I was able to schedule an appointment a few months ago on Christmas Eve. Things went swell. Our doctor was being helped by this doctor, and was hearing our case. And as far as other things go, things are better with neurology too. Thanks. And on a separate note, on a separate day early in November, when an ambulance transported the patient to your hospital, it was thought that the "pediatric ICU" was going to be a somber place. However, that wasn't the case. Things are moving and such. It may not be a lively place, but things are more upbeat than people would have expected it to be.

This is the worst experience I have ever had in my life. The EMS took us in because my 2 month old…read morehad a Febrile seizure we got there everything was good in the ER they gave us a room with a bed while we waited. This happened 09/14 at around 6:30 A RN nurse by the name Sandra Hervias came in talked to us good asked if we needed to be spoken in English or Spanish okay English is fine. We were told my baby needed some test to be done. One test was a urine sample. The same nurse came in everything was fine. She told me she needed to do the urine sample with a catheter which was fine. She took my babies diaper and proceeded to forcefully retract my babies foreskin in which I stood up for my baby who was crying hard and told her "No please do not do that". Which she then said you're supposed to be pulling it back. I told her no you're not because he is still small it can hurt him and cause an infection. She then said it's the opposite if you don't pull it back he will get an infection. I told her again please do not do that and she said okay but I can't see where I'm going if I hurt him. Yet she STILL PULLED THE SKIN BACK. SMH ‍ THERE ARE MANY STUDIES THAT STATE THAT IT SHOULD NOT BE PULLED FORCFULLY UNTIL THE AGE OF 5 AND SHE IS A NURSE SHE SHOULD KNOW HOW TO DO CATHETERIZATION WITHOUT RETRACTION. After that I told my husband what was going on and she started talking to me saying the same thing again. So once again I spoke up for my 2 month old baby that still doesn't have his own voice to speak up for himself and I told her what I said before and I also told her i didn't like how you ripped your glove to feel his vein that unsanitary. She said she's the Professional there. Nothing professional about that if you ask me. She then said she HAD TO FEEL HIS VEIN which I responded THEY SOULD HAVE TAUGHT YOU IN NURSING SCHOOL HOW TO FEEL THE VEIN WITHOUT TAKING OFF YOUR GLOVES. She rolled her eyes at me and she left . Mind you I never ever seen a nurse rip there gloves off while feeling a vein to take out blood. ALSO a lot of blood squirted out of my babies hand and I said omg she said it's supposed to do that that means we got his vein??? Like what!?!?? I also never ever seen blood squirt like that when my baby gets blood drawn which was pretty traumatic to see. Mind you after all of that I never disrespected her nor said any bad words to her even though I was upset that my petition for MY baby was ignored. I am writing this because she had wrote a note stating nothing but false statements. Us as mothers NEED TO BE HEARD AND NOT IGNORED WE NEED TO STAND UP FOR OUR LITTLE ONES WHO STILL DO NOT HAVE THERE OWN VOICE. MOTHERS PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS LADY WHO CALLS HERSELF A NURSE AND ASK FOR A DIFFERENT NURSE IF YOU GET HER.I will post what she said here...... MOC upset about RN pulling back foreskin while cathing during procedure. RN asked MOC if she was okay with RN continuing with cath process without foreskin fully pulled back, moc agreed, urine successfully sent. Mom educated on importance of cleaning before cathing and states "I don't care, my 'worker' told me he's too small to be doing that, and that's all I'm going to say". RN attempted to reassure moc about cathing process but moc continued to cut off RN with disrespectful comments. MOC also expressed concerns about IV process, stated "I didn't like the way you ripped off your glove to touch his vein". This RN felt vein with index finger prior to starting IV and cleaning. RN educated moc on hand hygiene done prior to IV start as well as skin being cleaned prior to IV insertion and need to feel for the vein prior to poking pt. MOC responded with "they should have taught you how to do it without feeling the vein in nursing school!". RN offered to remove IV if moc desired and educated moc on need for abx and possible additional labs to be draw, moc agreed to keep IV in. Daisy tech at bedside during lab draw, urine collection, and nasal swab. Provider Arena and charge RN aware.

ERs are always difficult…read moredue to long waits as they get test results back before proceeding to the next step, and are trying to prioritize your needs over all the other emergencies happening at the same time. Despite this, Dr. Mooney was incredibly good to me. He explained what had happened to me, even drawing me a picture, then told me I would be admitted overnight to the hospital. Sleeping overnight in the hospital isn't easy, as nurses come in every 1 to 2 hours to give you meds or check your vitals. The doctor and NP who visited me overnight were also very kind and good to me (Dan Marra and Dr. Ahmed). The doctors never have a lot of time to sit down and chat with you, because there are so many other people who need them at the same time, so I didn't expect it, however, Dr. Marra went out of his way to explain things to me, and was very kind to me. They bring you food while in the hospital that was surprisingly good. Everyone is short staffed and tired, as the medical system is broken, but despite everything, I am grateful that they kept me alive and gave me the care that I needed.
