As based on reviews, we heard this is one of the better credit unions of the area. We were helped by an employee named Austin. And he was amazing!! My bf has never been with a credit union so we were asking for Austin to explain everything to us. And Austin went above and beyond to explain every single process and to make us feel comfortable and safe with this bank. Austin's customer service provided was an easy 10/10. Applied for a HELOC in the summer of 2024 and began drawing on it in the summer of 2025 for a major home renovation. As the projects progressed, it became clear that there were some additional issues that needed to be addressed under the surface. Overwhelmed, I contacted BECU to see if my HELOC amount could be increased. After a very reassuring, lovely phone call, it appeared that I would qualify for a larger amount that could cushion the blow of these unforeseen expenses and allow me to complete the project. Received a phone call today letting me know that, because the project is currently ongoing, they can't complete the application--even though the representative I first spoke with assured me this would not be a problem, and it happens all the time. Between the time I spoke with the first representative and today, I've signed off on and committed to paying for the full renovation. How am I going to be able to pay for this? It takes BECU at least a month to process new applications. Feeling completely betrayed and misled by BECU. Horrible. read more

I used to really like banking with BECU, but after six years, they suddenly told me that I HAD to change to a different account type for my very small one-person business. At first, I just thought that this was a bit of a pain, but no big deal. However, with the account type that I HAD to change to, I couldn't use Zelle! I had been using Zelle for years, and it's how I receive all of my payments in my small business! When I spoke with a customer service representative about this, they told me that I'd have to receive checks from my customers instead. Seriously? Demanding paper checks from my customers in 2024? No, what I have to do is move to using another bank. If you're a small business, I suggest avoiding BECU. Terrible service of small businesses. read more

The BECU ATM literally broke while my husband was depositing a fairly large sum of money. Had to wait nearly a month to get our money back.

BECU has gone way downhill. If you are $2 short on a $700 check they will run it right away and charge you a $25 non sufficient funds fee and not push it through. But if you have the money to cover a charge it takes days. Bad moral practices. Feels like Wells Fargo. Closing all of my accounts. I was with them for years. Get it together BECU you used to be good people. Also, if you need quarters or any other change fives ect. You have to drive 45min to the Everett location. read more

Sadly, I stopped banking with BECU for the most part about five years ago after some really big issues came up. And I do find it quite frustrating that they have branches, but no tellers unless you go all the way to Everett or Tukwila. It just makes things such a hassle to work with them and Verity Credit Union is literally so much better and so much easier to use in general, so I'm glad I switched! read more

Free dedicated surface lot parking with 24-hour ATM access. I've come by myself after hours and felt safe getting withdraws here. The staff here are friendly when I have spoken with them. The only bummer is that BECU doesn't offer some of the services that I need, such as: foreign currency exchange, cash on-site for exchanging bills (their ATMs only give you $20 or $100 bills), and safety security boxes. read more

I think that they are a great banking institution for their customers but my son accidentally deposited cash into one of their ATMs but the bank account was through CHIME and they don't do cash deposits that way so the ATM spit out a receipt saying that he needed to contact the financial institution that that's how to get his money back well BECU would have been the one to contact and they refused to help without an invitation from CHIME who wasn't involved. This has been a battle for 6 months but for 400$ dollar loss. So Becu is great if you bank with them but if it's just their 400$ mistake your screwed..... read more

I've been banking with BECU for over a year, I have 5k income and great credit score. I was approved for a small refinance loan and once I gather all requirements I was rejected based on income. They said because you get committed pay you are unreliable pretty much. I made it clear that I'm on guaranteed pay, been at this job for 6 months and my previous employment 3 years and can proof all! Don't waste your time here. BECU likes to think it's for the community but honestly it's for complete profit. I will be looking for another bank to switch to that will respect it's customers instead of playing games and wasting their valuable time. read more

I went in for a refinance on my car an shosana helped my husband and I. Long story short, I let her know that I am a stay at home spouse and she let me know that I had to input something for income but I could not use my household income (never did she tell me that only their credit union does this, other banks can use household income). Another thing she lied about is what I had to put down as my rent (once again I have 0$ responsibilities for rent) but she put that I pay half. I voiced my concerns with the application and she disregarded them. My husband and I were denied at BECU who I have been banking with for year and went to a commercial bank and they were more than happy to work with us (we don't have horrible credit 600-700 with no repossession or evictions on our credit). I was really disappointed that the credit union that claims to be for the people and member owned, why are members getting better deals at commercial banks that's supposedly don't care about you? So it was suggested to me that I ask BECU to removed the hard inquiry on my husband and I credit because we were not advised with all of our options. I called into the 1800 number and spoke to some for 30-40 mins and he said he would have a manger call me back within 20 mins. 24 hours later the manager of the branch I went to Darryl called me and I voiced my concerns about the way the application was done and asked if it was possible to remove the inquiry because of the mis guidance I was given through the application. He chuckled and condescendingly told me that "I heard every word that was said during your application and we did nothing wrong". Excuse me sir! There was 2 -3 other clients in the bank at the time all speaking and we were in a corner so how did you hear? And secondly I understand that you are the branch manager but ease dropping during a financial conversation that i thought was between me and the teller does not make me feel great about going inside BECU not knowing who is listening and what they might do with my information. Over all I am highly disappointed in BECU not that they denied me but they did not care about making sure I was fully informed about my financial decision and actually opted out of telling me my other options even if it wasn't with their bank. That's real customer service, helping your community even if you don't get the business but your client got what is best for their family. And lastly my call with Darryl made me feel like a number to this institution. I grew up in foster care my whole childhood and lived on the streets until I put myself through college and made something of myself. I bank with BECU because they made me feel like they had my back and really cared about me and my money and the well being of my credit (the only safety net I have since I have no parents.) Darryl you should feel ashamed of yourself because of your tone and the disregard you put forth. You have the ability to remove it and you even agreed that I wasn't fully informed so why not? Tried to do a HELOC through BECU. Plenty of equity in our house. There was a severe lack of communication and disorganization with respect to gathering paperwork and moving the process along. It would take 2-4 weeks between communications telling me they needed something. In the end they denied the request saying I didn't send in my W-2 so had no proof of income. I did send them in a couple of times. All this took over 3 months. I should have gone with another lender from the start when I noticed a lack of personal responsibility. I visit you regularly in order to withdraw my funds, as I have a limit that I can only expand on the appoitment. Once again, when I came to you, an employee met me at the entrance, greeted me warmly and we did everything I needed very quickly. He was attentive to details, and it gives a sense of high service. Not good! I payed my car off or so I thought and then there was an additional fee! I had to call and wait on hold for 21 minutes only to be told I had to go and find a BECU location to pay my additional 35.50 more and that it was fault that the amount listed for my payoff was not really the payoff........I will never bank with becu Again. I love BECU! I have been a member for awhile, and I will recommend this credit union to any and everyone. Sure beats the big banks who are just awful and destroyed America. Just recently I've talked to a financial adviser. The financial advisers here are not commission, they are salary so you don't get a push to buy products you may not need just so they get that commission. My adviser listened to me, went over everything clearly, and was honest about what I can and should do. I have nothing but great experiences here. In addition to the financial adviser, I got my car loan from BECU with competitive rates. When it comes down to it, I should just slap you if you don't join. Zipzap Zubidy Bop! read more

I was shocked to discover that my credit was dinged by BECU because my car payment was one penny short. This is after 3 1/2 years of perfect payment history, and without the courtesy of a phone call. I had the impression that Credit unions are more feeling and consumer oriented ~this is certainly not true with BECU. Even the major banks don't ding your credit for being one penny short yet local credit union does? Apparently there's no individual there, just robots who ding ones credit for being .01 cent off on their payment. Do not be fooled into thinking this credit union will give individual service-just the opposite appears to be true with BECU. read more

My favorite BECU location so far! My wife and I chose BECU as our bank due to friends who have had great experiences and this location is definitely one to offer that kind of experience! As you know, this location offers the same types of services that other locations due, but I'll add an additional convenience star due to their own parking lot. my check got eaten by the atm closest to the window at becu northgate 9 days ago and I still haven't heard when I am going to get my 375 bucks back. The 1st person I talked to said in 3-5 days, the second said basically my credit union has to deal with it and all she could do was give me the atm # even though she wasnt sure it would be of any help. After a week, my credit union still hadnt heard ONE WORD from becu even though the 1st person took a detailed report and assured me she would let my credit union know. She lied, the 2nd person said it doesnt work like that. INCOMPETENT!!! I am now online trying to find a number for the maker/maintenance person of ATM MACHINES at becu!!, if such a # even exist. I am pissed how I was treated and LIED to by an employee of theirs and nothing would have been done if I had not went back a second time. INCOMPETENT!!!! read more

I've been a longtime BECU member (dating back to '99) but I haven't used them as frequently of late due to having access to USAA. BECU is a credit union and for the most part, they are great. However, when you use another bank that's great, it's hard to then go back to them. I still have my accounts as active but I only use them primarily for deposits. I came to this location two times. Once to close an old extra account I had and once to make a deposit. The parking is a little bit difficult as they are facing the back part of the strip mall and so you pull in to another parking lot to really get to it or have to drive around the block to get to their parking. The gal was helpful in closing my account but a week later, it still wasn't closed. When I emailed them for help, it turns out my account was never closed by her (seriously?) They use the ATM's that are envelope-less and so they scan your check and/or cash immediately and deposit it. The machine was a little sensitive that day because it kept rejecting one my $20's no less than 5 times. I eventually pulled out another $20 because it was obvious it wasn't going to take it. Still a great place to bank but USAA waives all ATM fees and BECU will only do that if you use a 'coop' Credit union ATM. Can't find those everywhere. read more

We are giddy to be able to walk to a BECU Neighborhood Service Center. We have met with the courteous member reps twice: once to replace a debit card, which was instantaneously produced instore, and once to open a Certificate of Deposit with a monthly Add-To feature. Both times have been effortless, rewarding and satisfying. Lots of free parking available in a lot accessible from 8th Ave NE and one on NE Northgate Way. This BECU center has also donated items to neighborhood school auctions. read more

This rating is specifically for the new BECU business banking system. I have had my business bank accounts with BECU for almost 4 years and was generally pretty happy with them. They recently forced a switch to a new "business" platform which requires me to use a different website and a different app from my personal BECU accounts. As if it weren't enough of a pain to have two BECU apps and two BECU websites, the new BECU Business Banking app is AWFUL. It is legitimately one of the worst apps I've ever used. Not only is it impossible to do or find anything, but now my mobile deposits are constantly being returned (I never once had this problem before the switch). Their only solution is for me to go into the branch and deposit the check through the ATM, which is incredibly time consuming and inconvenient. Unfortunately the new business banking website is not much better. Not sure why BECU had to "fix" something that wasn't broken, but I'm one rejected mobile deposit away from switching to a different credit union. read more

I love BECU. I left my other big bank BofA, they charged me every which way they could. BECU is the opposite, they put money in my account. I had an over draft fee and when I put money in my account they gave me the money back! All my children will open accounts with BECU. read more

Have been a BECU member for almost a year and am so happy I decided to switch. BECU is always extremely responsive and helpful, and really take time to make sure they're understanding what you need, providing you the most accurate information possible, and ensuring they're being timely for your needs. I recently paid off a car loan I had through Umpqua Bank, and the employee I worked with at BECU, Paul Langer, to get the cashier's check was more helpful than anyone I've ever worked with. I came in to BECU with very limited information, and Paul really went above and beyond to get the additional information I needed quickly. My fiance and I just moved to Seattle from Hawai'i, so we knew we needed to get new bank or credit union because we'd left behind our old Hawai'i bank accounts. We thought we could put it off for a few days -- until it turned out we couldn't. We needed a checking account and a cashier's check ASAP, so we rushed over to BECU. We were helped out by Jae, who was completely awesome. She was super friendly, personable, and and went above and beyond in helping us. When both my fiance and I fell short of BECU's required rating for new accounts, before we could even panic, Jae spoke with her manager and got the overrides necessary so we left with new checking and savings accounts that day. It's not a bad "bank," but this thing of "no-human-tellers" is a bit funny. Lots of stuff could be done with one or two dedicated tellers, who could grab a chair and help other customers if the line is empty. On another side, I once asked them for information about a refinance, and I kept getting the run-around from their "mortgage specialist." I went to BoA at the end, whose agent came to my work at the time I specified. I would give BoA no more than one star by the way, but for a multitude of other reasons. All this aside, and the reason of me finally writing this review, the ATM's are too few. If BECU prides itself on being a well-automated financial institution, then it must have more than two machines for a vital branch like Northgate, and a drive-through one. The other day, two were using the two machines (with lots of activities,) and five were standing in line, and I left as two more were heading toward the line. It was ridiculous. read more

Big fan of BECU. Every transaction has been easy including our move from Chase bank. Love the discounts on stuff like our cellular phone account and tickets for fares and Wild Waves and especially love the interest on our checking and savings accounts. Their capability to handle seamless online transfers with external accounts is very rudimentary. They messed up on this with one of our customers trying to make a payment to our account. They I had fraudulent activity on my account, with purchases made in three different states on my account, over a week, with three different signers. They reviewed the activity and determined it didn't look "fraudulent." With three people other than me, the account owner signing on these purchases! It truly seemed no one had actually "looked" at the material I provided to them at all. I had to escalate the matter up a level to get the activity removed. This bank is great for a little Christmas savings account, or perhaps a car loan. But don't go to them for sophisticated banking needs in an era of online bill pay or possible identity theft. They are short of customer service staff and the ability to handle things at the local level. read more

I am concerned that I can hear all the private conversations going on in the booths, including part of social security numbers, loan amounts and other things people are saying to their bankers. Why isn't there more privacy? The tables need to further apart from the waiting area or there needs to be more offices. I am not sure I can bank at this location. I don't need everyone is the waiting area knowing my business. Plus I have been waiting 15 minutes for help from a banker and I still haven't been called back and there is still someone ahead of me, I will have to leave. read more

This was my first bank account in years, and I was pretty nervous because my first bank had a lot of fees and surprise charges and it gave me so much anxiety. I waited less than 5 minutes before the teller, Tanner (I believe) helped me. He was AWESOME, by the way. I got my account set up incredibly quick and they even print the card in the office for you. I also noticed that when it got a little busy in the office, a woman came out and made sure all the customers knew they had been acknowledged and would be helped soon. I think that was a really awesome display of customer service. Loved this office, Love BECU. read more
