The room was clean and large enough, the view from the balcony was great and the location was excellent. While not as spit and polish as Urumea we enjoyed our stay at Donostiarra. Donostiarra offers a common room with hot pot with tea selection, several tables and chairs and a tv. This is great for groups to get together outside their rooms. We felt the value received was well worth staying here. We will be back.

The room had many more amenities than I expected: full bathroom, a/c, tv, large closet, extra chairs. It was clean, stayed cool despite the heat wave, and quiet. It was just a few blocks from the beach, as well as the touristy parts of the town. This Pension was definitely a great value and will stay here again when I return.

The owner, Lourdes, is a great host. We stayed here the first night of a three night trip to the Rioja wine region and San Sebastian, and her recomendations and suggestions, along with help booking visits with wineries/bodegas, was a huge huge asset and served to shape our trip. The hotel itself is very clean and cute, traditional but nice. In the middle of a quiet town, there are a few bars nearby and two very good restaurants in town that serve as destination dining experiences for many people visiting Rioja. The town is also only a 5 minute drive from Haro, where tasting rooms for many wineries are located, and it's not far off a major freeway that you may be following to get to the area. I couldn't say any more about how great it was. We also really appreciated that the bath towels were "sheet" size, huge! It's such a small but worthwhile luxury. Breakfast was mostly home made and served with jams Lourdes made herself! Amazing. Don't hesitate. Beds are also very comfortable.

The reason I left it for last was because I wanted to give the place the attention it really deserves. Jesuskoa is a family owned and operated hotel/Bed & Breakfast. It is located in the small town of Zumaia, about 20 minutes drive from San Sebastian and 45 minutes from Bilbao. The main stone building on the property was built in 18th century by Jesuit priests and has been owned by the Oliden family for about 5 generations. The rooms are charming country-style and have TVs, free Wi-Fi and most importantly very comfortable beds. The apartments also have full kitchens. The restaurant is run by chef Ramón Oliden who uses mostly local ingredients, usually from his own garden. A breakfast buffet is offered for an additional charge, and served in the restaurant which also offers Basque cuisine. If one wishes to a charming and comfortable hideaway in a gorgeous corner of the Basque Country close to beautiful beaches of Zumaia, or the driving distance of beautiful coast of the Bay of Biscay in San Sebastian, Casa Rural Jesuskoa is the place to stay.
