I was looking for a new double bed and popped into this hop one afternoon. It was the first time I…read morehad been in and the staff were very pleasant. I explained what I was looking for and the girl showed me the different styles. I chose a divan with drawers for storage and was pleasantly surprised at the price. The pattern on the mattress etc was not the prettiest you could have, as the girl explained, but once your bedding is on you can't see it anyway so this was not a problem to me. Delivery was very swift as they have the warehouse in town and they didn't charge me for delivery either which is unusual these days. The delivery arrived on schedule and the two guys assembled the bed in the bedroom and took away all of the packaging. Excellent! I will use this company again.

Pathetic is the only word to describe this companys lack of customer care and communication. I…read moreordered an Ottoman and SuperKing mattress to suit, I received 3 emails confirming my order and payment, which was taken from my bank. I then had no further contact until i went online at the my account section of their website. I was surprised to find that my order was listed as refunded, then emailed the company to ask for clarification and received no reply. I then had to telephone the company and was informed that they thought someone had let me know they couldn't deliver to my area so cancelled my order. I am now still waiting to get my money back so I can order a bed from another company that will hopefully fulfil their role and actually supply a bed and mattress.

I listened to their radio advert and went in because my bed was 12 years old with a slightly bemused 'so you reckon i should change my mattress every 7 or 8 years tell me why attitude'. Now that I have had the new mattress a few weeks, I understand exactly, as I didn't really think my previous and much loved mattress was the cause of my constant waking up, I thought it was just my sleeping habits had changed as I got older. Now my Fitbit tells me i am restless a couple of times a night instead of a sleep pattern that looks like a barcode and would you believe it, i actually feel better too so overall money well spent. This Ikea is one of the larger ones around. Situated right next next the Metrocentre, it is a great…read morelocation but this also means it can be crazy busy. If you've ever been to the Metrocentre you know that the traffic is hellish on weekends, so I recommend staying away then. Although it's very large it has a weird layout and feels rather cramped and squished together. Especially in the low-ceilinged warehouse which has laughably short shelves. There is a restaurant half way through the shop as per usual selling the favourites like meatballs and lingonberries but it's very dingy with no natural lighting. Some other Ikeas have windows in them but this one does not. I don't get why they added a "mezzanine" for the market hall. Could they have not just built more shop and put it there? It makes the warehouse more cramped and it's more effort using the lifts or travellators to go up and down. It is pretty good though. Every time I've been in it's never been as chaotic and stressful as the Edinburgh store and the stock here tends to be better than in other Ikeas. So although I've badmouthed Ikea Gateshead quite a bit it's still got its good points.
