Went here on Tuesday July 16th 2024 with my parents as part of our Newport, RI trip. This lighthouse has a musuem, one can climb it if open, a gift shop, and a small aquarium, which i liked. The reason why i give this 5 stars is because since it is sort of an peninsula, the wind is very strong here, and was blowing in my face. That may bother some people, like it bothered me. Free parking is available, and this place is right next to the beavertail lighthouse musuem. cute and small, and has an explorative habitat that one can feel sea creatures and plants. Lots of fish, one fish sign had a sign that it was a lazy fish and made me laugh. i thought this was a cute little aquarium! read more

all i saw when i was there was a small room. about 5 or six fish tanks . and one fish. i guess the rest of the fish were on vacation.

A small place with great neighbors Beavertail Aquarium is a small, cramped and kind of stinky place. Pretty dark and not much room to move about, especially if a whole herd of kids are stuffed in the room. It's still a pretty cool place though. A couple of tanks filled with fishies and crustaceans and various old posters and fish models hanging around. Certainly not the biggest or most impressive aquarium in New England but it is free and the young lady working there was willing and able to answer the tsunami of questions she was assaulted with. The best thing about the aquarium is the location, Right next to the majestic Beavertail Lighthouse and the very cool Beavertail Museum, the aquarium has some very impressive neighbors. Beavertail park is situated right on the southern most tip of the island so it gets pounded by wind and waves and the views are spectacular in all directions. A fun place to go in heavy weather. The aquarium is just one small part of the whole experience. No, it's not very big but it is free, fun and very cool. They don't have a gift shop so you can't buy a crummy t-shirt here but they do sell some very nice crummy t-shirts and other trinkets in the museum right next door. Not some place really worth going out of your way to see but if you are in the park it's definitely worth a visit. read more

Beavertail Aquarium has a large number of small exhibits. You will see small aquatic life that you likely have never seen before or often ignored. We arrived at the aquarium in the last 1/2 hr of the day and were pleasantly welcomed by Cameron a young man with enthusiasm regarding the exhibits. He proceeded to show and explain several of the aquatic life. We learned more about the small aquatic life in the 30 minutes we were there than I had in all of the other larger aquariums I have visited around the world. I hope Cameron keeps his enthusiasm and goes on to college in this field. For example we learned that a moon snail uses acid to bore a small hole into a clam to both provide access and to dissolve the clam so the moon snail can suck out the remains. read more

Have you ever been at the beach and wondered what kind of creatures are hanging out in the water around you? Well, now you can find out! Beavertail Aquarium is a small attraction within Beavertail State Park, located near the lighthouse and the restrooms. Although it's extremely small (just one room with about a dozen tanks), they do a great job of showcasing the local marine life. There are 1-2 staff members to rein in the children (especially around the touch tank) and answer any questions you might have. Plus it's 100% free! If you're in Beavertail State Park, I would definitely check out this charming and kid-friendly aquarium! read more

Be warned, this place said it was OPEN on their fb page and here but it was CLOSED. We couldn't find a phone number so went there on faith with our three year old. It was not open. Not cool. Get your info correct on social media so people don't trek their toddlers 40 mins for nothing. read more
