Unfortunately, our experience did not match those expectations. During a trial day, a young autistic child became upset after a developmentally typical frustration in a new environment. Instead of observing the calm support, co-regulation, and individualized approach we expected from a program with this stated level of expertise, we experienced a response that felt escalating rather than supportive. There were also concerns with the emotional regulation of the leading staff member, and online records that reinforced concerns related to emotional regulation and safety. The biggest concern was the disconnect between the program's stated philosophy and what we observed in practice. A moment that could have been handled as an opportunity for connection, regulation, and teaching instead left us questioning whether the environment was truly equipped to support autistic children in the way it represents, or any child. Ultimately I did not feel comfortable trusting my daughter to Magnolia. I am grateful we had the opportunity to see this before the school year began, but it was disappointing to have to reconsider so close to the start of school after believing we had found the right fit. Every child deserves a program whose practices match its promises.

If you have a child in special education, RUN ... don't walk away from this district. Between not…read morebeing able to draft a proper IEP, to failing to properly implement the IEPs and 504s they do come up with, a lack of resources, and just a severely incompetent Sped Director it's a disaster. If a child has severe issues with changes in routine, they'll do the opposite and change his plan (with out an ARD) 4-5 times in a month and blame him when he reacts exactly has his evaluations says he will. Privacy? What privacy. It's a free flow of gossip and information here. In fact, don't be surprised when your son's privacy student/medical data somehow reaches your other child in a middle school. Don't expect disciplinary action to staff when this occurs when it can be traced back to a specific source. Even though volunteers sign a privacy pledge, don't expect there to repercussions for this when they violate it either. And, when they go to a birthday party over the weekend and start gossiping and sharing a free flow of protected information between them and their friends, expect a coordinated attack which results in a temper tantrum when the school doesn't remove a kid from a placement with in 24 hours by going to a sandy hook website intended for severe acts of violence while not citing any real incidence but frequently citing a child disabilities as disruptive, mocking facial expressions, and equating disability related behaviors to psychopathy. The parents here are bigots and are quoted several times as saying special education kids don't belong in the general education class and are in need of removal. To which, the school will ultimately violate federal and state laws and remove the child at their request. When your last attempt for compliance is to file an OCR complaint (that OCR agrees to take on due to the egregious nature of violations) expect a mirrad of retaliatory tactics, non compliance, and an obscene amount of gaslighting. RECORD EVERY CONVERSATION EVEN IN CIVIL. Despite their sped population growing over 3% since the 2019-2020 school year, their budget has not increased to accommodate growth to support these programs. This they will not take on that issue but what they will do is spend a ridiculous amount of money on a an attorney out of Houston to fight you on having to do their jobs. A bill that will likely incur them fees more than their sped transfer budget of $75,000 (which also hasn't increased). It's honestly comical at this point. But, seriously, run away. Which is probably what they want anyway to artificially pump up their testing scores.

There are no cliques and no bullying and when we have had issues we have raised them with the teachers and they have jumped on them to solve them immediately, and unlike other private schools there's no sense of entitlement from the parents or students. Also, because the school is so good at awarding scholarships not everyone is 'rich'! The school also has a great parent teacher association which offer weekly meet-ups and play dates as well as adult only events. Each class also has a WhatsApp chat group so parents can easily communicate with each other. If it sounds like one big happy family you'd be right, that's exactly what it feels like. In terms of academics my adhd child has thrived. Diagnosed at 4 we thought she would struggle but the school has been amazing at supporting her needs and accommodating her. They also offer many different seating types from a bouncy ball chair, to cushions on the floor and other such. It's very holistic and non political and offers many diverse ways of learning. They have a calming corner, encourage reading and emotional open communication as well many other ways of teaching emotional and academic intelligence. They teach in Spanish from day one and introduce Mandarin from 3rd grade, they also teach following the international Baccalaureate which is amazing. It teaches the children self confidence through weekly presentations and teaches them autonomy. Honestly this school is amazing and now it goes until 12th grade we are obsessed and so you will be too. But, sshh don't tell anyone about our secret slice of heaven.

He is growing up to be a well spoken, well thought, caring little human. I love that he is bilingual, but I really love his open minded views and his eagerness to learn. The teachers... the teachers have all been so amazing. They are loving, caring and really take each student's personalities and abilities into consideration as they grow from year to year. As I said, it's not the cheapest option and we do discuss yearly if we will be renewing his tuition-- and, with each year this answer comes easier and easier with an astounding "YES". We love the school, the community, the parents and look forward to many more years at Magellan!

Ms. Stephanie has been incredible and is always available to give us updates on our daughter's potty training. She encourages her all the time to do things on her own and she's been so crucial for us in helping us potty train our daughter. The front desk of TLE has been amazing as well! Ms. Jessica and her team have done an amazing job and really have given a lot of consistency to the facility that we felt was lacking for a while. Seeing Ms. Jessica's and Ms. Phoenix's faces in the morning always lights up our daughter's face. We are moving away soon and won't be able to send our daughter here. We will truly miss the staff and all they have done for our daughter. They have made such a big impact on our daughter's and our lives and we hope we've made a lasting impression as well.

I get a call from daycare stating my child had slapped a teacher at 4:50pm during nap time. On…read morethe way home, I explained to my child we do not hit teachers. That is not a nice thing to do. We keep our hands to yourself. Well then my daughter proceeds to tell me the teacher squeezed me and it hurt my heart. When she tells me this she sounded sad and hurt. I went into panic mode asking what does that mean? Like you couldn't breathe or were you in pain? I said when we get home, demonstrate to me and your dad what happen. Well we get home and ask more questions, she said momma sit down, I sit down and she sits in between my legs. She said momma push your legs together like this. She said squeeze me, that's what the teacher did to me. So I said did it hurt? she said yes my heart. So when I dropped her off I told the director, I need a meeting. She asked is everything ok, I said yes and no. I didn't want to give her too much info because I didn't want to lose camera footage. They are known to lose footage or they can not play it back. We have our meeting the next day. I explained to her what happened and told her I want to see the cameras. She explains they are live streamed and aren't able to play it back. So happen the area manager was there. I said what do you mean you can't play them back and so what is the point of having them? So she takes me to the area manager to explain the process of the cameras. She asked what do I want to see. I said a teacher squeezed my daughter and she asked for the teachers name. We go over what happened. They explain I understand if I was in your shoes I would be a concerned parent too and I don't think that teacher would do that. I know you and your family have been here since ******* was a baby. Our priority is to make sure your child is safe but we also want to advocate for our teachers too. They tried to reassure me but it didn't work. The director writes my statement, stated they would question the teacher and get her statement, then they would turn this into licensing, licensing would then investigate the school and then licensing would reach out to me to question the situation. They said in the mean time we will keep this teacher and your daughter in separate rooms. I'm still upset because my child has been here since she was 6 months old and it was like they didn't care. At that point my child turned into a number. We wrap up the meeting. My daughter wanted to go home with her dad, so we go get her things and as we are walking out, my daughter points to the wall and said that's the teacher that squeezed me. Mind you she is on the wall for teacher of the month. So I told myself submit the situation yourself. So I go on the website for daycare abuse and submitted a report. Well when I submitted it, I didn't get a confirmation email or anything. So I find out licensing came to daycare but no one was telling me anything. So then I go back to state website and call the 800 number. That same day licensing reaches out to me. We are talking and she's asking questions. She says something that triggers that she is going off my report. I said what? I said wait you didn't get a report from daycare, she said no. I receive this from an online report. I said you came on Monday and I asked them if you came. They were acting like they submitted the report like they were helping. They didn't want to report this because they were already under an investigation. At that point before I had talked to licensing something told me to pull my daughter out and I did. I went in to get a document signed and the director says Brie's not here, is she coming tomorrow, I said nope and then she asked is she coming Friday? I said nope and she then say is she coming back at all and I said nope. She said did you tell anyone. I said I was getting to that. I said my daughter will not be back and she then hands me the withdrawal form. I signed the form and left. I wasn't going to keep my daughter here. The trust from this facility was gone after they didn't report to licensing, my daughter would say she hated this school or she was scared to go in. I couldn't do it. She had went through 5-6 teachers alone in preschool. She doesn't even acknowledge the school when we pass it. That should tell you something. She use to say that's my school. Trust me, it hurt to make that decision because she also had friends she grew up with since they were 6 months old but I did not feel safe leaving her there with her comments.

Our son has Down Syndrome, and after a challenging experience at another school, Explorers welcomed him with open arms. They learned sign language to help him communicate and made sure developmentally he was in the commensurate age group. Most notably, they've helped him build tremendous physical strength. When we first adopted our son (age 4), he didn't feel comfortable at a playground because he didn't have the strength or balance to climb and run with other kids. Within a few months at Explorers Adventure School, he began climbing, jumping, and running - now, he slides down the tallest slide at any playground and climbs everything. He's gained so much confidence physically - It's been an incredible transformation. From a parent's perspective, their communication is top-notch. They text and email me. They are responsive and incredibly organized. And most of all, they are genuine and kind people who treat our son with respect and love. I would recommend Explorers Adventure School to anyone. It is the most equitable, adaptive and welcoming school we've been to as parents of a child with special needs.

She is well-versed in how to manage a room full of toddlers and she makes sure that all of those kids knows that she loves them each and every time they leave for the day. My son went 3 days a week, and would've wanted to go every day if he could. He was never scared about going, and it felt like a good, comfortable environment for him. I loved that when there were times that I needed to pick him up late, because my youngest son was still sleeping, Mrs. Lori would let me pay a nominal fee for the extra time. The flexibility was such a blessing for our family! We needed to take advantage of it many times throughout the year! The amount of songs and things that the kids learn is staggering. And they know all of their songs and are willing to perform them in front of their parents! They work so hard on getting those kids ready for their big moments. The graduation ceremony was the cutest thing ever! If we weren't moving to Houston, I'd be sending my youngest there in a heartbeat. We highly recommend All Stars Academy!!!

It pains me to write this review since I, for a long time, believed this school was a blessing and had such a positive experience with it. But unfortunately I and many other parents have been made aware of spanking and other questionable behavior by the multiple teachers and owner. The owner will deny it but I find it hard to believe that it's not happening when I've heard so many children come forth with unprompted admission to being spanked or seeing spanking. I know on the surface it seems like a sweet 90's nostalgic daycare but I firmly believe that what once was a small loving daycare has gotten out of hand with ratios and the teachers can no longer handle it.

My experience at Parkside was challenging. The admin was changing over and there was little…read morecommunication, and more than a bit of aggressive interactions with admin. We had a new teacher who was enthusiastic when the students were perfect, and utterly overwhelmed and clueless when the students had challenges. My son has ADHD, and despite telling me they has experience with 2E kids, the teacher thought my son had severe emotional problems when my son would self sooth by going in a corner to be alone for a bit. They also did not communicate in any way the depth of the problems my son was having in school. I finally realized the extent of his issues when I began attending daily to see for myself. They were often rude and childish in response to issues or complaints. They had a history of keeping teachers even after multiple complaints of abusive behavior. Their insistence on parent interaction was amazing, and the singalongs were fabu. But it doesn't make up for the severely subpar teaching, the reusing of the same curriculum every year, the nasty admin, and the overall confusion of vision with a high price tag. Do not recommend this school beyond kindergarten at all!

From top to bottom, it's an excellent program with marvelous staff and leadership, and a wonderful community. Some of things we love most about Parkside: it's uniquely and authentically Montessori, which was important to us when we were looking at schools. The teachers (called guides) are loving, creative, and thorough in their teaching methods. We were blown away when barely a month in, our daughter came home singing about all the continents of the world! The 12-acre campus is beautiful and well maintained. The kids get lots of outdoor time and often take hikes together as a class. They learn to value and sing about nature, including our new favorite song, "Chlorophyll" written by the founders. Music is a big part of Parkside life, and at least 1-2 events a week are organized around it (parents are invited to participate as well). We've enjoyed all the opportunities for families to get involved at Parkside and we've made some great friends already. Even through the craziness of the pandemic, Parkside staff led the way with through health protocols and regular communication with Austin Public Health to keep the kids safe and allow school to continue. In short, we've found Parkside to be an amazing, friendly, beautiful place that is nurturing our daughter to her full potential. We highly recommend it!

My son is now a second grader at School On The Rise and I am so happy about how he is nurtured and loved in this small school. The teachers are very experienced Waldorf teachers and the environment is homey and safe. Nature and outdoors is main pilar and movement is another. These all make the school a magical place to grow in. Highly recommend this school.

Even tho he still has learning difficulties, he is reading at his level now, he is doing difficult math problems, understanding fractions, and slowly starting to write. Kids play in the woods, build things, make things, the art and creativity is very present. You cannot underestimate Ms and Mr Darcy's 30 years experience in woldorf education. They have seen it all and they are incredible at what they do. The school feels like a little piece of haven for kids to play, learn and developed. And probably the biggest reason we are such big fans is School on the Rise is the small classroom environment, where kids were able to cultivate strong friendships. They truly care for each other, it is the sweetest environment. We highly recommend.

We have loved the move to Sunshine Cottage from our previous daycare!…read more Our daughter is in Ms Lia's class and is so well-cared for -- she gets just the right amount of independence while still being able to socialize with other kids. We are so impressed by the updates we get (the app this school uses updates in real time instead of getting a report at the end of the day like our last place); it has made all the difference in our night routines knowing that she had a tough time taking a nap at 2 instead of figuring it out at home at 630. We also have enjoyed the extras that are at Sunshine Cottage -- huge playgrounds with age appropriate equipment, bikes/trikes to work on motor skills, dress up bins and play areas in the classroom, and (our latest exciting update) a dance class from an outside studio that is sooo affordable!

The poorest quality of care, curriculum, cleanliness and the owners lack of support for staff is…read moresad! These folks do not do trainings but they sign off anyway. These folks owner constantly changes staff hours to not pay them the time they work. The children are fed very unhealthy foods, no milk on their menu for over 3 years. The program does not adhere to state standards and is constantly reported and cited. I'd never recommend leaving children here of any age....EVER!

We have been so incredibly happy with our experience with both ages and classrooms. They have such nurturing and kind teachers and staff, and it's a welcoming and happy space. My kids never want to leave! They have flexible scheduling, offering before school care (8:15-9), 4 hours of preschool (9-1), and after school care (1-2:30), with options of 2, 3, or 5 days per week. I couldn't be happier with FUMP and its community of parents, teachers and staff.
