I went into the branch today to open a new checking account. Their checking account has some really cool features I haven't seen at other banks. With their Green checking account you get discount movie tickets, coupons for travel, a credit check service and best of all mobile phone insurance. I used to have AT&T mobile phone insurance that costs $15 a month. With WaFd Bank's green checking account I can get that for $7 a month plus all this other stuff. I had no idea, definitely a well kept secret. Anytime we can help local companies vs the large conglomerate like AT&T, sign me up. Keep up the great work WaFd Bank!

I rented a safe deposit box at the Washington Federal branch in Redmond and when I moved to Seattle I closed it two years ago by going into the branch to return my keys and sign the cancelation form. For the past two years I have received multiple bills for the safe deposit box.The first year I called the branch, which confirmed the account was closed, and they said I wouldn't receive another bill. A few weeks later, I received a late noticel. Since then I've repeatedly called the Customer Care Center and am told the account is open. When I explain the account is closed and that I need the billing situation resolved, they say that they will email the branch and follow up with me. No one has ever followed up. My last conversation with Customer Care was about a month ago and I received another bill today. If Washington Federal can't figure out how to close a simple safe deposit box, I wonder how they can be trusted with more complex financial issues? It's not a risk I'm willing to take.

Found out there, the other branch I was at went back on line maybe 5 minutes after I left. Thanks for wasting my time and gas. Phone access almost impossible, you can sit on hold for 30 minutes on a good day. Online chat has never worked for my PC, their techs unable to provide a solution. Cell phone access used to be easy but now it wants to also do the "double check" and once you answer the text properly, it directs you to go back to the site - which is stuck on the verification page - so you log back in and get the same thing all over again! another verification request. I'm really disgusted at all these businesses making it impossibe to access your account online without a smart phone. Just don't lose your phone or you won't be able to access your account, unless you walk into the branch - something which seems to be discouraged. You go in and the bank rep tells you "You could have done your transaction online". . I've banked here several years, but this is my last. Alaska Fed beat the interest rate Harborstone offered me for a car loan. Found out there is better customer service out there than Harborstone cares to provide. Adios!

Charged me an overdraft fee for a coinbase transaction that I never made and it doesn't even show…read moreon my coinbase account, I tried to explain situation to someone on the phone who seemed helpful at first, and then told me there would be a fee to cancel the fee, so I hung up, drove in, and the woman there was extremely rude, I tried to show her my coinbase account history to show that I have made no transactions, she wouldnt even look at it, and said "Well just have to agree to disagree". Pretty upset at the way they treated me as a customer for 10+ years.

Several months later, still no title and was told "we mailed it to the address from the loan so now we can't do anything." Even though they were given the new address and told me they would mail it to the new address. Now I have to file paperwork and pay fo their error. The car loan I paid off 10 months ago still shows on my credit report as having a balance of several thousand dollars. So annoying!!!!!!!

Vicki, the Assistant VP of Customer Experience was happy to sit down with us and explain the best options for getting the money Key was delaying into our account for verification from the mortgage company. She knew my husband and I by sight and calmly explained our options. I've only had an account for 2 years and she still treated us as if we were valued clients. Contrast with Keybank where my family has had account for 30+ years and we were left standing for three hours and told that we, as mere customers, couldn't talk to anyone besides the personal banker whose service we had issues with. Banner may not be open on weekends but they won't try to upsell you every time you walk in the door and they will treat you not only as a person but as a called client
