Never fear sculptor Peter…read moreJones installed this beautiful statue across the street from the Mayor's court in addition to the one on the railroad. Entitled "River Trade" the statue shows how the Native Americans utilized the Cuyahoga river to trade with their peers in the nearby settlements. The statue is not very big and very easy to miss. Much detail goes into making this statue. The city of Cuyahoga Falls is very small but very clean and well organized. Eateries abound in the area and there are picturesque parks such as Riverfront park. They do hold festivals during the year such as Italian day which was the date I visited. If you wish to take a photo of the Indian statue then it is best to park behind the municipal building and walk around. Great tribute to an indIgenous people.

If you're not a member of the CCPL, you're doing yourself a disservice - we have access to so many awesome locations - including this beauty in Chagrin Falls. The online selection of eBooks for my Kindle is outstanding and the books I request online are always ready for pick-up when requested. Physically, the facility is great. Nice lush greenery sits outside the vintagey looking building and the inside has clean, organized stacks and local art. Like most of Chagrin Falls, its just a cute place. Put your phone down and go read - its what I'm about to do. :)

My son and I visited for a trick or treat event for children. The house is quite lovely and I found…read moremyself wanting to learn more about it, but the trick or treat moves fairly swiftly and there isn't time for history. That said, my son enjoyed it and I did too. His favorite part was visiting the lovely sheep grazing outside. The inside of the house was well decorated and there was a craft outside in the small guest house on the property. We were there early so parking was pretty easy. Volunteers were friendly, although the ticketing/check in process was a little confusing. The door was open, but the guy working seemed unclear on whether they were ready for us to come in or not, and directed us to the craft area before we paid and got our stamps. One day I'll come back when it's less hectic to explore and learn more about this interesting piece of Akron history.

Chagrin Falls is one of those quaint little american towns with the iconic colorful local shops,…read morefamily run restaurants, kid-friendly parks, and even a gazebo in the town center! It's the picture perfect representation of Americana. Expect I personally think it's all fake. I have a like/hate relationship with the Falls. It feels too commercialized to be real, like the town it capitalizing on the small american lifestyle without actually being "small America". Maybe I've seen Pleasantville one too many times but this place just seems off. The stores aren't actually local, the restaurants aren't really run by families, the Starbucks is the most frequented stop, and unless you're making a hefty yearly salary, you just feel unwelcome. Or at least that's how I feel when I'm here. One time I had my NPR bumper sticker stolen off my car here. Now I don't know about you, but I don't think they wanted it for themselves. It was more like they didn't want that kind of riffraff in their town. Also, (this is the last thing I swear) no public transportation runs through Chagrin Falls. I have written to town hall about this because I think 1: it's discriminatory and 2: it's terrible marketing. Take it as you will, I'm just not a fan.

Wow!!!! I won a golden ticket. I went to the Golden ticket event and had the most amazing time! We…read moregot to see a working ion thruster - who can say that beside NASA engineers? We got to meet Gregory Box Johnson - a pilot who went to the Space station twice! We also seen the zero gravity facility where NASA can make objects become weightless for slightly over 5 seconds as it drops below ground over 430 feet. We were taken into the control room of where rocket engines are tested - inside joke (where pigs fly!)! The employees of mass were not only knowledgeable, but friendly and willing to answer all questions asked. I am so excited to take my girls back for open house tours over the next few years! I love that one of their three directors is from Puerto Rico. With the right support and hard work you can be anything you want to be!

Yelp Day at SLOPE…read more The facility is now only open to guided tours... they post on their web site well in advance and you can call to be a part of a larger group if you don't catch the Yelp train to NASA. We were not the first tour of the day...l so we got the bum's rush at times... they do have a gift shop still open... BUT... the larger exhibit / museum space is closed... it has been moved to the Great Lakes Science Center. Soooo... if you are looking to let your kids crawl and explore head to the Science Center... if you are looking to get a great geek's view of one of the departments and talk to staff take the guided tour as early in the day as you can.

Books, CDs and Blu-Rays Oh my! When you think of a library your first thought is "Cool a place to…read moreget books!" but this library is so much more than that! The renovations they did to this locations was the best thing they could've done. It is a large location and the selection of everything is so much more than you could ask for. They have a ton of computers/printers, copiers, the DVD/Blu-Ray collection is amazing! I've never seen as many movies as I have the past several movies thanks to the library. They also offer a ton of free events of different kinds depending on your age and liking. They have a nice area in the front where they have soda machines and a nice place to study if you're a student or if you just want a quiet place to get away. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I love that you can use the website and order things and pick up at your convenience. It is always clean and organized which is always a plus for a library. It has been my favorite location I've been to in years. They have automatic doors which is great if you need help or are in a wheelchair, scooter, use a cane etc. There are lots of sitting areas also Incase you need to rest.
