The rewards program gives you a various % off each month but the trick is that you have to go every month to keep the rewards going, so apparently it works since here I am over a year later and still doing it. Dream Dinners makes eating at home so easy. They have about 15 different meal options each month that you choose from in 3 or 6 serving sizes (minimum 36 servings). The ingredients and instructions for each meal are set up for you and you put them together according to the dummy proof directions and then you put everything in one big ziploc bag and stick it in your freezer and then pull it out the night or two before you want to eat it and cook it according to the printed cooking instructions they give you. The food options are really good, there are repeats a few times a year but there is really good variety and there have only been a couple of meals that I wasn't thrilled with. They also have sides (veggies, bread, dessert, etc) that you can buy. It takes about an hour to prepare all your meals and the meals average about $5/serviing which is pretty good compared to going out or having to grocery shop and figure out what you want to make. This has really changed my family's life I think my husband and I have forgotten how to actually cook because Dream Dinner's takes all the thought out of it.

Add 50 cents to the price and make it a meal and I'll add a can vegetable. You know how much rice I can buy for $3.00 at the market, which is the average entre cost. They said the reason they don't always have an added entre is to keep the costs down. NO, it's to make a larges profit on those item. One cup of rice goes a long way and the cost is pennies.

I found this blueberry farm on pickyourown.org. It had no website, but I called, and after talking…read moreto the very sweet 80-something-year-old owner, I knew I was going to have an adventure. This is no Wiard's Orchard-style farm experience. It's a rustic little farm, with a bunny and chickens running loose in the yard. You drive right up to the house and knock (signs will point you to the correct door) and they'll come out and show you where to go. I had a very relaxing trek through some huge blueberry patches. I didn't have to climb through a lot of brush - there were plenty of berries on the outside of the rows - but I did anyway because that's where I found spots that were completely untouched. It was pretty quiet except for the birds and my companion. The berries were huge and sweet, and the price was way lower than I expected. The owners have 50 years experience growing blueberries, and they're happy to share that experience, as well as a few stories of life on the farm. After meeting them, I felt really good about supporting this local business. If you have a sense of adventure, enjoy talking to interesting people, have some sturdy shoes and some bug spray, get out there! Go give them your money!

Chances are you've either seen or sampled the Batata (aka Sweet Potato) Waffles, as Tawnya sets up shop at various events & venues around the city (the DIY Food Fair, Model D's open house, Canfield Street Market, teaming up with Anthology at MOCAD, and so on). I can appreciate the efforts put into an independent food business, but when you're exclusively making/selling one product (in this case Batata Waffles) it better be damn good! Unfortunately, the sweet potato waffles are just okay. The batter has a nice consistency (not too light or dense) but the flavor is bland, and its only saving grace is the delicious homemade pecan butter! There's an eCard going around that says, "Listen, I'm watching hockey and eating waffles. I just don't have time for your drama today." I don't get it at all. Games aren't on in the morning. Waffles don't have beer in them. If you throw one at someone, it won't even hurt. Can someone explain this ecard to me? I'll explain the Batata Shop for you in return. They're a pop-up serving up sweet potato waffles (whole wheat or gluten free) with pecan butter melted on top. You can usually find them at a coffee shop in Detroit, check out their Facebook page to find out where and when. These waffles are pretty damn good, although like Maria B. says, the best thing about them is the pecan butter. Mostly sweet, a little savory, a lot good. I like the waffle itself, but it's not at all crispy, and that's my favorite thing about a waffle. They're also pretty pricy. $3 for one, $5 for two. This might be okay, except I think an Eggo waffle is larger than these babies are. They're a great treat with your coffee, and definitely worth a try. But probably pointless to throw while watching a hockey game (Let's Go, Wings!).

They truly set up each station to allow you to easily go about your business, and they keep the people working at the same time to the correct number. Now, for the taste. 3 stars average. I had to doctor practically every dish to match our tastes (fresh herbs and spices mostly). I appreciated that we had so much ready in the freezer, and Ken could follow the very easy instructions. This is the reason Groupon exists…read more I first tried Time Too Savor with a Groupon and brought a friend with me, since I didn't know what to expect and was afraid I'd be embarrassed with my can't-even-make-pasta cooking skills. This was in February I think, and we now have monthly friend dates here preparing meals together. This place is an awesome idea. It allows me to have foods that I would NEVER be able to make on my own. Out of the many meals I've had here, one or two have been so-so, and the rest have been outstanding. I especially recommend the fiesta chicken. My boyfriend gets so excited when I have an appointment coming up, because he knows that means I'm going to cook for him and we're going to eat good food (he tends to subsist on frozen pizzas as well- birds of a feather flock together, right??). I highly recommend Time Too Savor to anyone who isn't already a chef. Great food, and fun to prepare too :)
