I do a lot of Christmas shopping here, they gift wrap your items for FREE and their wrapping style is cool and modern. Shout out to the owner who clearly has a unique POV that is both Nostalgic AND Modern, Casual & Refined, Grungy & Luxurious. All tags were the on it including the Koo De Ker label. I was asked by the young woman if I had the receipt. I said, no it was a gift and I wanted to exchange for a smaller size. She indicated that I was too late to return or exchange. She could even get up off her perch to see if their was one that I could buy (and sell the other one on Posh Mark). Unbelievable! It's not like I've waited until February to bring something back. Koo De Ker should mark on their labels their return policy on gifts! As I left I said, "I guess I won't be back, but you don't even care". Her response was "no I don't". I get it! It's a small boutique store but SERIOUSLY! I would suggest to the owner to do a little training. But then again, perhaps she doesn't CARE either.

Don't expect DI thrift store prices here, this is a consignment store and they've weeded out the items for you, so everything you're shopping for is in great condition and great quality. High quality brands and items. They have sales regularly - when I was here they were having a 75% off, 50% off, and 25% off sale depending on the color of the tag. I got a winter jacket that was 75% off and it ended up being $15! There were a ton of staff members on the floor and they were all super helpful and on top of it. As I entered the shop on a Friday afternoon, two girls bearing the same wavy blond bob, glasses, and even exhibiting similar mannerisms greeted me! I asked if they were twins, and we all had a good giggle as they explained no, they just sort of merged into the same person after spending so much time working together. Isn't it funny how that sometimes happens? They were both friendly and helpful, explaining how to dispense the bulk products, and happily answering questions. A small thing that is such a helpful idea, is that they accept donated reusable containers, so if you forget your own, or, like me, happen upon the shop without having previously planned on stopping by, you are free to use any of these bottles! The bulk goods consist of body, beauty, and home products. Featured brands are recognizably good ones: EO, Biokleen, Mountain Rose Herbs, and Meow Meow Tweet (you can even grab a bit of their well-reviewed natural deodorant!). In addition to the bulk offerings, they sell regular size natural makeup and beauty products, lots again from Meow Meow Tweet, Fat and the Moon, and others. They even have reusable period pads and cups. SLC, you're getting so progressive! In addition, there were creative planters and ceramic containers, gorgeously fragranced candles, a variety of incense, clever greeting cards, notebooks and other stationary, pretty reusable totes and bags, and jewelry. Most (maybe all?) are hand crafted, some locally. There was even a small rack of vintage clothing! Prices are reasonable; though do not expect overly cheap bulk prices. As the products on offer are high quality, you will pay accordingly, and it's worth it!

I heard about Animalia through a friend of a friend. I also heard that they do offer food composting for 60 cents a gallon out back which was a godsend since my new 'hood doesn't do composting (and it's too early in the season to use for planting). The shop is super cute, clean and organized. Parking is very easy out front (no payment required). The vibrant woman working there was ultra helpful and friendly (she even remembered to text me when one of the products I asked about came in). She showed us around and let us know how things worked. I ended buying a lot more than I planned (including their kombucha! cinnamon apple -- yum!), and I am happy with all of their products so far. The rose deodorant is amazing. I have yet to try the epsom salts, but am excited to. The shop overall is a little bit expensive, but I'd much rather pay more to live responsibly. Composting price is a steal though -- definitely my go-to now.

I bought an Elle top there for a mere $17 and saw lots of tops/sweaters in the $15-30 range. There were also a pair of ADORABLE 7s, but unfortunately, I couldn't justify the price- they were still $130 despite the "outlet" price. They also have a good selection of cute jewelry and purses, along with men's clothing. Their clothing is largely on the more trendy side- probably bordering on my fine line of what I find as being my style. (Me = slightly nerdy young professional type who likes to look cute, be comfortable, and somewhat stylish... at least sometimes.) The only problem was that one of the girls there was a tad pushy- I don't think she quite had an understanding of my style by the types of things I was picking out and she kept bringing by things telling me that "oh, this was super cute" and "these sold out so fast" and it got a little tiring. The employees were NOT pushy, just VERY helpful, and enthusiastic -- just how I'd want my employees. They were great. they made every effort to get my colors and sizes from another store to meet my busy schedule, and they will even ship to you. When so many businesses are struggling, I can see this one growing, as will only the best stores. I'll make it a point to stop there on my Park City trips, I'm way up in Brigham City. I am so glad I got to meet the owner, Lori, a previous buyer for Nordstorm's in OC Calif. It's great to find the CA styles, and fabulous pieces. Inside, it is small; featuring a limited selection of women's clothing, including intimates like panties and bralettes, along with a few accessories, mostly jewelry. All pretty basic, and nothing terrifically exciting. The majority of items are their own brand. Prices are relatively cheap, with corresponding product quality. As I entered, I noticed the employee at the front desk playing on his phone. He glanced up to greet me, and then got right back to business. Now, even if he had been friendlier and more available I still would not have made a purchase (this store just is not my style), and he was not rude, but....I don't know. Make some sort of effort. His boredom was poorly masked, and roused no thrill for shopping in myself.
