Man, I went to this school for 1 year and man was 2023 fun. My favorite teacher was def Mr. Duong. This guy really knows how to teach. He also is really entertaining and makes learning fun. Beckman High School is a really great school; especially for athletics. Coach Casey does an AMAZING job at as head of the Olympic weightlifting club. She is an excellent coach, very knowledgeable, empathetic, and caring. Coach Casey Knows a lot about proper form, the importance of warm-ups, stretching, nutrition, etc... Very positive experience here and will definitely refer those I know! 10/10! read more

I usually don't leave bad reviews for schools but I was bullied and harassed so badly at Beckman in 2011 that it still bothers me to this day. I was sexually harassed here daily where boys would grab my butt in the halls. Kids were doing cocaine in the grass near the lunch tables. I was called all kinds of names inside of classrooms and had things written on my notebooks by my classmates and the teachers never stepped in once. This was to the point where ultimately I had to leave Beckman, Send your child here if you want them to be bullied and the teachers will never do anything about it. read more

While my son did not attend school here we have been here for several athletic events and they have always been well organized. The school is clean and well maintained, friendly and helpful staff. Large school with plenty of parking. read more

It hurts me to write this review but if your child has a disadvantage, Beckman High School is probably not a school you should select. Ironically, we had the most conflict with the Marching banda instructor. I contacted the district, who did allow us to transfer out of the school. At this point, as long as no other student goes through the same experience, what happen to us is worth it. read more

I went to beckman for all four years of my high school experience. In my four years, I had only two good teachers who I felt genuinely cared about my education and learning development. Even so, these teachers didn't seem to have much interest in me after I was out of their class the next year. Although the campus may look pretty and put together, the social environment inside of beckman was terrible. Most of the people were too clicky and stuck up to want to include other people in their friend groups. It was very very difficult to find a group of solid friends. The administration/office staff had always been rude to me. I think there had been only a couple of times that I've gone into the office asking for help and not felt like I was inferior. The staff made it seem like no matter what questions were asked, they were stupid questions. They are almost always passive and will only do the bare minimum for parents or students. read more

When we initially moved to Irvine, we as parents were sold on the notion of integrity, commitment, honesty and "TRU BLU" pride. While it is true that Beckman prides itself on such values, whether they uphold them is remains to be seen. Over the four years of our child at Beckman, we've heard of major incidents including, but not limited to, teacher suicides, harassment/bullying due to socio-economic class, selective discrimination with regards to favoritism with "pay to play" sports programs, and even through social media we've noticed an incredible amount of students bringing drugs / marijuana on campus. Such major issues, were only expressed publicly when it affected their reputation, and usually, were conveniently swept under the rug and/or dismissed. I cannot stress the disillusionment, that some parents feel with Beckman High School, us included, and our concerns, typically are heard by deaf ears that seek to maintain their pride as one of the best schools in the nation. While the amenities and opportunities, resemble that of a country club or gym membership, when it comes to academics, Beckman falls behind, from our experience. The discrimination, prejudice, unconscious and/or conscious bias found inherent within the administration is quite alarming to say the least. And to this point, teachers do not keep parents informed, despite an open line of communication and constant reaching out to establish an effective support system. While this is the general experience, there are very few teachers who actually keep in touch with parents and try, but overall the performance has been rather poor, despite best efforts. We even took the plunge to get involved as volunteers - taking on major projects and supporting for what was our home team. However, our time and commitment was undervalued and under appreciated; Yet, they complain constantly that they seek parents to get involved. Like I've stated, it's like joining a country club and popularity rules even within the administration, parent/teacher organizations, and the booster clubs. Personally, as an American Latino, I've discussed this issue both with students and parents (not only of Latino heritage, but others as well) alike who share a similar experience with regards to the prejudice at Beckman High School. The assessment has been nothing short of alarming, a disappointment, and, ultimately, a travesty that emphasizes the inequality found within our American school system. In hindsight, I would not have sent my son to this school or to Tustin Unified and I certainly will not be sending my daughter in the coming years. At the end of our son's high school career, Beckman's administration, contributed to an overstepping in our son's accountability, infringing on our rights as parents, to teach as well simple things like consequences of poor performance. The frustration with Beckman High School has been enormous and from our experience was complicit in fracturing our family, instead of supporting it. So much for honesty, integrity and commitment. That's the 'TRU BLU' of Beckman. read more

If you want your child to attend a correctional facility, this is the perfect place to put them in. The Principal tells the parents NOT to get involved in any conflicts that their child has with the teacher because as he puts it, your child needs to be able to communicate to the teacher on their own. However, who holds the power here? Who would be believed if a child has an issue with the teacher? They just want the parents to donate money and mine their own business and let the teachers do whatever without interfering. Don't be fooled by the fake smiles you get on open house night. The "Happy" faces they give are only for the parents. What they show towards their students is completely the opposite. If you have a choice, avoid this school. read more

this is not a good school i only had like 2 teachers that achely wanted me to learn something and my english teacher only talked about trump and my engender teacher didn't like me and the school act like it helping but they don't anything they had like 4 meeting with me but then just didn't do anything and the teacher pick favorites like if you got good grades the teacher will be nice to you but if you got bad grades they wont help you and they will be really rude to you read more

The teachers are usually only good if you're in the honors programs or early college. Exceptions being in english, Ng and Blackstone are fantastic CP English teachers. My favorite teacher here is Hallstrom for sure (Junior English Honors), as he made me actually LIKE english again. Math department is garbage. Kenefick should've been fired years ago, I found out recently from friends that are still at Beckman that she was given a medical leave due to mental health, and during the time of her absence, the sub apparently made the class easy to understand, and most everyone had A's and B's. When they brought Kenefick back, everyone's grades went splat on the floor. Even my own experiences with her was bad. The first time I ever failed a class was with her. Even the smart kids were having trouble. read more

Pretty decent school from what I have heard, but what I truly like about this campus is that they have gated basketball courts at the far end of the school on the other side of the grass. It is on the street, but there are 3 full courts to play on, which stay open until 10pm every night. This is the best feature of this school, so if you are looking for a place to play basketball late at night and you are in the area, this is the place! read more

I have had three sons go there so far and it has been a good experience overall. The school goes the extra mile to allow kids to play sports and participate in the arts or clubs. Academically, it is challenging and there are some outstanding teachers. I consider us lucky to have a school of this caliber in our community. read more
