shrimp and less tempura batter though. Also, we didn't realize that our waitress was the great granddaughter of Grandma Teshima herself. She was so nice to us during our visit! I would recommend checking out this restaurant. Looking forward to trying out their breakfast the next time we come back!
