Maya loves "walking point."
John W.

Early in the morning every day, I love taking my little dog Maya to the Beck Lake Off Leash Dog Park. We always take the mile walk around the perimeter, enjoying the meadows, several paths with tree canopy. If other dogs are there, Maya plays and runs with them, large or small. It is a great dog socialization area and nice to meet other dog-loving folks. This park is a real gem offered by Cook County Forest Preserve. Thanks!

Are you gonna help me out or just take a picture?

Great place for dogs. They like the varying terrain and the "lake" is perfecr for hot days. Never had any issues with bad dogs or bad owners other than with people who don't train their dogs to behave, like not jump all over the tables etc. We don't usually come here in the winter, since we don't want to risk any lake incidents. It is a 30 minute drive for us, and worth it. You will need to get a permit from Cook County to get in the gate.

Best dog park in the area hands down. Friendly dogs and great people. Would recommend to anyone.

I love this place but my dog realized he didn't have to listen to me and run away so I had to stop coming.

Ask the Community - Beck Lake Dog Friendly Area

Does anyone know how long it takes to get a pass for this dog park? I would be willing to pay a current member to use their day pass coming from the city.

I submitted the completed application with my veterinarian's form via email after payment. That was on 2/24/24. They responded on 2/26/24 accepting my application. I went and picked up my key from FPOCC HQ a few days later.

The outdorr grounds has a large variety of flowerbeds, a pavilion, a butterfly garden, and a wooden gazebo. I have been to several events hosted by the park district or private. This time we were there for the Native Plant sale . The sale took place in the outdoor pavilion . The conservatory's greenhouse staff where available to answer questions. All the plants were neonictinoid-free, , making them 100% safe for local pollinators and birds. Plants were 3 for $15 . The proceeds from the plant sale go directly toward supporting the Mt. It's a small, quaint park perfect for walking with a circular path along the park. There's 2 jungle gym parks for kids across the field, as well! My sister and I did countless loops since this park is a bit on the smaller side. The parking situation is great, too - there's plenty of parking available by the conservatory and the park. The little conservatory was closed when we came, but I definitely wanna come back and check it out! The park's trail goes right by it. There's also a church right next to it, so I saw cute old couples and families with kids still in their church clothes walking around and playing at the park. I'd definitely come back here for a picnic at the park, a nice stroll, or to check out the conservatory!

As I read through other reviews, there is a lot more to this park than just a trail around a lake…read more We did a fundraiser that included a walk around the lake. The park is very good and the walk is nice. The whole loop is only about 1 1/2 miles so it's an easy walk. The other reviews talk about accommodations for a party, indoor sports like basketball, a gym, and more. We didn't check any of that out since we didn't know they were there. Speaking of the path and the lake, it's lovely and a nice place to go on a warm day.

The Naval station closed in '93, and the hundred and fifty acres that now comprise Gallery Park became available, and were incorporated as this park. Tip: There are several different trails here, all of which loop around Lake Glenview. The lake also has several piers, some small islands, and a bridge My two favorite trails here are the Lake Trail (one and a half miles long) and the Park Trail (one point eight miles long). I used to also very much enjoy the Lakeside Trail, but I ran into far too many ticks the last time I went there, so I've been avoiding it. Over and above the hiking trails, the park also has several soccer fields, tennis courts, and even some catch-and-release fishing spots. Last (but not least) there's a fitness zone with equipment for cardio steps, chest presses, an crunches, etc. But wait, there's more! You'll also find a children's garden, bike racks, water fountains, and picnic tables. All in all this is a pretty cool place to relax and get some nature on :-)

Overall, park is nice and clean and its located in a convenient area for me. BATHROOM REVIEW -- they have a permanent (read: not a port-a-potty) restroom for one. Inside, depending on the day, smells like shake pee and poop, or at best, no smell at all. Peer down and the one toilet bathroom and you'll see a 5-foot hole, where the poop and urine goes. Sit or squat? Definitely squat!
