This school, however has absolutely failed my children academically. If you have a child that is neurodiverse, this school cannot meet their needs. If you have a child that is gifted, they will not be able to meet their full potential. The class sizes are at 30-33 in 1st and 2nd grade! My child's teacher assured us multiple times that my child would get the help they need. In the end my child's teacher, who had been his teacher for 1.5 years "strongly encouraged" us to find a new school midyear, with no warning. All of the previous reassurance, that they had resources for his learning needs, from her swept away. Now the same teacher is asking for parent volunteers to go in and teach children, not their own, to read. She cannot meet the needs of these children, yet you will not hear this, when the class size concern is brought up at parent meetings. You will be reassured over and over until your child has fallen so far behind, they need multiple interventions to catch up to where they should be or where they were before they started this school. My daughter was advanced for her age before this school. She requested to go back to homeschooling. She would sit in class, at AWS, with her hand raised and never get any help. She was quiet and not one of the louder children yelling out for help. She said she could not focus and would get pushed around by the boys on the playground. The school purposely holds children back from progressing "too fast." They have reasons for this. The issue is the class sizes hinder the children from moving as quickly as they need to, given the Waldorf methods, when they reach the appropriate age/grade level to do so; and they refuse to change. You will hear promises of expanding the grades to have fewer children in the classroom. This has been a promise for years. They have yet to follow through and deny any issues, even though there are many. The teachers do not fight for their students. The office staff is sweet, but when you get down to the people truly in charge, they only care about money.

Not only is my daughter learning her letters, sounds and numbers; more importantly she is learning, patience, concentration, care for her community and environment, independence and more! Her last week was full of tears about leaving her beloved school to move on to elementary. We feel she received a incredibly strong academic foundation from MSE, while also learning a love of nature, a sense of responsibility and mindfulness for others, and a feeling of joy in learning. The classroom is bright and peaceful, and the Montessori materials were engaging and challenging. The teachers at MSE are highly experienced Montessorians who care deeply about the children at the school. The teachers also hold parent education meetings, parent conferences, and an annual open house where the children show the parents the classroom materials. Parent observations during the school day are welcome; we did many over the years. The teachers were always open to our questions and requests to discuss issues relating to our child. We also enjoyed the many opportunities to interact with other parents at the school picnics, weekly park playdates, and monthly Mom's Night Out. We felt very lucky to be a part of the MSE community.

We have removed him from the school due to the lack of compassion from Jaya to her employees. Shes seems more worried about being in charge then running a solid school. We have emailed her many times about our concerns and they were all quickly dismissed. Its a shame as many of the good teachers have since left or been run off but I would avoid the school as long as she is employed.

I drive all the way to Bee Cave from Westlake because we love it so much! Finding a school around here that supports both a younger and an older child can be challenging, but the Prep truly excels at meeting kids where they are while helping them grow and learn! The balance of play and education is outstanding. Each day, our 4yo comes home excited to share what she did all day! The teachers know how to keep learning fun while still building real skills, and it shows in our kids' confidence and development. The administrative team deserves special praise. They are incredibly organized, communicative, and genuinely invested in every family's experience. Whether it's daily updates, thoughtful check-ins, or seamless handling of schedules and transitions, the admin staff sets the tone for a warm and well-run environment. The school and its amenities is my fave part and why I won't ever leave! Bright, clean, and purposefully designed, the classrooms and play areas create an inviting space where children can explore safely and comfortably. No other school in the area has a tech room, multi-purpose room (gym), cafeteria, SEVERAL Playgrounds, and an amazing splash pad! I am saddened to write this review, but it may spare other children and parents the physical and…read moremental pain our family has experienced. We have sent all three of our children to the Prep and were one of the first families to sign up when they opened. The past few years have been good overall but the level of care has dropped significantly and my youngest baby was injured several times in a very short period of time. Based on the goodwill they have built over the years with us we continued to give the Prep opportunities to improve and make changes to keep my son safe. They said they would and completely failed. The photos below show the final straw before we removed our baby and another child from the Prep. Unfortunately, there were also other incidents were my child was injured and I was told by Prep management that "they would keep a better eye on him." We are reasonable parents with three children and understand that from time to time one of our kids may get a bump or scratch. The injuries my son suffered however go beyond anything acceptable. We repeatedly asked to speak with the owner, Heather White, but she never contacted us. We also asked to see the video of what happened, but the request went ignored. We filed a police report so hopefully they will have better luck getting the videos. Our feeling at this point is the owner is only in it to open as many locations/franchises as possible and make a buck. Clearly could not care less about responding to parents, oh sorry "paying customers," and even more disturbing could not care less about keeping the babies we are entrusting them with safe. If you are considering the Prep I suggest you instead leave your children with a pack of wild coyotes in the woods--they'll probably be safer...

$20k per year tuition fees with super average curriculum execution…read more As a parent expect to receive multiple extremely long winded emails every day requesting you make/bring something to school - I would count myself as very organized yet found it extremely difficult to keep up with all their requests Unusually high Headmaster attrition - we had 3 different Headmasters in 1 year - not a great sign Worst part of the experience was when we ended up needing to move a new town outside Austin and a new school - when I cancelled (2 months before the beginning of the school year) - IST insisted on not only keeping my deposit (I absolutely understand this) but the tuition fees I paid in advance. The school year wasn't even close to starting! For a not-for-profit this is a fairly shameful business practice and a terrible moral example to our children. After I explained my position to the (at least right now current) head Brian he looked me in the eye and agreed the tuition fee refund I was asking for was fair - to which he then sent an email days later rescinding this and denying me a refund. Shady beyond belief. For these reasons I would not recommend sending your child to IST.
